In this video (about 30 minutes), I’ll share some iPad apps I use for orchestra sounds.
These sounds include:
Strings
Brass
Woodwinds
Percussion
Choir
While there is still a long way to go to get some of the high quality desktop libraries and articulations on iOS, there are some iOS apps that have good orchestral sounds.
Timestamps of the apps below:
0:00 Intro
0:56 Beathawk by UVI
4:34 DecentSampler by Decent Samples
7:00 iSymphonic by Crudebyte
10:24 PureSynth Platinum by GospelMusicians
16:15 Roli Noise by….Roli
19:32 Sampletank by IK Multimedia
21:22 Beatmaker 3 by Intua
22:53 SECRET STRING SOUND!!!!! 😳 (See pinned comment for more insight into this)
25:40 Honorable mentions
26:00 StaffPad ($$$$$) - PROBABLY THE HIGHEST QUALITY STRINGS YOU WILL GET ON THE iPAD (NOT AUV3 🥺)
Some others (not mentioned in the video):
- GarageBand has some great built-in string sounds and riffs.
- Oriental Strings by Crudebyte
- Heavy Brass by Crudebyte
- Jubal Flute by Embertone
Enjoy!

Thanks for watching! I've been using Beatmaker 3 mostly. It's great, especially for sampling and hip hop music. I also use Cubasis 2/3 (for me Cubasis 2 is more stable than Cubasis 3). I use Cubasis when I want to create quick melody ideas in a more linear approach. Also...I should do an update video on this. The latest strings I've been using are the Audio Modelling SWAM products.
