Inveravon Pictish Stones

Ойын-сауық

On todays wee trip I went to check out the Pictish symbol stones in the small church in Inveravon. On the way I stopped off to show you guys the should be world famous Suenos Stone, a local said it was pronounced sweeno so I'll go with that! I have plans to show Suenos stone in another future video so this is just a short intro.
The Inveravon Pictish stones are breathtaking to think that they were carved around the 6th century really does open your mind to how life was back then for our ancestors.
Cheers for watching and if your reading this then cheers for that inaww!

I will be traveling to Inverness in September and I’m most excited to be in the wilderness. I’m obsessed with the Picts and I will be in awe when I finally see the stones in person.

Hi Arran 👋 another interesting video . I thought the stones in the wee church were like storybooks , hot air balloon came into my mind as well ! I thought the bird looked a bit like a Peacock 🦚 but I think the beak is different. It's a Pict...urebook .....😆 . Good on you going about in that weather 🌧🌧.Take good care of yourself

It's sad the Picts are so ignored historically. Their beautifully carved stones live on to remind us of what's missing.

I thought one of the carvings in the church looked like a hot air balloon but couldn’t be😂 but the flower symbol is so beautiful in it along with bird. The one that had the crescent and the pic that looks like Saturn the small pic on the bottom left looked like a house to me. So interesting! I don’t know much about these people but I’m like you. I’d love to learn more. Thanks for the adventure!♥️

Love your videos. American here who has been researching ancient Scottish history and lore for many years. It's very frustrating that when speaking to Scots, so few seem to know - or even care - about the ancient history, archaeological treasures, and stories. Some, in fact, are downright hostile when I ask for more information as if its something they want to hide or avoid. There is nowhere in the world where such a richness of archaeology is so routinely dismissed as unimportant. Thank you for keeping the flame lit :-) (P.S., would love to see more on the Rhynie Man!)

Hey my brother, im so happy to hear your passion! Its heartbreaking how true your words are. We Scots turn everything into a joke unfoetunatly they turn our missing culture into a joke also. The passion is burning here ma man and will never stop! Alba Gu Brath 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Fascinating! Absolutely incredible that they were all carved by hand and the Picts still largely remain a mystery to us. And… 🙋🏻‍♀️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I’m Scottish and I do give a fuck about our history! It’s very sad that we were never taught that much about it in school, and that we have had to educate ourselves on it. As a nation, we should be proud of our rich history and continue to share it with and educate generations to come. Folk like you are invaluable. So, ‘Thank You’ once again for sharing… Sir Arran of Alba! 🙏… 💙🌻

Thoroughly enjoy your videos👍! You go to those places in the landscape I have always been attracted to and find full of mystery. Such places, stones, histories and legends fill me with wonder. It all seems rather sacred to me; and I suspect we may be kindred spirits in this regard. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your land with us💕! Best wishes from Vermont USA

Sueno's Phone Box you mean LOL We have visited the Inveravon Stones, interesting place. It is sad that this history has been suppressed and ignored. At least those that remain at Inveravon have been better looked after than the stone at Forres. The irony is they are in an old church entrance,

Interesting I thought kilts weren't a thing that long ago plaid they believe have been around forever but idk maybe it was like some sort of armor that looked like Kilts unless Picts we're them before anyone else but that would definitely contradict what we currently thought whome knows but love the artwork of a story horses could represent Them in battle or that of a horse Goddess like other celts across the globe worshipped. The Kilts man is what gets me I wonder man. And I'm a ghost the circle ones is like astrology in a way to me it looks like maybe two moons in the planet the first one and the last one looks like some type of alignment . Very cool and the creature's or animals carved. One is the sun going into a place or maybe a grave or a ancient sight

Hey mate, i love having your thoughts! I think the modern kilt was not a thing for them as we've been told. They say it was a plaid or the feileadh mhor/great kilt. The pictures do look very like a kilt but not a practical way to fight i like the armor idea! Im in the middle of researching Burghead, the viking battle and if it could connect with suenos. Cheers brother!

@@ArranOfAlba right maybe they we're like A Tweed and not plaid like how the pants might've been. Very unique indeed to see something similar to what looks like a kilt on a carving that's so old
