My 2022 SEL AWD Lucid blue has been nearly flawless with a few little glitches in the assisted driving- it turned off on a bridge! 11,400 miles since March and really nice to drive a quiet and comfortable car. I have had only a few encounters with Electrify America- 50% success so far- they need a lot of work to make sure their stations are up and running.

Just have a warning for Ioniq 5 owners. As you pull into a parking space, pay attention to the front parking sensors. When it goes off, stop. The front underside of the car has no protection. So if you scrape a tall curb, you may do damage.

It's always good to have an understanding of your vehicle's dimensions as well. I haven't owned any new cars with sensors so I have full confidence in maneuvering my current vehicle manually. I'm looking forward to owning an Ioniq 6 in withing the next 4 years when battery tech is better and the model as a whole is upgraded. Though, I know for certain the length of that vehicle won't change much. It's definitely a long car and I'll have to get used to it lol

I have had my Ioniq 5 SE AWD eight months and LOVE IT. 22,000+ miles and no issues with build quality. Had the preconditioning update installed last month and now I'm back to summertime charging rate. I even saw 230+ kW at an upgraded EA station this weekend while it was in the mid 30°'s - AWESOME. Now a challenge - I don't think that you have put together a brake light video - I do believe this is a education opportunity for us Ioniq 5 owners as well as a design opportunity for Hyundai - if you drive exclusively in iPedal and you "feather" your braking, you can nearly come to a complete stop from 60 mph without the brake lights coming on. They eventually do at the point the foot is completely off the accelerator. So to correct that, I am learning the braking paddle game - so using the paddles to brake versus "feathering" the accelerator. Brake lights should be illuminated by 1) brake pedal engaged or 2) rate of deceleration greater than some federal standard and not the position of the accelerator.

We’ve had our Ioniq 5 SE AWD almost one year and just passed the 10,000 mile mark. The car has been nearly flawless and is very comfortable and fun to drive. The only flaw has been a faulty USB data port. No problems with the front parking sensors on the SE I5 as there aren’t any. We’ve only done one really extended 1,200 mile road trip so have only had to use DC charging maybe a dozen times. Mostly we’ve charged at home or at free public Level 2 stations when convenient. Efficiency over the entire 10k miles has been 4.2 miles/kWh. Total cost of charging has been $151. We keep most of our vehicles an average of ten years and expect to have the I5 that long.

Great video, thanks! We got a black SEL nine months ago and have put on 14k miles (4 road trips so far). Barely drive our SUV now. I really agree on a few points: IMO the black plastic on the SE and SEL looks a lot better than the gray on the limited. The car is very fun to drive and relaxing on long trips. Highway assist can be somewhat unreliable and turn off for no reason occasionally. EA is great when it works but it’s not always the most reliable. Preconditioning is fantastic but I really wish we could manually engage it. Keep up the great work!

Just passed 1 year and 25K kms mark here in Canada with a RWD. A couple of things we discovered/found useful: 1. using the frunk for the 110V charging cable helps when wanting to plug in overnight at at cottage and you have lots of things in the trunk. 2. the black bezel helps a lot with glare and just generally reducing the visual size of those giant white bezels. 3. driving with the rear window heater on in snowy conditions will keep the rear window more 'transparent' 4. the cloth seats we have are better quality than the regular 'imitation leather' ones

A few quick questions if you don't mind: - do all models including your RWD come with the huge glass roof? - how long did you have to wait after going on the waitlist, or did you get it from a dealership? The markup seems insane at the moment in BC where I am. - by blasting the front windshield defrost hot air, does that melt ice off so you don't need to scrape?

Love the one year review of your Hi5, I think all of your points were spot on. I’ve had 2 dealer installed updates (parking brake recall & preconditioning fix). I really like it for local and highway trips, the preconditioning will make long trips in colder weather more efficient by reducing the time spent charging. My avg efficiency is 3.0 kW/mi - but I do enjoy the acceleration. I did kill my 12v battery die at a local EV demo event last year, next time I’ll put it in Utility mode to prevent the extra drain on the battery caused by doors left open & lift gate being opened & closed a bunch. Again - thanks & great work!

I have ioniq 5 for almost a year now at 14000 miles, this is my 3rd car but my first EV, and this is hands down my favorite car to drive. Only complaint i have is the mostly white interior. sometimes when i go to work with little sleep, the interior is WAAAAY to bright when the sun shines in. but other than that, i love the car. it's been a year of driving and I'm still enjoying it. -- BTW charging this at home from work is also perfect since every time i go out, it's 95 to 100% charged. no more gas!! maintenance is super less, no more change oil, spent like $50 on every PMS (lubricated something) on the casa. Hands down after 3-4 years, it's going to be a cheap car if I factor in gas and maintenance (change oils).

Only issues so far have been loose trim on the back windshield (Dealer's fault, not installed fully correctly after windshield repair) and i had a weird glitch with the charging port where the button on the charge door wouldn't work and the pixel lights just faintly flashed. That issue got fixed by disconnecting the 12v for like 5 min and reconnecting. Everything else has been great!

Great and detailed review! I’m at 10 months of ownership and I agree with most of your points and I love my car. I don’t have any issues with the front parking sensors ever. I’ve got the SE so maybe they are different? I keep a ton of stuff in my glovebox but haven’t noticed stuff rattling. Maybe just put more stuff in there? 😂 I can’t keep the rear window clean no mater what. Hyundai needs to work harder on the software in their cars and update it more. This is essential in high tech vehicles.

I had a similar issue to what you described in my Honda Civic - does it happen to you when it's raining? For my Honda, they ended up replacing the front bumper under warranty to fix the issue. Apparently, they added a better hydrophobic coating on it to resolve the issue.

My question is what is the best 12V jump starter to buy to have on hand in case the 12V dies? Most of these are designed for jump starting ICE vehicles. Is there one that is best suited for an EV, like the Ioniq 5?

I'm new to your channel and I've subscribed. It's really nice seeing someone from Connecticut where I live. I had just watched a Vehicle-to-Load video that the owner had used power from his Ioniq-5 to power things in his home, to get an idea of how long his Ioniq's power would last during an extended grid power failure. And your video here had come up as a suggestion. I don't have much interest in EVs primarily due to human rights violations and Biden's unnatural push, but I like staying in the loop. You did a good job here and held my interest. It probably wouldn't matter to you, but I'd like to offer that the town I live in, Wallingford, owns the power company and as a result we have the lowest electric rates in the state, and I've been told nationwide but I can't confirm that. I look forward to what you bring in the future.

Corbin, I appreciate all the support and information your channel provides and the time you put in to support us. I have used your advice and links to add the 2 Inch, Tork-Lift Hitch and the OEM wiring harness. I use the hitch with my Thule Bike Rack and a hitch mounted platform to carry extra equipment when we travel with passengers. I have hooked up lights on the platform and the car assumes we have a trailer and adjusts the mileage down though we don’t lose that much range. I have the 2022 Limited with AWD and the panoramic roof. I would like to get roof rack cross bars but don’t want to get the rubber suction type that would put weight and pressure on the glass. I have seen a Limited with what looked like the Thule Aero Bars but I’m not sure. My local dealership does not carry any cross bars and has no recommendation or advice. I was wondering if your Hyundai rep knows anything about a recommended set of Roof Rack Cross Bars that will safely mount to the sides and work with the panoramic roof. BTW I have 11,800 miles so far and didn't get our Ioniq until July 1st. Love it! Thanks KR

I have an ev6 and I compared the rear with an ioniq5 that was charging right next to me, the ioniq5 rear window is more angled than the ev6 and I guess that's why some Ioniq5 owners have issues with rear visibility when it gets dirty. I just put rainx in the rear window and pretty much it

good review and you covered what i wanted to know about the sound system i took the ioniq 5 for a test drive and the audio sound was disappointing. i am a vwid4 owner i play mp3 from a usb and it shows the whole album cover while playing its disappointing that the ioniq 5 or kia ev6 does not do this. just wondering is there a way to enlarge the circle that shows part of the album cover

Thank you for your video. I do have a question. I am just looking into my next work car being an ev and know very little about their durability. I typically keep a car 10-12 years to get my money out of them. My question, would an ev be something I should even look at as I keep my cars so long? Do ev,s battery last that long? Should I just stick with a gas car? Thanks

In regards to the wireless Android system, it was a software update from Android auto and on the forum page, many were having issues regardless of the brand/type of phone. Google Play Store wasn't getting the new updates for a few months. But once the updates became available, it fixed the issue.

Corbin, I enjoyed all of your videos and have found them very helpful. One topic you've missed if you ever get your hands on another Limited is the voice rec. It is very quirky and there is not a lot of documentation on how to use it (it is buried in the infotainment manual that comes with the car). Another thing I find annoying with car is that Hyundai in their docs and videos say that if you press and hold the unlock button on the remote, it will unlock the car and open the front windows (which works great), however, it also says that if you press and hold the lock button, it will lock the car and close the windows. It only locks the car and the windows are unaffected. Finally, none of the voice rec commands work for the windows.

Thanks for the content! Can/have you addressed the expensive low-conductivity coolant change that seems to be required every 3 years for Ioniq 5 (but not for other EV's)? It may not be a showstopper but makes any claim that maintenance is cheaper than ICE cars disingenuous.

Great video, always watch them! I can confirm that I have no issues with the wireless charging pad with my Samsung S22 Ultra. I also use the Motorola MA1 and the connection is stable. Only rarely in some tunnels there is too much interference so the signal drops and automatically reconnects. But didn't happen in some months now. I live in Switzerland and drive the highest trim, bought in Germany.

Great video; addressing all the points and being fair and balanced. Totally agree about the random front parking sensors beeping like crazy while stopped in traffic. I also turn off the lane-keep assist, sometimes the car swerves quite radically for no reason, which can be a bit disconcerting. I bought all-year tyres (Michelin Cross-Climate 2) which I had the dealership put on for me, so I never used the foam-lined tyres that come with the car, I have them in my garage and will probably give them a try in the summer. Had my AWD since the beginning of March 22 and immediately installed a battery monitor and bought a portable charger, after seeing a couple of scary videos by Mr EV - but so far not had my 12v battery die on me (hope I haven't jinxed it by saying that). As for other issues, I've had none whatsoever - my brother-in-law bought an EV6 and his heating system has never worked properly and he is still waiting on parts. Not great when it has been as cold as it has this winter here in Iceland. Sitting in my car (with the light interior, like yours) is much more pleasurable than the EV6; I felt cramped both in the front and the back. We call our car TARDIS, for obvious reasons. ("It's bigger on the inside"...) I think probably the worst thing about the I5 has been the waiting times for new cars and also the lack of spare parts - I get a bit miffed that they will be pushing out the I6 and even the I7 while prospective owners of the I5 are on a two-year waiting list! However, all things considered (even lack of rear wiper) I am super pleased with the I5 - it's a pleasure every time I get into the car. Have really enjoyed and been educated by your videos - keep up the good work!

How do you like the Cross Climate 2 tires? Those have been on my short list for a year or so but the fact that they’re not EV specific always worried me in terms of tire noise. Did they greatly increase noise levels?

  • @oliverkentish9468

    @oliverkentish9468

    Жыл бұрын

@@TheIoniqGuy To be honest, the increased noise did not occur to me when I decided to buy them, as I had not realised that the car came with foam-lined tyres. I and my brother-in-law spent quite a lot of time online checking out all kinds of all-year tyres as studded tyres for the winter here is still allowed, but actively discouraged here in the Capital region at least. We both liked the reviews of the CrossClimate2 and apparently they seem to handle well with an electric vehicle; I was worried about that aspect as well, in case the walls were not strong enough, but so far they seem just fine. So far they have held up really well here, even in a good deal of snow. Yes, road noise has to be more than the ones that came with the car, but I have no way of comparing them until I switch over to the others. Also, Icelandic roads, even here in Reykjavík are not good and are noticeably more uneven than elsewhere, so road noise is probably more here than in the 'civilised' world ;-)

The parking sensors only activate on 2023 SEL when you go into reverse. You can manually activate them when parking forward. Must be a 22 issue... Also, what door edge guards did you buy? Thanks! edit - a suggestion to keep the jump battery in the glove box. Too cold outside it will affect that small battery. You're more likely to keep it topped off if it's inside the car and not have it dead when you actually need it. Used it on a friend's ICE mazda the other day and it barely had enough juice after 3 months.

Hey random question for you? Does your Ioniq 5 or any that you’ve test drove make a high pitched frequency sound that’s barely noticeable when stopped at a red light for example. It has to be quiet to make its out but it’s kinda annoying
