Technically speaking...No But practically, Yeah
I think that Namibia did actually claim that the border was approximately the red line shown at 1.41, but willingly accepted an adjustment to the border so that Botswana could have a bridge to Zambia on it's own territory
I've crossed the bridge connecting Zambia and Botswana. You are able to see all 4 countries so it was a pretty cool experience

@chigthenig, I have also, back in 2000. I drove across borders on this trip, renting my car in Johannesburg, and driving it up to Victoria Falls, then after visiting Botswana's Chobe N.P. the next day, I returned to Jo'burg, thus being able to honestly say I've been to Zambia. Back in '87, I was also able to visit 4 Corners in the USA, which is where I live (the country, not the place). How does the US happen to be able to have built McMurdo Base many years back, especially since it didn't get shown on this map?
You could've mentioned the Mongolia China Russia Kazakhstan border region which from a world map may seem like a quadrupoint. But in reality it's just Russia bordering China there and Kazakhstan is like a hundred kilometres away from Mongolia.

There's a near quadripoint between Armenia, Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan too (8km) Depending on how you deal with the border dispute, a close contender for a quintipoint could be India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikan, and China
I think it's not a quadripoint...but still interesting.

A similar point exists between Turkey, Iran, Armenia and Nakhichevan, and the width of the connecting piece here is very limited as well. There exists only a land bridge (not rail one) between Nakhichevan and Turkey. This used to be a perfect quadripoint, but Turkey acquired land from Persia in early XX century to gain a corridor to Nakhichevan.

Canada also has a quadripoint that few outside of Canada likely know about-the point where Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut meet.
@kenaikuskokwim9694

This channel recently covered Nunavut. Now you get into layers of definition-- four independent nations, four US states (with sovereignty shared with their federation), two provinces and two territories... There is a rural crossroads near us where four counties meet; I drove the family in a circle around it. Incidentally, U-Haul has Nunavut-themed trailers, but you cannot drive them into the territory as there are no roads leading in. Maybe they can be ferried.
i think italy has a decapoint on mount etna. it's the point with the most borders
Love the videos great knowledge
I hate how people act like its up for debate whether or not this is a quadrapoint. it just isnt. fucking acting like its really special when its not at all, complete clickbait

you don't find it all interesting that it's so close??? Since there are none, it's interesting how close this actually is...I'm surprised your interested in geography videos if you can't appreciate the uniqueness of such a border situation
I think the strip of land in Botswana that protrudes between Namibia and Zimbabwe on one side of the Zambezi River is about 150 metres (499 ft) wide. Then the borders of all three countries extend into the river. Zambia is on the other bank of the Zambezi River. This piece of Botswana is just wide enough for a lookout or a road. I think it is small enough to qualify for a quadripoint border, rather than a tripoint border.
Can you cross from Namibia to Zimbabwe by showing your passport only once (by a boat maybe)? Or can you ship good between these 2 countries without dealing any other customs? All 4 countries should be “connected”, right? So I rely on passport/customs checkpoints by land/water.
Geography Bible, how does the US happen to be able to have built McMurdo Base many years back, especially since it didn't get shown on this map?
If it was like six feet apart and you could touch all four at same time, then yes. But 100 meters is too far.
I would find it cool if the four countries decided too make it an official quadripoint.
I would not consider it a quadrapoint. First, it's not, as you pointed out. Second, there's a bridge between two of the four countries, specifically in the short border between them. Third, that weird extension of Namibia has some intentional reason for it (that I forgot) that is somehow related. But the details matter in my opinion. Two tripoints. But still interesting to think about. Thanks!
This is really good video with new knowledge. I think no one noticed it before. Thank you for this wonderful video. Good work.
They should adjust the borders to make a true quadripoint, then turn it into a tourist attraction.
You mentioned eight countries meeting but only name and show seven (Australia, UK, Argentina, France, Chile, New Zealand, and Norway)
I walked 10 kms north to Norway, 10 kms east to Australia and 10 kms south and ended up back at my starting point. Where am I? 😊
Why does Hancock, Maryland exist?
Technically, yes. There is just a bridge in the way and somebody had to own it (Botswana).
One interesting thing is that Angola is not that far from this quadripoint also
Check where Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia meet. That's sooo close to a quadripoint.
There is actually at least one place in the world where FIVE places meet up like that. I'm not sure what you'd call that--a heptapoint or a septapoint? Anyways, it's in the middle of Nevis island, where five parishes of of St. Kitts and Nevis meet up in the middle of the island (the parishes are (1) Saint George Gingerland, (2) Saint James Windward, (3) Saint John Figtree, (4) Saint Paul Charlestown, and (5) Saint Thomas Lowland.)

@@Jochen-iq8vx he's speaking mathematically, a point only has one dimension and can't touch more than one thing at once, as it will be inside anything it touches. And if you want to be really technical using physics, no two objects ever touch each other anyway, just magnetic fields.

What's so special about that one? You could make dozens of tripoints with any combination of 3 states that border each other-CA, OR, NV and CA, AR, NV to name just 2 examples. Just pick any 3 states that happen to be next to each other.
Not.
I'm disappointed....it's not a quadripoint. I knew about the spot and thought it actually was. Until i saw this video and saw the borders shown in the river. So to me quadripoints have declined from 1 to 0.
Am I the only one who thinks the way the river is shaped in the picture almost looks like a Minecraft chunk glitch?
Ughhhh... you really didn't need to give that many examples of tri-points. We're not 7 years old
