    My iPad is the heart of my stage rig playing keyboards in a band. It does midi routing to/from several outboard devices and also adds several great software instruments and clip playback. Camelot Pro is what I use to arrange and control the whole setup.

    I have those speakers and love them. So I use a focusrite scarlet 18i8 and the camera kit to record into cubasis on my gen2 ipad pro. I went with the 18i8 because i am archiving some adat tapes as well as messing around with audio recording. The 18i8 has phantom powered xlr inputs and multiple headphone out puts as well as stereo outputs. I use it to also drive the mackie speakers. The nice part is when im not using it with my ipad the setup is plugged into my windows PC

  • @JarradShaw

    @JarradShaw

    4 жыл бұрын

    iPhoneographers, agreed. I’m shooting on...🤔 three to four Apple devices at 1080 24 fps. The interviews are usually about an hour and a half. Airdropping works great, but four files that long take a good while to upload onto the iPad Pro. Add to that I have the 256 GB model so I have to be very conscious of what apps and data I have already on the pro and how much extra space LumaFusion is going to need putting all tracks together and utilizing Emulsio, b roll, color grading and transitions. My big gripe is once I’ve trimmed it all down and it’s locked to about... a 40 minute video and adding higher bit rates and higher audio, lol... well it can take All night for the video to upload from LumaFusion to KZread. My average editing has been about 20 hours with another 24 hours for the video to be up on KZread. Two things I don’t use as much as I should that coooould speed up my process are keyboard buttons that LumaFusion has and the trackpad and it’s gestures to scrub and edit footage. I don’t know why but still use the pencil or more so my finger. Longest comment ever. I wish there was a way to clean audio, mainly background noise. I use the Deity Pro shotgun mic and love it, but most of my videos are in public spaces during working hours. My mic picks up the interviewee and me really well, and the noise of folks around is muffled, but something that could help me dull that noise would be nice. I thought about separating the audio in LumaFusion, saving it and then putting in Ferrite or GarageBand then reloading into LumaFusion but... I don’t know.

    I am using iPad Pro for audio and video editing too, but using an audio interface, Motu M4 to a pair of Mackie MR524 studio monitors and a pairs of AKG condenser mics. The real frustration of iPad approach is it’s simplified apps, especially the recent version iMovie which automatically converting my stereo tracks to mono, Unbelievable!

    Great walk-through. ARM-based units very much seems to be the future. The upcoming ARM-based Apple laptop (Apple A12z processor) will have roughly the same oomph as the iPad Pro - but one very important new feature will also come, which might also benefit the iPad Pro: Rosetta 2, which enables powerful emulation. It was recently showcased running Maya and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is VERY impressive for an emulator.

    Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been on the fence about a MacBook or iPad Pro. I tend to use my Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 and though it’s been a great experience, I notice that I like to use my Dell XPS as tablet when possible. But isn’t tablet friendly. So the option as using it as a computer and tablet was kind of there. But the iPad Pro works well as both. And I think a tablet makes much more since for my daily use. I also really wanted to use GarageBand since it’s extremely user friendly. Now I’m just stuck between the smaller or larger iPad Pro.

    I guess if you already have an iPad Pro, then clearly you can make it work. I do all of this now with a laptop and thunderbolt dock. A buddy of mine uses his laptop and a thunderbolt eGPU (I'm considering this as well). What's nice about that is that he can use whatever graphics card he wants and can swap it out when needed. So, there are options to best-fit different use cases.

    It’s a practical solution for some scenarios too. I’m an over the road truck driver, so I need something highly portable to work with. And that has an independent mobile carrier. Rather than having to worry about whether I’m able to stop somewhere that has decent Wi-Fi. Or whether I’m running over my hotspot cap. The laptop seems like it would work fine for this. And it will do. But the versatility of touchscreen/keyboard and portrait/landscape is a lot more useful in tight quarters.

    For the newest iPad Pro, which recording app can really activate the ability of 5 mics? I don’t know weather they automatically support recording with 5 mics all together.

    I love my iPad Pro for editing. I create short weekly process videos of my wall sculptures which I share on Instagram. The only problem I have experienced is trying to retrieve my Lumafusion project package files from my Samsung T5. I can save and retrieve the finished product but get an error message when I attempt to get the project packages to download. Have you had similar experiences? Anyway, I liked this video and hope to incorporate some of the option you highlighted. Thanks for sharing.

    Haven’t used the project package feature like that, so really can’t comment. Have used XML packages and it works well for the most part. Need to experiment with more of that stuff.

    I asked the very same thing. He seems to only respond to individuals that praise his video, as opposed to responding to questions. Which is evident since your question is 9 MONTHS OLD, at the time of my reply. 🤦🏾‍♂️

    I thought ipad has studio quality microphone that does not require Blue yeti mic. Is that not true? Then I might as well buy the cheaper ipad

    I have the iOS lightning Blue Mikey which allows stereo piano recorded straight into the video camera app. I can record audio/video simultaneously Just need an audio interface that’s simple, powerful and allows for headphone monitoring

    Apple USB3 Camera Connection Kit. You can hook up a USB audio interface or better a powered USB hub and it can charge via Lightning at the same time. Works very good. Don’t buy knockoffs. They will fail. This original Apple dongle costs around $40.

    WoW, exactly what I've been looking for except one thing got me stuck. Is it possible to connect MIDI interface, other xlr cable musical instruments (guitar, piano, Bass etc) all from single USB hub on tablets?? Thank you so much!

    You would want to look at a different type of USB audio interface to do that. Like maybe a Focusrite Scarlett etc.
