Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
This video lecture gives a basic introduction to CFD. Here the concept of Navier Stokes equations and Direct numerical solution (DNS) are explained in a logical way.

Cool video but why is Microsoft Sam narrating it
Wow! To the point, no bla bla! Thank you for sharing such laconic information, rare to find those days !
the best 3 min introduction on cfd i've had so far ; )
that was short, straightforward, sharp and awesome. thank you so much.
Excelent intro to fluids in my life!
Awesome video! Thank you!
The video makes a serious mistake on direct numerical simulation (DNS) and its relation to the numerical solution to Navier-Stokes equations. DNS is to directly resolve turbulent flows both spatially and temporally without having to supply some ad hoc turbulence models. Most flows we encounter are turbulent, but there are important flows in the laminar regime for sure. If flows are laminar, then numerical solutions are DNS, which cost very little to obtain, due to the fact that the scale to be resolved is about the same as the fine features of the domain. What I point out here is not nitpicking. It is a serious oversight or potentially a misunderstanding regarding what DNS is and is not.
非常感谢!Thank you very much!

What about a quantum computer running various algorithms
Good Video.... But, what about the Conservation of Energy equation? Can't we use it apart from Mass & Momentum equations?

We can use and it is used in specific applications where energy transfer is important. An example is combustion.
What is the minimum requirement for understanding CFD course? I have beginner level knowledge in calculus I & II, AP physics mechanics (covering fluid mechanics). Will that be enough or do I need to brush up on more courses before taking CFD topic? Please help, I am very interested in CFD!

It is awesome that you are interested in CFD analysis. In my opinion and experience, I believe one should have the knowledge of Partial Differential Equations, Computational Numerical Methods, and Fluid Dynamics. At minimum, fluid dynamics is good enough.
Hi, I'm working on a science project right now and i'd have your opinion about a fluid mechanics issue of mine. I'd like to evaluate the upward thrust force induces by a wave (sea swell) upon a flat floating object of negligible thickness. Would it be consistent to assume that wave's upward thrust is equal to the object surface area times wave's height times waters density? Since the object's area times wave's height represent the displaced volume of water pressuring the object from beneath. Then this volume times water's density represents the mass of water implied in the energy transmission between the wave and the floating object (which also gains potential energy proportional to the wave's height). Thanks for your job as a teacher and youtuber. Your lectures are very interesting and educating so keep going on please !

Just curious, what did you end up doing?
I need to do an aerodynamic study on a 3d simulating turbine in order to study its wake and vortices. Which software is better in terms of accuracy and ease of GUI. Please revert at the earliest

How is SpaceX manipulating such large CFD datasets?
nice
2:13 Its more compact if you wrote it with del operator.
Danke !

*Does Ryzen CPU and nividia GPU driver have issue ? I have heard from Tom Hardware website..... Can I run mechanical software like Openfoam, Hypermesh, Ansys(Simulation), Converge CFD, Ansa in ryzen smoothly and what about linux*
But where is the energy equation?
Whats U and W ?

***** It's Clay Mathematical Institute, which will award anyone with1 mln dollars if he/she proves existence and smoothness of the Navier-Stokes solution.

🤔
analytical solutions do not exist? prove it for smooth solutions and I'll give you a million dollars.
