Intuitive Watercolor and Mixed Media Painting | 2024 - 2

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Stillness is my word of the year for 2024. Not stillness in the sense of being completely still all the time, but stillness in a way that has me stopping to admire something beautiful in nature or taking a moment to watch my paint as it spreads on my wet watercolor paper. It can be so good for us to move more slowly, to stop and appreciate the simple moments in life that really make our lives rich. This week’s intuitive painting process is an ode to stillness and all the beauty it can create in a moment.

    Beautiful painting! I do appreciate yr comments regarding yr decision to only promote goods you use and enjoy. It could be a real temptation to justify getting items you don’t use after one try. It is so much better for our world and ourselves to be mindful in our purchases. Thanks, Gabrielle!❤

I like my hands in their natural state too and I know how blessed I am to have hands in the first place 🙏🏿✨💕

    Hello my friend, what a beautiful painting of your water lily and the pond! It was so relaxing to watch you create! If I had an unlimited supply of watercolor paper, I would make all kinds of salt abstracts, and I'd also lay down water, and drop in different paint colors all day long!! 😍 I know you would join me! ☺️ Is your paintbrush you used for the background as big as it looks?! 😲 It looks intimidating to me! I so admire the fact that you are here to share you're joy for creating with us, and not here to promote items! You should never have to apologize for that!! I'd rather see you playing with products you love not products you feel you have to! So thank you! ☺️ On that note, I gladly use your links, if there's something I want. I am so sorry to hear about all of the ailments/diagnoses you are experiencing. Having them all at the same time makes it even worse. 😢 It sounds like you are getting the care and advice you need, and you're doing everything you can on your end to manage your health. I pray that you are not in too much pain, I know how painful arthritis is just by itself. Keep being gentle with yourself. What's your snow situation there? Have you gotten a good amount, and is there more on the way? Well have a safe, warm and blessed week my friend, and know that I'm thinking about you! 🙏 💟🤗

  • @gabrielleannacormierart

    Hello again 💕🤗😁 Oh my goodness I so get what you are saying! I absolutely LOVE dropping salt in paint and dropping paint in water and just watching everything work its magic! Even when the drying process need to be a little longer, I never completely walk away because it's all just so beautiful to watch as it unfolds. I've actually thought about doing a timelapse of the process and it could be appropriately title "watching paint dry" 🤣 It might not get many views though 😂 But I might still just do it for myself 😁 My mop brush is pretty big indeed!! It's not great for dipping into paint pans because it usually spills into other colors, but I LOVE using it! Especially when I have a bigger surface to cover. I can get the job done much faster the paper doesn't dry before I have time to add my salt. I'm glad I haven't offended anyone yet (or at least I think I haven't offended anyone 🤞) about my preference not to be promoting products all the time. I've been struggling with this for a while because I'm sure it would be easier in some ways for me to make more money, but at the end of the day, it wouldn't sit well with my values and my integrity matters more to me than money (of course if I didn't have a roof over my head and food on my table, my values would certainly shift so I could continue living. I am thankful for what I have and know it is a blessing, not guaranteed to everyone. 🙏🏿✨). Anyway, it feels like a weight has been lifted in a way so I'll just keep doing me. ☺️ The arthritis won't go away but I think I can manage it with diet and gentle exercise so I'm just going to keep going with the flow and not worry about it as much as possible. The other ailments seem to be responding relatively well to physio therapy and my exercises so I'm feeling very optimistic. Life has been asking me to slow down and in doing so, I'm starting to connect more and more with what my physical body needs and doing my best to offer it exactly that. It is daily work that is paying off because I have less pain even if it is not completely gone. So, I'll keep chugging along. When I know better, I can do better so it's all good. ☺️ I really appreciate all the love, friendship, kindness and support you offer me ❤️🤗 Thank you so much for being here with me! Lots of love heading your way xoxo💕

  • @gabrielleannacormierart

    @gabrielleannacormierart

    5 ай бұрын

    First of all, thank you so much for your kindness 💕 I wonder about a few things with respect to not having any results with the salt... Is the salt you are using like a powder? Some viewers have mentioned to me that in certain parts of the world, their salt is very finely ground and this seems to affect how it reacts on the paper. Mine is a little bit less coarse than sand, but I can definitely feel that it is gritty rather than powdery. The other thing I wonder about is the type of paper you are using. I tend to get my best results with salt using higher quality paper - if you have different qualities of paper at home I would suggest experimenting with little swatches of the different paper to see if your salt will work differently on the various swatches. Finally, the amount of water on your paper will make a difference as well. If the paper is too wet, a finer grain of salt will melt into the water and paint and have less of an effect. If the paper is more damp and close to dry, nothing will happen either. Again, it's good to experiment with varying the wetness of your paper to see how the salt reacts at different points of the drying process. I hope this helps!! ☺️ Happy creating 🎨

    I am new to this, just trying watercolors for the first time. I love the effect you get from adding the salt, but I’m having a hard time removing it once it’s dry. Do you have any tips to share?

  • @gabrielleannacormierart

    @gabrielleannacormierart

    5 ай бұрын

    Hi Kathy ☺️ I think you may be having this issue with the salt because of the amount of water you have on your paper before you add the salt. I generally use more water in my paint when I'm using coarse grain salt and if I'm using a finer grain of salt, I try to apply it when the paper is more damp then wet. Sometimes I get a bit carried away and apply my fine grain salt when the paper is more wet and the same thing happens for me. I use an old plastic card to scrape the salt off and it generally works very well, especially with the coarse grain salt. Using the card for salt removal also work well with the fine grain salt, as long as the paper wasn't too wet before I sprinkled the salt. I recommend experimenting with this - the more you experiment and change your variables, the more you'll learn what works best for you. I hope this helps!
