I stand in awe of people who make their living praying for rain or praying that rain will stop. Grandpa always said topsoil on the side of a river is great but it comes at a high, high price. You never know when that check is gonna come due. Prayers for Iowa, MN and all the others impacted. Stay safe, Kurt.

Sending prayers to all who are affected by the flooding 🙏🙏🙏🙏 and be safe
Kurt: Great job documenting the pending catastrophe. I am a retired “community problem solver” of 45 years. I did it with different job titles in different positions in my 45 year career. Floods were one of the issues I dealt with. I am 6 years older than Uber Dad. I live 12 houses off of Highway 20 approximately 1200 miles down the road from you. I will tell you a flood story. In 2006 when the Eisenhower National Defense Highway Act of 1956 turned 50 years old, Upstate NY and the Northeast suffered a massive rainstorm that flooded I 90 and shut it down. Highway 20 (our Main Street) is the 200 year old Cherry Valley Turnpike. It was the only east - west road open in Central NY for two days. Every east west truck and car moving through Upstate NY had to use the 200 year old turnpike. Some times the old roads are the best roads LOL. I love your channel. I have watched religiously for a year. I will post why in a later comment. Keep up the great work and the great content.
Prayers going out for all those affected by the flooding. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless you.
There are still quite a few roads closed around here. We got lucky and missed the heavy rain last night. It went to the east. Stay safe, and God bless.
Thanks for the updates. This is really sad for the folks up there. BE SAFE Schmidt... I hope the farmer's don't have to much crop damage due to flooding of their fields near the waterways, rivers, etc...
Prayers to everyone from Southeast Iowa. We can remember back in the late 90s.
Thoughts and prayers from (central) Illinois
Happy to hear Mapleton escaped the floods. With all that rain and the heat it looks like a lot of lawn cutting in your future. Stay safe!
I hope and pray for no loss of life. Everyone one is in my prayers.
Thanks for showing this hope everyone is safe and on high ground
Sending prayers for all of you to stay safe. I feel for all of you in the Midwest dealing with this weather and flooding.
Thanks for showing us the real look of the rivers and places people really live. My heart goes out to everyone affected. We just got a lot of winds, about 4/10ths of an inch of rain here. I pray everyone stays safe.
Been watching local news on flooding. Yours is the best.
Great job kurt of showing just how bad things are in your state are feel sorry for all the ones that got flooded out god bless evergone and prays to everyone
Love to see what the Little Sioux Dam looks like....last time up there the dam had a pile of logs 25ft deep by 50yds long....
Kurt out here in the North East the news is talking about the Iowa flooding but your vids have been an eye opener to how severe it is out there. Out thoughts and prayers are with all the folks affected. Stay Safe.
Severe thunderstorm this morning, I slept right through it.Mostly straight winds no tornadoes 'MOOOOOooooooo...MOOOOOOOOoooooo'👀☔🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮

Wow,that's a lot of water! Thanks for sharing this.
I am so sorry that Iowa is going through this tragedy .y thoughts and prayers to those people affected by flooding along with people In South Dakota
Sad to see, me and my wife went through the flood here in eastern Nebraska back in march 13 2019. Thought's and prayers to everyone effected. My friend lives in Jackson,MN and it a flooded mess, hi way 71 closed going into Jackson currently. Thank you for the video.
I've been watching your videos for a couple of months and enjoying them. My brother told me about your channel. We were born on a farm near Smithland but left for California in 1956 due to droughts. I was 10 at the time but remember Mapleton for sure and heard of other towns you mention although don't remember being there as we didn't leave the farm much. My aunt owned McNutt's Sweet Shop in Castana.
Meanwhile Northeast Wyoming is dry as a bone.. A bad hailstorm hit the black hills last night..golfball and bigger hail . Sturgis did get some
Prayers for everyone this is effected by the flooding
that is insane flooding. All those poor people. My heart goes out to all of them.
How hi is the water mama, 10 ft high and rising. For some old classic fans. Was in NC Monday morning when heard about flooding decided quick trip home across north Missouri was in order. Come though early Tuesday didn't see much that direction yet. Good luck to you all, stay safe.
That is a truss bridge. One of the maintenance nightmares. They are strong but require a ton of rust removal and painting. Also the bearings that the superstructure sits on the piers can be another nightmare to replace or maintain. Cool bridge but obsolete design. The current cable stay bridges are the way to go. Most good for 100 years and lots of redundancy built in.
I moved to CB in 1999, 2 weeks after we moved in there was a horrific storm that flooded the streets with water and some sewer water coming into my basement up through the washer drain pipe in the basement. I am lucky, the year after that the city did a major renovation of the sewer system so we have pretty much stayed above the water since then . This year i have seen many of our flood prone areas under 1 to 3 foot of water repeatedly and it's time the city addressed that issue. These area's flood every time there is a massive series of storms that go through. Maybe the cities need make their own protective ground works to surround their cities leaving smaller areas, that are easier to seal off instead of the extensive damage we are seeing now.
Several roads are closed and a lot more on the waters list. There is always people that will test the road closed for flood water signs, not a smart idea. When you said, or I just made up that you said it…IDK, that you are running back up the hill.. I started singing “ Run to the Hills “,” Run for your lives “. By Iron Maiden… now I have it stuck in my head, as well as my husband and son..lol 😂😂 stay safe, prayers for those affected 👍🙏🏻🙌
Thanks for the ride!
Thanks for the flooding tour. Appreciate it. Very interesting.
Kurt thanks for sharing this with us ❤️ sending prayers for you and your family 🙏 and all the people who are affected by this 🙏
Thank you for the update.
Thanks for the videos if whats really happening in your neck of the country. Hope this weather gets better. Stay safe.
Flooding is bad we have our share off it here in the Netherlands every year, winter till summer 7 months off rain, and now the sun is shining.
Praying Y'all stay safe
Can you show the corn fields in 2 weeks? 5 ft corn can handle a lot of water (especially with 100 degree weather), but this is extreme.
I believe when the bridge at Decatur was completed a flood had left the main channel just to the east of the new bridge and the channel had to be remade to go under the new bridge after the flood had receded.
yall stay safe up there schmidt take care of opie and jax gotcha beat on heat here in florida it was 112 with the heat index today same thing for tomorrow
Wow, water is just a powerful force to be reckoned with.
Great video Kurt
Hope that dike they built is high enough and holds. Seeing a lot of TV channels covering it but you added more context! Thank you Sir!

Thoughts and prayers from north central Mississippi
im keeping a eye on yall cause what yall get we will get in awhile here in Louisiana from how the mississippi raises
THANKS
Interesting video. Thanks for sharing. My parents live up in Spencer and I used to drive through a lot of those same areas when I took the 'fun' route from Fremont NE back home. Been watching this mess unfold since the water went over the top of the dikes in Spencer (dike didnt break). Always thought Mapleton was a neat little town. The Decatur bridge is cool but a little unnerving to drive across :)
Went through a pretty good flood area today. Was pushing water with my twenty inch bumper
& talking 2 the cows 🐄 🐄 is just classic & is God's work @ the same time 😂🎉
It’s a good thing you know your way around that are. A visitor could easily get flooded in. Devastation is all I could say prayers for those who are affected. Stay safe and Uber dad too.
Kurt I’m so sorry that your state is flooding, I wish that rain had worked its way to my state because I think my state is in a drought and could use the rain
God Bless your neighbors!! 🙏🙏Ts & Ps
THe bridge at 3:14 reminds of the bridge to Wisconsin over the Mississippi at Lansing Iowa
Wow, and Nebraska had storms with tornados yesterday somewhere. Wowsa
Hey shmitty... I had an aunt and uncle that lived on mo valley iowa...all I remember is hunting moreal mushrooms...in iowa...
I live in Sioux City and it's a mess and now there's a good chance of storms in the next 2-4 days
Prayers.
Trying to help a Swiftly 🚛. Good luck 😀😃😄😁😆😅😂
I hope you and your family is safe that is some pretty crazy there
We've got some flooding up in Minnesota north of Mankato on 169 up to St. Peter and the Desmoines river by Windom Minnesota. and a bunch of other places The Minnesota River.
I remember the day the Lake Delhi Dam here in Eastern Iowa, failed. We received 10" of rain in 48 hours, as did many places. Downstream from the dam is the Great Jones County Fair Fairgrounds and the night before we were watching Alan Jackson in concert from 5th row track seats, the next day that track was under 6 feet of water. Imagine if it burst that day. I think that was the year Cedar Rapids was under 10 feet of water.
The Decatur bridge reminds me of the old Blair bridge.
I hope it doesn't come to fruition, the forecast for the southern South Dakota appears to be more rain. Hopefully it'll be darn little rain, no one should bank on that. High hopes for everyone effected by the flooding will not give rise to serious devastation though I think it could be said devastation is already beyond the doorsteps. Guard yourselves and family, they are what's important. Thank you, Schmidt, for the update. Be wary and well.
That's almost the same design as Baltimore, weight pylons, no super-mounting structure, only at its ends and on those slippery piers.

Prayers up river from you in Bismarck
Can you imagine the devastation of the irrigation industry of the flood
What you didn't know was that the water was working under the surface. The smithland dike broke and that road is submerged now. 6/27
Lansing, Iowa, Mississippi River Bridge reminds me of this one
The water got here sooner than they expected. I have been watching the river here today. It hasn't gotten any higher. But the problem here is that the Missouri and Little Sioux River was rising at the same time.
Best vid ever❤🎉
Good afternoon from waterloo iowa
C16 has opened back up in Cherokee county according to my daughter.
Thanks for telling the Iowa ftor.
We pray for y'all

We have a bridge like that between desoto wi and lansing ia, they are currently preparing to demolish it 😢
Hey Kurt I just signed up for disaster relief help with a local church that I volunteer with once a month for their food banks.
Kurt, yesterday's video had a white Mercedes, while you and Sarah were stopped, looking at the river, it went around a corner by you.
Hey Kurt, is there anyone in the area starting collections yet? Or is it still too early?
i feel bad fot the people flooded.but what a cool bridge.
People seriously underestimate the power of water and how easily you can get into trouble. Flooding kills more people than any other weather event. I live in the eastern U.S. and have seen some powerful winter flooding events caused by ice dams melting.
Kansas city Missouri is supposed to get hit hard with flooding from all the downflow from Iowa and Minnesota!
Awesome video. The flood plane maps for insurance will now change and new premiums will be so high I hope everyone can return if they want. Might not have been flood plane insurance where some or alot the houses were, but it will be now. I have seen this before really really hurt common singles and families. That video yesterday was really bad. I bet those two towns were not preimiums for flood plane insurance.
What kind of water birds are those around the 7:30 mark? They sound like a some type of swift.
Do you ever come through West Virginia? I live outside of Charleston. I would like to be able to meet you.
In Oto Iowa there’s a lot of junk cars right next to the river, how does the area get affected by that place flooding out?
Cedar River is nearing crest.
It’s a swift driver, what were you expecting
I've been across that bridge semi
Swifty swift surprised me big time.
Near estern iowa it has flood are pasture not yet by the rivier
