InWin D-Frame mini PC Case Review | Truly Unique!
Ғылым және технология
InWin's reputation for quality has only risen within the ranks in the last 2 years. It's great to see a company take a drastic shift in production levels to stand out within the competition. The D-Frame mini is an aluminum cage masterpiece that deserves some macro attention from our lens. Enjoy the review!

I just purchased this case for $150 on the used market. So excited to build it out!
Your reviews are always complete and well shot.
Two years later it's still an amazing case for ITX systems.
Beautiful review
That is some beautiful TIG welding on the chassis. You can see the very high build quality.

I noticed that to, whoever does the welding is extremely good.
Idea: Remove the drive tray thingies completely. Add brackets/mounting apparatus to the bottom, and a few SSD mounts at the back. Use all the saved space to make ATX and Micro-ATX motherboards compatible.
You did that build dirty
news flash everyone i've run my pc for a couple years without side panels and it collects less dust than when the panels were on.

what?
This is my guy for case reviews.
As a TIG welder I have to say those joint welds look awesome and really strong. So don't worry about breaking the metal construction :P
The amount of open space and solid metal allows for some good customization options. I like this case.
I have the ncase M1. I love mini itx form factor.
Next to impossible to find this for sale online. :/
Should I buy this case or the Jonsbo mod1 mini?
this will go great in my dust-free clean room!
Definitely more usable then their last couple cases. Honestly if it wasn't for the price it'd be pretty smexy choice. I get why it's 350 though so I won't complain too much. It looks like a small power generator ;p More at home on a construction site then a computer desk.
@HardwareCanucks Out of interest, what camera do you use?
Hey, will there be a review of the Thermaltake Core V31?:)
I would wrap wires around those bars like crazy
Anybody know if they sell the colored rubber pieces???
I think if it comes with extra fan spots and support larger motherboard, it would be awesome.
Do you think, with removal of the HDD trays and a little bit of modding, that this case would take an ATX motherboard? There seems to be a lot of wasted space with a Mini ITX system installed
do you use 4:4:4? can you explain what it is? is there a video?
I really like the song. Need to know what it is.
Now I want Fractal to be inspired by this case by making a simply accented version of this that is full enclosed, dust proof and half the price.
Can you do a review on the Cougar 67M5 Volant?
Wouldn't there be a dust issue with this case ?
Great case. I would have installed a 240mm AIO in the system if I were building it but thats just me. The only draw back i see with the case is its price point. I would have liked to see a price in the $200 range. I know coming from inwin, the case is bound to be expensive but the 901 is cheaper then this and I feel like their price points should be closer together.
I want one of these so bad.
To me, this case is more useful for people who want to showcase their systems on shows or expos or anything else like that. Not the ideal home use or office type
me encanta este case quien lo hizo supo hacer todo bien
This case is just so incredibly niche. I'd rather go for something like the Enthoo Evolv if I'm looking for an all-aluminum case with functionality. I agree that this case would make an interesting showcase piece for conventions and whatnot, but I do have to wonder if it wouldn't be better to go for a custom/modded case at this pricepoint.
You will have to keep a air compresor next to it on your desk to keep it clean .....other than that i love it. But $350.00 that is high for some pipe welded together
This would be a cool case for mineral oil since it has the refined edges and design.
For 350$ its could have support full ATX mobo, move the hard drives to the bottom.I could do some good modding to it if it was a 100 or 2 less.Great case for lan party an test rig.
If flip the PSU mount, it should support MATX motherboard.
Its nice but when I can buy a Caselabs SHT10 for less then their latest S-Frame and their smaller form factor cases cost less then this and offer more space and flexability.
Seems like a fancy test bench to me :)
I feel like the PSU mounting should be in that huge empty space where the fan bracket would be, and the fan bracket should be under the GPU, you know where you can actually help cool components.
This would be awesome, but it seems there is so much wasted space, that it seems that you could move the hard drive bays to the bottom, move the bottom fan mount to the front and you could squeeze a matx board in it, with maybe minor changes.
i love your reviews :D and am sure you love me

this is way too expensive it doesnt deserve that price with that little functionallity
@T0BBi94

mario zavaleta It is not about functionallity.. In Win is starting to build more elegant cases that often put design above functionallity, like the 901,904, S-Frame, H-Frame etc. For someone who want to show of their watercooling at a LAN where the functionallity does not matter it is perfect! You pay for the perfection in build quality and elegant design, when to think about it is just like apple.. :P
Pm price full set
Review aerocool xpredator cube or ds cube
This is NOT a case. That can pass a test bench and nothing more.

Ali Abdallah sure ive had it for a year now with a custom loop for my gpu and cpu this thing is gorgeous with a loop in it
Whats the name of the intro song?
Not gonna lie this thing looks pretty sweet but I'm thrown off by the mini ITX motherboard. Is all that extra space intended to be used for a custom water cooling loop or what?
@T0BBi94

I agree it would be better with a m-atx board
i really like the industrial design of this case, but now that i see a mini-itx board in it i feel like it's not really worth that price and there is alot of open space that i feel is just empty and cant really fit anything else in there.
what about installing a bluray drive.......
This case is perfect for what it is, but I don't know what it is. I cannot find a practical reason for such a case. I have cats, kids, dust. and humidity, so this case won't work for me.

I can imagine it would be helpful for developers maybe? If you need to test a game/software on 20 graphics cards this might make it easier. but not really sure if it'd be much easier than just taking all of the sides off of something like the thermaltake core v21 and using that.
Not sure how Inwin has not gone bankrupt by now.
I love this case it is so cool. Just I don't like the pirce
I think this is going to be shown off at plenty of booths at computer events, but I don't see many people wanting to spend $350 on a case that won't want either additional mounting options or a smaller form factor. Neither the less, I always like seeing innovation in the computer market, and if this sort of tubular frame design somehow does manage to capture peoples imagination we will certainly see options coming to the market with better features or a lower price.
InWin case OR GTX 970, hmmm - great review - thanks..

Is there an atx version of this exact case? An answer would be very much appreciated

Yes . The d-frame. It's bigger
Sorry to revise this, but.... it is still a cool case. Bought two this year, and modern components just make them cooler.
People complaining about the price act like they were considering of getting this. Just stop.
I wish you'd stand next to the case or mention it's volume or something so I'd know how big it is. Nothing for reference with all the fancy camera work
I literally started laughing when you started to say there was little ventilation ... there's nothing to ventilate its open
Why no matx :(
did you actually use the kahoot theme for your intro
if this thing came with blue knobby bits im buying this shit
looks cool :)
saying $350 for a min-itx cage is expensive would be an understatement...
that price tag hurts
The D-Frame Mini has a big bro, as Paul from Newegg can atest to it.
On amazon it’s $179 as of now
They should of made this ATX compatible then it would appeal to a much bigger market.
It's really interesting, but for the price... you could just get so much more. Sure, 'better' cases for less might not have the build quality or compact size or that open look with large tempered glass panels, all of which you might want for a build, but still... Seems like an expensive case for a very specific target.
An aluminum h440 edition made by inwin. The perfect case...
Noice Case!
This would look badass as a mineral oil pc, maybe in a big aquarium

I just bought this case because it looked unique and it was cheaper than most other good looking cases (around 150), came to watch reviews and it turns out it is a very old case which used to be expensive, do you people think this is a good option for a modest secondary PC? I'm not going to watercool or do any other expensive thing to the build.
Goregous case. But that price is a major con. Ill stick with my CM centurion 5 II for now
I can see why its not for everyone
I wish they had this in full tower ;---;

+Beegee Banbury They do.
It looks like a cool case, I love the industrial open chassis design, but for $350? Inwin you guys really need to lower your prices if you want people to buy these cases. I would have thought about it for $200, but for $350 you can basically get any case on the market, with the exception of a few extremely high end brands/models.
But.. it has no walls?
YAS
"Hello, everyone'!
I wouldn't pay more than 120 for it. It would be interesting for a test rig or something, but the price is ridiculous for what you get. It's missing so many important features.
Honestly, it really should have supported Micro ATX, since how many ITX motherboards have more than 2 fan connectors? 2's pretty much the ITX standard. $350 with no rubber grommets and no rubber for hard drives? Maybe later. Only one place for only a 240mm radiator? Absolutely disgusting. The SSD's/HDD's should have been mounted at the bottom with at least a 360mm and 280mm radiator mount at the front.
Once again I will stick the NZXT Phantom 530
I'd be sold if it could fit an ATX board and was $100 cheaper!
You realize that you mentioned air flow - twice - and noise in a completely open-air case, don't you?
This looks like some component that has been removed from a much larger construction. Vehicle, airplane, spaceship :)
Not a test bench tho
like a motherboard :-D
it disappoints me that they chose to choke any graphics card other than reference or liquid cooled by placing the power supply on that side. makes mo sense why they couldnt have put it on the other side of the tray or given an option to orientate the tray 180 degrees. thats what broke this case for me since i actually looked at getting it
Looks like the dewalt radio but red :/
That case looks like a dust trap, especially where the cables are being routed at the back. I can imagine all sorts of pests being attracted to the warmth to make it their home, too, like spiders, cockroaches or mice.
@HardwareCanucks

jublywubly Not that type of purpose, this is an excellent show/portable piece but not very practical for home use. Plus if you expect mice or cockroaches to live in your PC, you gotta move...:p

HardwareCanucks Yeah. I was kinda exaggerating about the creatures. I was originally going to say "elephants" at the end of the list. :-p I built my PC with a massive Thermaltake Armor+ case, because my last case used to get too hot in the summer. This case has fantastic air flow and enough space for two computers! lol
One drop and the computer

@1sm0Laitela

dumkopf The benefit from push and pull is very minimal. If you use only one 240 rad your pump and fans would be running at crazy rpm to keep the components cool under heavy gaming or editing.

They really wouldn't be. reddit.com/r/watercooling.
All InWin case is over priced... but almost all of the case looks cool.
Sorry but I just can't get accustomed to the idea I should mount a tiny mb in a Lage case and waste 50% of the theoretically available space. Then the price breaks the deal completely. Target audience : gold rolex wearers.
cant you mod it, so an ATX MB can be used?

Rasmus Pagter they have a full sized model.
At first I thought it was tacky but it really grew on me over the video. Way out of my price range and I'm way too paranoid to have an open PC like that, still look. Props to the designer.
In win certainly dont like dust filters
Still really confused who would buy this exactly.
