After 15 years Siri is still dumb as F so I don’t know how serious they are.

Google's AI will probably be worse on the iPhone than on Google's own Pixel phone. Anything else would be weird.

Chat got can’t even make images!!! Gemini can, so what is chat got superior in?

30B parameters would be enough to create a more flexible Siri. But it probably wouldn’t be smart enough for logical reasoning. Which isn’t the most important part for a personal assistant.

ChatGPT had only 1.5 b parameters and GPT-3 had 175 b parameters. That would place it more on the side of chatgpt and make it already a dated technology from 3 years ago.

Your privacy is already compromised since the "end-to-end encryption" on apple devices is turned off by default for icloud. So if you never bothered to turn it on apple was always able to just look through all your photos....

8:11 You can change the font size of individual apps, you just have to have the font icon in the command center, then while in a app, press and hold the font button and you can choose whether to change the font size for that specific app or for all apps.

In accessibility settings I wish Apple will decrease the minimum font size as with the larger pro max displays the smallest font size is still too large, especially in comparison with how far in the other direction you can take it.

I don’t care even a little bit about AI, because of the way it has been implemented so far. As long as this is something that I can completely ignore if I want, I’m fine with it. If it’s something that’s constantly shoved in my face, and all over my usual apps, this is going to be a huge bummer.

The best thing about Apple is Quality of Iphone it last easily 6 - 7 years; my daughter is using IOS 6 till date; no issues at all.

Google is fast and loose with clients security and privacy. I’d rather wait for Apple

The FDA created a new classification of hearing aids called Over the Counter (OTC) hearing aids in 2022, which became active in April of 2023. This new category creates hearing devices for adults with a perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. This category of hearing aids can only exceed a certain decibel level (SPL) and cannot go further in the ear than a described length. Apple would still need FDA clearance to market their devices as hearing aids under this new class of devices.

From a product perspective, I don't think it is entirely fair to compare MM1's 30 billion parameters with GPT-4. A 30B parameter model can me ran on many of Apple's higher-end devices. If Apple wants to offer its users a private LLM that runs on their devices, this would be a great model size. By contrast, GPT-4 and the larger Gemini models are not capable of running on consumer devices. This significantly limits the privacy that these models can offer end users.

S24 has a lot of features/customization indeed. But apple really stand out in excellent user experience by consistency. Apple is just so seamless. It's hard to explain but you would agree when you experience it in the actual use.

Why do you care if they license Google, or build their own? That’s just silly. Apple will use the underlying platform and put their own spin on it. Google is best-in-class, so what is the problem? When Apple is ready they will switch things over to their own AI platforms. I just don’t get what the problem is.

Because Google has the worst reputation on earth for harvesting everything possible on peoples lives. Of course it’s not alone, but Apple has been a closed system, of course they collect data but it’s used internally and not sold off too anyone and everyone who wants to pay for it, which is Googles business. Apple makes their money from overpriced devices. Stick anything Google on your device and it takes over. Giving Google this kind of access undermines any chance of keeping any perceived level of privacy. For those that that already install Google apps it probably makes no difference, except AI does add another level of harvesting ability.

AI is a major problem for every company and Apple are worried that by over spending on a product they are left in a crowded market with lots of nice features but nothing actually of real note. I have an Apple pro and a Samsung S24 Ultra and it's a great gimmick but as my daily driver I hardly use it at the moment. Maybe in time but as phones are eventually going to replace laptops on the lower end then I can then see the benefits. Apple really are starting to find problems on many levels and it would not surprise me to finally see Apple concentrating on the Smart tablet market and moving away entirely from laptops that are on the cheaper side. I hear there is a development on the horizon for a much larger ipad pro with lots of AI features unique to Apple. Hopefully???

I feel like my privacy is torn from me by then going with Gemini. I have no trust for Google whatsoever and I hate that I feel pitted with nowhere to go.

I would say that deal between Apple and Google is not about transfering Google’s AI into Apple hardware. It’s just not as Apple see own Company and products. Having in mind how Apple is focused on privacy I’m sure that they realized having too less data to compete with others. So, Imo deal is not about AI but about Data collected by Google to train their AI’s.

I'm not surprised that if ios 18 support list doesn't change because apple has dropped 3 generations of device is a 1 year period which is un apple like so I wouldn't even be surprised if apples give the iPhone xs/11 series ios 19 and drop those 2 generations together and drop the 12 series with ios 20, so far I see this iPhone xs series and 11 series and SE 2020 to end support together

Without good Ai in the iPhone, prices will fall on apple products and apple will have its own Kodak movement. Apple software previously held up prices, for six years customers have been hoping for a lift - continued hopes will not keep either customers or high product prices.
