It’s a nice little payback for Ramos. He was beating Lee 8-1 in a duel a few months ago and Lee came back and pinned Ramos with a few seconds left in the 1st period. Wrestling runs on vengeance.

@@egseven "Freestyle" is the type of wrestling tecnique used. As for the move used by Ramos, we always called it a "gator-roll with hooks," but we were calling it that over 20 years ago. It is probably called something else by now. 20yrs ago, gator-rolls were very dangerous to try during a highschool or college wrestling match. It is deffinatly a high-risk-high-reward move. To execute, you have to expose your own back to the mat; and if the opponent grabs thier hands, tucks thier elbows, and sits out they will cause the move to stall in the north south position, while your back is on the mat.

Honestly from other videos I've seen the mom seems really cool. She was also a world-class athlete. She knows what that loss feels like and she hurts for her son, especially when he had the same thing happen in his high school career.

The level of dedication and thousands of hours put into the sport is something so many people will never understand. Dude was going for his 4th straight NCAA title, something like only 4 or 5 other ncaa wrestlers have done i think. She couldve reacted way worse and the way she reacted wasnt even that bad for the stakes of the match.

@@joshklein4825 Yep! I probably understand better than most. Twenty years ago I was a D1 swimmer. If my parents acted like this at any of my meets I would have been extremely embarrassed. I do have a tremendous amount of respect for wrestlers. It might be the only sport that has more difficult practices than swimming.

Amazing. The last 49 seconds of this match cost Spencer not only his 4th title, but possibly another Hodge trophy. The leading candidate before this match, he would now have to be a write-in since he was not one of the 10 Division I winners.

God Bless Spencer Lee for wrestling his heart out regardless of the loss. Don't give up brother! Good luck to Ramos if he can make it to the Olympics. Imagine Spencer going on to be a wrestling coach. That would be epic!

Announcer was a baby. There was nothing unfortunate about that. It was raw emotion. Coming from a loved one parent that was beautiful and artistic and appropriate.

Intense frustration isn't severe anger. It would be anger if she railed him for losing after. I really doubt she did that. He was probably devastated and she probably comforted him. He almost became the fifth wrestler to be a four time national champion. That's a lifetime of work, and getting within an inch of it.... and then poof, like that, it's over, and you didn't do it. She was devastated FOR him. She's not mad at him. It would be weird if her reaction were tame, actually. I mean, dude, look, there was one second on the clock. Come on. Imagine how that must feel for their whole family.

I thought the same thing. If she's reacting to that with rage, rather than compassion, it really makes me wonder what kind of house hold and upbringing he had. When I did sports growing up my parents would come and watch but ultimately didnt care how I did more than a passing comment on the ride home. In hindsight I'm glad they treated it that way.

Yeah most sports can easily reach a point where the game is already over but the clock is only at halftime. Wrestling is immune to that problem.

Ramos had him pinned 4 times. The ref just did not want to call it. I saw a 3X Virgina state champion get pinned and they didn't call it. When I ref a match I try not to show any bias one way or the other. Sometimes even the best wrestlers get caught. Look how bad Dake got dismantled in Tokyo. It happens!

Man, awesome moves by Ramos. Spencer won 3 national championships, his family should be happy about that.
