After digging further, I think, but not sure, that it's due to my not having an Autodesk certified graphics card.

Who uses Rendering in Inventor? It takes years to render a quality image and the result at the end is not really good.

Autocad inventor worst software ever. How about fixing the known issues instead of adding unnecessary new features that don't work properly. Also, Graphics are still Terribile.
