thank you,, ive been confused how to do this since im not a mac expert.. i wanted to clean my iphone photos without using icloud,, i tried airdrop but it wont transfer a huge volume of files.. so i searched this.. does imported photos stay on local drive on my macbook??? i wont worry it will be deleted right? i didnt activate icloud sync

Just needed to use my USB-C to Lightning cord from Apple to my Macbook Pro and iPhone 11 Pro. My third party cord and dongle won't register my phone in the Photos app on my Mac. Thank you and Blessings!

It's most likely because the photos are being stored on your icloud now, not iPhone. So will have to redownload them before transfering.
Do you have to be logged into the same Apple ID on the MacBook as ok the iPhone ? Or does it work anyway
I have a fully loaded MacBook Pro Mid-2012 with 16GB Memory MacOS 10.15.7 with the Samsung T7 1TB SSD external drive & a iPhone 13 Pro & my question will it work as far as photo editing? & if…. I was to buy the Sony ZV-E10 Camera can I load my photos & videos into my MackBook pro then do the editing? Because I want to do my KZread Content in January

Nope. it just takes a long time for large files/back ups

The problem is that I lose the "creation date", so it becomes a mess for archive. But thank you anyway !
