Fantastic review, was by far the most informative ioniq 6 video I've seen thus far! Plus props that you're able to film and capture all those details off the rip without any cuts, quite impressive.
It's a great vehicle, have had my Transmission Blue Limited Ioniq 6 since May 1st. Great build, road handling and performance. Got my $7500. kickback by leasing and paid $400. to end lease! So glad it doesn't look like another Tesla on the road. So nice!
Amazing video. Thank you so much Kyle for this review. I was waiting for an Ionic 6 review.
Really appreciate detailed unbiased reviews. Thanks for mentioning route planning and pointing out to Hyundai that it needs to be better, also that they dropped the ball not bothering to implement plug&charge. Looking forward to efficiency tests.
Great review, we were excited about the IONIQ 6 but ended up going with the EV 6 instead. I do actually love the look of the IONIQ 6, but understand that for most people it is l]a love-or-hate situation. Keep up the great work, we love your channel.
Great (as always) video Kyle! Love color of the car - bit wired. And loverly scenery in Arizona!
A great honestly objective review as always we can count on you for a fun and informative video, looking forward to your road testing insight.

Always appreciate how Kyle goes in depth on the details.
I agree with you, you did bounce around quite a bit. You do make up for it (mostly) with your "range" of information. Looking forward to a well-planned drive video.
It's about time (you reviewed the Ioniq 6)!
Window controls in the center is great…had a E46 BMW years ago, loved it.
I rode in one in South Korea. The ride was overly firm. Even on the decently maintained streets of Seoul, the ride was stiff.
Great looking vehicle, reminds me a lot of the 1995 Infiniti J30, which was also a great design...good review....
PHOENIX NATIVE HERE! This is awesome!
Yesssss! Been looking forward to this one! Great
Please include chapters in such long videos. Thanks
Seeing your comment about the headroom . . . I was worried about that due to the sloping rear end. I checked the stats on the Hyundai web site and the SEL without the sunroof has almost 2 inches more headroom, front and rear, compared to the Limited. I will be interested in what you find when you start testing the efficiency - the numbers seem considerably better for the Ioniq 6 than the Ioniq 5, some of that may be due to the lower drag coefficient but I also wonder about the wheel/tire selection on the 6 vs. the 5. Clearly the 18 inch wheels on the SE make a big improvement in efficiency. Thanks for another great review - can't wait for the driving review!
I like it. It looks new while also having a sort of retro vibe to it.
the car is beautiful.
I think the back looks great. Front a bit plain, but side (with nicer wheels) looks great too
16:19 If you have a look at the front door inside, its shape is curved so that you can spread your leg. And that’s why they moved window switch into middle to make inner door’s gap as little as possible.
Here in Norway they only sell the 77kwh version and its almost fully specced! Only extras you can pay for is 20 Inch wheels, sunroof and digital mirrors. Else than that the car has everything. The delivery time is super short aswell, i ordered mine last friday and ill get it by tomorrow, so cant complain about the delivery times here atleast!
Hi Kyle, love all ur videos for their quality and quantity. With the AWD configuration of the Ioniq 6 you said that the front axle can be disconnected on highway driving, does the the Tesla AWD LR have the same economical function available? :)
sometimes i wonder who in this world is having more fun than Kyle with electric vehicles......upvoted!!!!
This is such a great video. So much detailed info I wasn't aware of. I was convinced I wanted the RWD SE for the maximum EPA range, compromising on winter drivability as I live in an area with snow. Now, with the front axle disconnect in ECO mode, maybe AWD SEL is the way to go. Looking forward to the range tests in ECO mode!

The ioniq 5 is the same way with the front motor disconnect. It still doesn't get the same range as a rwd though. Any time the cruise control is on it disconnected the front motor as well

No experience with winter range yet, but with my Ioniq 5 AWD over the last few weeks with mostly local city driving in warm weather I've been getting efficiency that would put me at around 300 mi on a full charge. And I like to hammer the accelerator every now and then to remind myself it's an EV :). City driving should be comparable on the Ioniq 6, and highway should be much better with the far superior aero.
@joel89039
Жыл бұрын
@@mousepad3000 I have had my ioniq 5 for 2 winters now. The range definitely drops by about 10-20% on the highway depending on temps obviously. I also found that city range is way less just because we make lots of short trips heating up the car frequently.
I really appreciate your thorough and detailed reviews. Are the slides you included available anywhere, or are they from a press packet?
Nice unbiased review.

Great video as always, lots of great information. If I hadn’t recently got my Nissan Ariya after waiting for a year with my reservation I would have considered this car. Specs indicate a great road tripper. The EV market is changing so rapidly but needed to jump with the choice I made, which I’m very happy with. Kyle, you make lots of great points about the M3 but I can’t get over the styling, so boring and generic looking. Plus I live in an area with extremely high M3 and MY density, so didn’t want to be another sheep in the pack. Please do a review of the Nissan Ariya AWD or FWD, don’t know why it has stayed off your radar; has beautiful styling; premium interior, very smooth and quiet ride plus lots of seating room.

As a previous owner of both a Fiero and Mini Cooper S. I prefer the window and door switches on the center console personally.
@22:50: Thanks for revealing your personal height (about the same as mine); this is crucial in estimating how comfortable the car would be for a prospective buyer.
I wish the base tires and rims were available for all trims and the others were stand alone options. When I road trip to see family fast charging is not close at all. To me the full glass on the Model 3 is a negative here in TX so that is not an issue.
With our Ioniq 5 AWD in Eco mode the front wheels do engage from a stop to about 12-15 mph or when ascending a very steep grade. At least according to the power distribution graphic on the instrument panel screen they do. I agree that the actual range difference between the AWD and RWD models of the Ioniq 5 is less than the official numbers. Lastly, a fixed unshaded glass roof is not a plus for me.
Finally something other than a lifted hatchback. Love to own one eventually
Kyle on my Ioniq 5, you can filter the chargers, to High DC, DC or AC or combo, so I expect that would be the same when route planning.
@KyleConner

Possibly, but it should do it automatically.
What ro you think of the location of all the buttons, switches and knobs on the Model 3 compared to this? 😅 Many of us like those kinds of things.
The back end reminds me of a SAAB 900 from the '90s
Great review. Looking forward to seeing its charging curve. Gosh that route planning needs a lot of work.
Absolutely agree I HATE the roof line. But…the rear absolutely slaps me as very Porsche 911 turbo. Especially with the “wing”.
The front facia reminds me of a Supra. Really nice. Hyundai is making some really nice vehicles.
I have a GV70 that will be delivered by Easter if you want to come back to Atlanta to film some videos :-)
I’ve owned an Ioniq 5 for about 4 months now, and have taken two 700 mile road trips. One of the biggest reasons I chose it, is because I specifically did not want a Tesla, and I wanted 300 miles of range. I think I worried it too much about range. When I go on a road trip, at 52 years old, I’m ready for a break every couple of hours anyway. I generally charge that often whether I need to or not. And this Hyundai/Kia platform, charges wonderfully.

@@tonyn3227 I’m happy you’re pleased with your Tesla. All EV enthusiasts owe that company a debt of gratitude for pioneering the segment. Also, we’re spending big bucks for these cars, and we should be comfortable with our choices. However I have to disagree with your comment on charging infrastructure. Both of my 700+ road trips were a breeze. This week I drove from Vegas to San Diego, and had ZERO issues charging. The EA 350 KW chargers got me on my way in 20 minutes, (+\- a few depending on state of charge, but never more than 25) and while I did encounter one “dead” charger, I simply moved over to the one next to it, and it was all good. Have you used the EA system, or are you basing your opinion on something else? Genuinely curious.

@E S I charge on tesla superchargers only, but I did try charge point, by a mall looked warn out and it didn't work, I also tried at electrify America and out of 4, 2 were down, I just don't bother anymore just use tesla, you were lucky that you haven't had issues on your trips, including Kyle on thi Chanel and other ones, claim its a. @Bum_Hip

@@tonyn3227 it’s possible that issues are geographically dependent. Maybe they have their act together better on the west coast than the Rocky Mountain region. Plus the weather is much more temperate here than the much of the country. I watched an EA review he did on charging in sub zero weather. The title suggests it was not possible, yet he ultimately did get his charged. I found it misleading. To be clear, Kyle does great, in depth work, but like most things in life, things are not always as black and white as we might wish. That said, I have no doubt Tesla Chargers are the leading network, and are forcing EA(and others) to improve. For that I’m grateful.
Having Anna drive the AWD and the RWD in the snow would be a very helpful video to show why people don't need AWD.
I like the switches in the middle. A full glass sunroof like the Tesla is a disaster where I live, would need a shade, like the Ioniq 6. The rear bumpers is a bit cluttered, otherwise I think it’s more desirable then the model 3. I like the shape, but that is an individual preference.
I'd assume for the EPA range they have to test it in AWD mode since a large part of the upgraded spec is the AWD, so if you were to have to use it for bad conditions that would be the range you should expect from the AWD model.
those aero flat wheels has been trending with holographic rainbow glitter sheet stickers mod with new-tro trending currently in korea. actually preferred wheel for KDM
Long range version aero wheels are beautiful. Very unique.
Looks like they fused the Tiburon, the CLA and the 911 into one body. Can't believe this made its way out of the design studio.
Hope it’s the kind of car that looks better in person. That charge port is going to be an issue I think in some instances. Otherwise it really looks like a viable option for some.
Good video 🙂 you are the best at car test😁👏👍
Kyle is it possible to make videos like this in 2 parts? An interesting topic though.
Kyle and Pop's Connor make EVs fun.
It dirves me mad that the EV6/Ioniq 5 doesn't have the ability to LOCK the car and close the trunk with one button on the hatch/trunk. Glad to see it here. I'm interesting if I can retrofit to the EV6 as the button size looks the same.
Just a guess - the route planning doesn't know where to plan your second charging stop until it knows how much you charge it at the first stop. Not as comprehensive a planner but I could see it as a programming option.
I love the back end, but when I buy another car it will prob be a model 3. Great video, thanks.
So, the SEL AWD edition is rated at 270 miles combined. The Hyundai website shows the combined and highway MPGe rating and it loses about 9% for highway from combined. That 270 becomes 246. You will charge at about 10% so another 27 off so you end up at 219 for your first leg. Then you can only charge to 80% quickly so another 54 off the top so you are at 165. So roughly charging for 20 minutes to an hour every 2 hours of driving... Even in the most efficient vehicles this is what it seems to always work out to.
I prefer my Ioniq 5. Except, it has been in the shop for about a month with an onboard charger problem (ICCU). 🤒
The base long range rear wheel drive sounds great for a commuter. Would rather have that than a Prius Prime.
love the channel and the vids! Beauty is subjective for sure as I really dig the backside of this car, I think it looks cool! I agree that I wish they didn't use cheap plastic on the key, the interior doors etc. For a $56k car, I would want better.....Im looking to get an EV after my Alfa lease ends this year and really torn between these ioniq's, Tesla, mach e etc...ugh

Tesla is hard to beat. Many things stand out. The Tesla sound system is phenomenal.
I like the back view
I'm glad that model 3 is getting competition, I know sedan aren't popular but I'm pretty sure they're lighter to build than SUVs. Can't to see how the VW id5 compares when that comes out.
Wow, looking at the Trim/Range/MPGe table, the I6 has a narrow optimum for power and weight. Std range output is less efficient than larger battery, and any added options notably knock the efficiency down. Guess headwind and cargo will all sting range a fair bit. Thankfully it starts at an amazingly high efficiency for this size vehicle!
Kyle, you mentioned that your/our efficiency drops using I pedal. I own an Ioniq 5, limited 320 hp…When I first started driving it I used I pedal a majority of the time when driving it. Then another owner mentioned that using level 2 your efficiency will increase. I normally drive using eco, with level 2 regeneration. Although I have never let the battery go lower than 35%. ( I normally charge to 89%.) When I crunch the numbers the range would be 290 to 295 miles. I live in Northern NJ and use preconditioning, thank God it works.. Electrify America is spotty at best and is the weakest link with chargers often not working at capacity, with some units purposely lowered for what they call a program update. It has been over a month and this alleged update hasn’t been installed. There are no 350 kw charges within 35 miles of my home and EA has no updates planned that they will share, when asked. Have you done a test with level 2 regeneration? Could you, I would be interested in your results. Btw, I love the car. Thank you for doing such thorough reviews. They are much appreciated.
Could the range difference be down to the extra weight of the additional motor and all the additional gubbins that need to be connected to it?
24:40, the RWD has a bigger frunk, I saw one the other day :) It's probably up to 30 cm (10-12 inches) deep
Night time at the back in the dark best look😂
should have been a hatchback like the model s
Cool slides !!
What is the width of the trunk opening. This is not listed anywhere. It looks quite wide and I would love to compare it with the width of the honda fit. The fit's opening is just enough to allow so much utility and this is the kind of thing you never think you will use but probably will if you have kids. Things like a stroller with a box of costco groceries beside it and such.
how does the audio compare to the lucid air? You said the lucid basically had no subwoofer
I love the Ioniq 6, but I have yet to see a SINGLE photo or video of the U.S. or Canadian versions of this car with a U.S. or Canadian license plate ON THE FRONT. I am sincerely interested in how and where it attaches, and if it interferes with either the forward-facing cameras or the cooling vents. If someone has a link to such a photo please post it here. Thanks.
I do think that's the color I'd have. Very nice (in this color) from all angles in my opinion. I just wish the silver bits were matte black.

It would have looked to European or German, boring. Its Korean its meant to be distinctive, not like all the other cars in its market segment.
And it doesn't have the Tesla supercharging network (that's changing as they open to CSS but it will take some time). Do you think the Hyundai Ionic 6 is compatible with CSS retrofitted Tesla superchargers? That charging port is concerning. Would be an interesting video!
I wonder if they moved the window switches and other stuff off of the door so that the door panel is universal worldwide regardless of drive side.
I'd be very interesting one of these, be we can't get the SE LR in UK, just the premier and ultimate and the price is not great. Shame.
Dodge challenger hellcat has a steering wheel that lights up the hellcat logo in red! It’s sick.
Lots of little things removed from Ioniq 5 to Ioniq 6. The Ioniq 5 has rubber pads for the cup holders, it has a lid for the frunk and also the hood has sound proofing. All gone on this Ioniq 6 Limited. Nice that the Ioniq 6 has the aluminum pedals, I had to buy mine from South Korea to add those to my Ioniq 5. Steering wheel buttons are swapped left/right vs Ioniq 5. So it's like the Kia EV6 now. Cruise controls on the left, Media on the right.

Great Video! I was going to purchase the #ioniq6 this weekend, however every Hyundai dealership in FL wants to charge a adjusted market value and fictitious add-on of about $7500 on each vehicle. So, I walked away. Next day, I ordered a Tesla Model S and will take a delivery within next week and half.

Only $7500, compared to the $15k my local dealerships are adding on, I laughed at them. Every 4th July we give away two cars at each of our casinos, so I was ordering 58 of them almost $900 k extra, yeah no thanks, I ordered model 3's instead.
Man you need to do a range test with Kia EV6 RWD wind I hit 2 times in 12.000 miles over 400 miles. Please you need to do drive test with this specific Ev6 because I think people they substitute this RWD car
Interesting impression. Loved the Ioniq 5 and this car looks great. Still can't get over the probability that Kia/Hyundai quality is sub-par and the car will fall apart after a few short years. I can see the paint bubbling, seats tearing, lights coming apart, and trim falling off.
I would believe the AWD is heavier and also tires seems a tad wider than thr RWD

The Iconic 5 is probably one of the better styled traditional format compact SUV / cross overs. But personally I find this format of car too boring in general. Tesla broke the mould with the model Y but it looks too much like an egg for me. The Model 3 is such a design success that I believe it has triggered a resurgence in demand for sedans in general. The ideal format for me is the Model S, with the style of a sedan and practically of a hatchback.

This is the first SUV I've ever owned and I largely agree with you about the format. As a new parent, however, I do like the extra cargo space. :) I previously drove sports coupes and sedans exclusively.
I’m pretty sure I saw this exact car in Tempe
Awesome review, Kyle. To your subjective comment about styling, totally agree…I’m opposite from you and think the best view is the rear 3/4. - LOL I’m underwhelmed by the range which is a bummer. I have a ‘22 Niro EV, I average way above the EPA rating in normal driving but road tripping is another story. I was really hoping this car would produce well over 300+ mi in top trim AWD. For that reason I feel like my next car will be a Tesla. 270 Barely changes the road tripping distance between stops for me…and that’s fully charged, most people don’t realize that between your 2nd and 3rd stop you’re dealing with charging to 80% max (most people) and trying not to go too far below 20% before charging. 60% (80-20) of 270 is only 162 miles, barley 2 hrs or driving out west. Charging will blow the doors off my Niro but the Tesla will not only charge nearly as fast, it will likely have available chargers. DC fast charging in I-15 is pretty sad with broken chargers and lines.
Oh, I'd love to see you take 87 to Payson and/or 89 to Prescott.
Lease then early buyout to get at least a portion of the credit?
Robocop will like to drive a Hyundai IONIQ 6 police car. I'm a fan of sci fi and futuristic technology stuff.
I actually prefer to have my key fobs light. I tend to have it on a key ring with a bunch of keys.
The slopping back fro the side to me looks old school European. Like a 70's Citron?
I wonder if the route planner put the AC charger in because you selected "cost effective" instead of "fastest".
Kyle might not want to admit it, but the "secret sauce" for the classic Ioniq's and Kona's better efficiency is they're both FWD only.
Why. Why did they change which side the steering wheel controls are compared to the IONIQ 5? Could this be a right-hand-drive spec steering wheel by accident? Perhaps there won't be much overlap between IONIQ 5 and 6 drivers, but that just seems like an odd choice.
Range is affected by the giant wheels on the higher trims AFAIK. Like 50 extra miles if you go with the smaller ones
