it will soon BTC to ZEROOOOOO the math simply doesn't add up bud. I love DLT and crypto btw. I just can see through the veil of BTC BULLLSHIT. 6 people own 90% of ALL BTC. You think they aren't fully controlling the market? You are a peasant if you own BTC. There are far superior digital assets. You know ones that actually DO THINGS.

It is already 2023, yet people are still strugling to understand this powerful technology for a better future for all of humanity. I am still learning new things about bitcoin even if it was first introduced to me in 2015, only to understand it better in 2019. I missed out for 4 yrs but I am grateful Im in Bitcoin now for 4 years already. Thank you Andreas. 💙♥️

December 2017, I was sleepless for days because I had my mind blown with machine learning, that lead me into cryptos and my mind was blown a second time just in a few days. First programming language, first computer , first time on the internet , computer science education and now this. I had tears in my eyes from the 3rd minute, I paused and reflected on my life, on my duty, our duty as people who can speak code. I just knew I was on the right path. Words are not enough, keep it real Andreas!

Over years, from time to time, I come back to this video to get back to basics. This video needs to have AT LEAST 100 million views.

Coming back to this video in March 2024. We've just hit the previous USD all-time-high *before* the halving, which has never happened before. The price is around US$0.07M.

One of my absolute favorite Bitcoin videos. My first Andreas Antonopoulos video and first 100% Bitcoin video seconds after I heard Bitcoin mentioned in another video, where I after 10 seconds dropped my jaw and realized the potential :-) THANK YOU Andreas!

Great Video! Forgive me for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you thought about - Zanackson Pocket Buster (do a google search)? It is a great one of a kind guide for learning how to make an extra income online minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my work colleague after many years got great results with it.

Yesterday a young man planning a massacre at Federation Square in Melbourne during New Years eve was apprehended on the basis of financial monitoring data shared between a bank, AUSTRAC and law enforcement. Complex monitoring algorythms coupled with KYC protocols means that even when cash is used a trail is often still left. We can all sing the benefits of decentralised anonymous peer to peer transactions but sometimes privacy must be sacrificed for security. I live in Melbourne and may have attended that event so before you quote Lincoln just think about this for a minute.

All bitcoin transactions are publicly visible to anyone. They leave a trail which you can follow. Google "Sheep Market Scam" and the related account 1CbR8da9YPZqXJJKm9ze1GYf67eKAUfXwP. It was used to launder 96,000 stolen BTC by a fraudster. Trail is still there as intact and ready for forensic analysis as it was in 2012. Plus, just today UK Treasury announced their plans to require a disclosure of identity of bitcoin traders. Other countries will do the same. Eventually, the system is going to be an improvement on our current banking system but not as anonymous as feared / hoped (depending on your political views :)

I’d only heard the term bitcoin used when the person I was talking to was bragging about buying and selling illegal things on the dark web. Thanks to you, I’m now a proud crypto nerd 🤓

Nobody tells it like Andreas does. he is the voice of enlightenment and understanding for bitcoin. It's not about money. But money is a part of it. It's about freedom, taking back power from those few who abuse it for their own benefit at the expense of the masses.

I especially like that quote you said that, "Bitcoin isn't money. The blockchain isn't a system of currency, it is a platform of trust. It's not a company, it's not a product, it's not a service you sign up for. It's not a currency - currency is just the first application. Abdullah Alruwaili he calls it money maybe because it's easier for the new audience to understand and he called it a system of trust because it's not conventional system of physical money, you just trust that what you are getting (bitcoin) has value and it equals the value of your work/product.

'decentralized money' as opposed to a 'centralized' government issued currency. Also known as fiat currency when the government deliberately debases it's own currency through the power of the printing press which literally all and I do mean all sovereign nations continue to do. Now Bitcoin is a blockchain-based currency with built in algorithmic 'decentralized' safeguards that prevent this type of currency abuse.

Nah we're not early anymore. Early was 5-6 years ago sure.. BTC wont magically do another insane 500,000% or so like on the past. Maaaybe another 10x in the distant future

OMG. Old guy (retired engineer) talking here: I am blown away by this presentation. I’ve listened to Booth, Saylor, Saifedean, Breedlove, Adam Back and many others. These folks are great - they fed me BTC milk. But Antonopoulos is the purest signal among the noise that dominates the digital currency environment. SNR >= infinity!!

Amazing!! You were so spot on in 2016 and here we are today - country(s) implementing BTC as legal tender, BTC ATMS/Kiosk popping up in local gas stations/grocery stores, Twitter BTC lightning network, etc. Despite all the FUD. Highly appreciate your conviction and educating the masses about BTC.

Listening to Andreas answer questions makes me realize that he preaches college level academic observation to a general assembly, then records it, then posts it online. It will still "die" over and over again. People that stayed on the sidelines will ALWAYS get to say I told you so and people will ALWAYS buy the peak and sell the valley, forever cursing the "rat poison squared" known as bitcoin. Bottom line; all those millions of under and UN banked that will soon have internet beamed down to them from Musk's satellites.

Excellent video on the bitcoin concept. A dynamic, articulate and forceful presentation of its underlying theory and revolutionary implications for society and the world. That said, the “flip-side” question of all this remains unsaid and perhaps not fully pondered - what are the negative consequences and fallout of total “decentralization” of value, communication and protocol? Ultimate chaos, confusion and anarchy? Breakdown of control, organization and progress? Bitcoin itself is now splintering and fracturing - bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold and forks and segits and numerous copy-cat and cousin cryptos and more ICOs on the way. If it happens with crypto, it will likely happen with any other technology based on open-source blockchain. Big Brother in reverse - everyone becomes a Little Brother and little progress gets done? Just asking questions, amigos; just questions.

@Gary - this is a very valid point, and something i have been pondering myself. As much as we like to villainize government control of currency, there are real benefits to our current system of money in the forms of 'protections'. ( this can of course be debated). I speculate that in the future, governments will issue their own cryptocurrencies (doubt they will be finite in qty). At that point, the IRS job becomes very easy. Kind of scary that crypto aligns with some biblical prophesies. I will leave it at that.

Great talk Sir! 28:37 through 31:45 , should make a short of this, I think it would get 10x as many views (attention span of internet and all).

A bit late but here I am. Amazing content man. I just want to clarify that money isn't the most ancient technology we came up with, weapons is. In fact there's a big gap between those two inventions in which many technologies evolved. Looking forward to watch all your videos.
