    Very very very very minor thing I've just noticed, but to add to the narrative around 8:38 when I'm talking about Rev Clouds and drawings, I didn't spot it during recording but the drawing that Adsk have displayed is technically inaccurate. Rev A would or should never have a change note in the table (Bracket Removed), typically Rev A would be "First Issue" and then Rev B would be "Bracket Removed". Just in case anyone is wondering...!

    I agree but it depends of your company's SOP. Example: Our company don't use rev - or blank or 0 and just go straight into rev A or 1 and we don't use rev blocks if initial release. It's just how this company does it. Also if you follow ASME or ANSI, you must use ADD: [insert content here], DEL: [insert content here], CHG: [qty etc here] and you never just say bracket, you use item numbers from parts list. If you have Vault setup correctly, that data is then sucked up into the ECO system in Vault automatically and those item numbers can relate to the item master BOMs too and the rev table comments are visible via properties of files in vault too. So it pays to follow a strict SOP in that scenario. (Now if only Autodesk could demonstrate that again and not bury/delete the video for it in leu of AU website archiving. It's so hard to re-integrate this into a different company when you don't know how to anymore.)

    I think it's always worth mentioning that Inventor and Autodesk products in general, no longer have big feature releases as a rule at this time of the year. They've moved to a continuous release cycle, and will now delay a larger project they have been working on, if it isn't ready to release. Choosing instead to release it via a point release. We've seen significant updates happen in the 202x.1 202x.2 releases in recent years.

    The most exciting thing about Inventor 2024 is that somehow the invention still exist, despite the declined shared usage... Otherwise, the Inventor Help forum is loaded with user's recommendation ideas for features and settings, if the Autodesk development team likes to work on/implement in 25 release (but yes, why burn through cash when the open code CAD products are so ahead of you). Cheers for the honest vlog mate!

    I'm already somehow used to something worthwhile in the inventory appearing for two years. For version 2024, the bottom has been hit! For the first time in 23 years of work in the inventory, I will not install a new version. It's nothing, it's a service pack and not a version. What are you guys smoking? Change the grass, it might help.

    Fusions format for top down modeling is making more and more sense to me. It would be great to have it integrated as an .ipt template inside Inventor.. especially for splitting up sheet metal into individual flat patterns?

    I remember back to when I would wait with real excitement for the new Inventor, even though you knew there would be hours reconfiguring stuff to get the good stuff from previous to work again. Now, because I have a licence in perpetuity, I miss all that (and the £1000÷ per year maintenance fee). This confirms I made the right choice :-)

One thing i come across fairly often is energy chains (i.e Igus chains) and something that dealt with that in a simple, straightforward and reliable way would have been nice as i have been asking for that for quite a while.

    It's time to introduce surfaces with G3. This will be a very cool update and further development in Inventor. Well, I would like to expand the possibilities of a 3d sketch (the ability to use it for extrusion, for example). Thanks Neil, looking forward to your videos as always!!! Don't leave Inventor and us!!!))) Good luck in everything!!!

    I am in east Durham and have also been using Inventor since 2004, my organisation has just upgraded to 2024 from 2019, why have they removed the home tab customisations. I had shortcuts for projects, templates as well as recent files. I will be forwarding on your post about projects to some of the people I work with in the hope they start to use them correctly.

    Hi. Thank you. Every time you put on a good show.😊. I just love your honest version of the Aoutodesk programmer output. I was wondering if you have ever tried to compare the inventor routing with the Sovelia Routing from Symetri. That could be exciting to see how that will work out for you. Since that there are no excitement in the 2024. Maybe this can make some new happiness 😊 I have not yet tried the version 2.0.2 in 2024. But in 2020 it’s exiting for the great majority of user that try it out. Regards Peter Valbjørn from siccadania in Denmark.

    Other than the new ability to create Finish processes, the overall range of "enhancments" for 2024 is a complete nothingburger. Was really hoping for some further enhancments and improvments to Model States, the only significant upgrade in the softawares capabilities in recent years that has the potential to dramaticlly improve workflow efficiency.

    The export the Fusion buttons being video worthy what's new features really rubs me the wrong way knowing how many Inventor users just can't touch Fusion for ITAR or other similar reasons. If you aren't going to add those features to Inventor fine, but saying oh we added that to Fusion knowing full well their customers bough Inventor over Fusion for a reason is just insulting.

  • @Neil3D

    @Neil3D

    Жыл бұрын

    Fair. To be clear though, the button isn't a new feature in Fusion, it's simply a button in Inventor that leads you through a tunnel into something in Fusion. So that feature was already in Fusion, the button just sends you there from Inventor.

    It still drives me crazy that they never finished implementing the "modern" UI across the entire software (see: extrude, hole, etc.) as well as dark theme. If Inventor is now "mature" and there's NOTHING else (sarcasm) that can be done to improve on it, why not at least a refreshed look to make it more modern and consistent? How much does this software cost again?

    Totally agree. To be honest, I'd really like 2025 to be a "polishing" release where the team just spend time fixing little niggles. There are so many weird pop ups in day to day use that feel really glaring, or boxes that can't scroll or just look crap (welds).

    Pipe break lines, lightning bolt break lines don't look great with cylindrical objects. Better functioning tables. Creating complex tables requires you to build them out of multiple tables because you can't merge information or center values on rows when info wraps to second line.
