My speaker on the top is really quiet while on a phone call and I was wondering if I should buy the earpiece and use the old flex cable with it (or if anyone can give advice on how to sort it out)

Correction**** Step 1: Buy replacement kit

This music really pissed me off 😂

So misleading, nothing to let people know your Face ID won’t work after this. Probably too late after they’ve binned the original flex. Please do it properly, it’s two tiny solder joints AND Face ID will work afterwards.

It to mention the installation of the new water seal which is very important not only for waterproof (which probably won’t be as effective compared to factory especially considering quality of the seal could be junk) but to cushion the screen and support it “flexibly” to help against cracking from slight impacts.

Wrong. You will lose faceid doing it like that. It must be a soldered replacement. Thats part of the problem with these how to videos. Its misleading. If you're going to do a video like this do it correctly.

@@obrien247 Do you know if I can replace the whole wire+earpiece easily and avoid soldering? I go the entire earpiece+wire from iFixit, but I'm not sure how hard it will be to get the wire replaced, what do you recommend?. Also...do you know if the phone will be "water resistant" after this..? or should I get something to fix that on reassembly? Thanks! EDIT: I just rewatched and this guy replaced the wire too. Doesn't that mean he does not need to solder? As the soldering points are between the wire and the earpiece?

What is that clear piece that you heat up and replace around the 2:08 and 2:22 mark? I think I may have melted mine and need a replacement. I can't find it anywhere. Thanks

thats just a plastice bracket that holds the ear peice and proximity sensor in place

You literally have to keep the same proxy flex and de-solder old speaker then solder the new speaker on the original front flex.

@@averagegamindad please don’t take videos like this as gospel.all they do is mislead you into doing something you shouldn’t causing more issues.

Some video only wants click- they don’t care enough about your Face ID. Don’t do this if you like Face ID function.

does the face id and true tone still works if the earpiece has been changed ?

yea ive done camera replacements and same issue

I have been .. facing low volume from front speaker , and the authorised service centre says Cleaning it will fix the issue and They said if not we have to replace the part .. Also replacement of earpiece can’t be done alone they said we have to change display along with the earpiece, WTF it’s too costly

The ear speaker mesh on the front of the phone gets clogged up muting the phone. You can either replace the mesh (cheap) or clean it with a small brush. Don’t listen to apple who only want your money.

This is bad, ont try this; if u do your face id will stop working!!!!

Beware of a lack of professionalism. Working without gloves, a drop of liquid on the LCD and hiding the broken tape... think twice before publishing. But the goal is achieved!!

not any use, do this, and loose the Face ID, you only need to replace earpiece, how to, find another video, click baiter

Do NOT 🚫 DO IT!!! YOU LOSE YOUR FACE ID FOREVER!!!
