Hi, Lesley, I'm Leslie! Did you know that you way of spelling our name is the British woman's spelling? And my way of spelling is the man's way of spelling! Thanks, Mom! I have two kids - a beautiful woman and a handsome son - 10 grandchildren ( not bad for only 2 kids!), and 2 beautiful great granddaughters! I am very blessed. I have been sewing since I was around 9 or 10. My mom grew up in an orphanage and figured every girl should learn to sew. That machine was a black White machine - no zigzag there - and I was so BRAVE! I'd try anything I hope to get back there total bravery! Welcome!

HELLO LESLIE!! I smiled so big reading your name comments! Guess what. I was named after my Grandfather and Father. They were expecting a boy 😂. From here in the US my spelling is considered the boys way. It used to bother me, but now I embrace my uniqueness and love my name. Last year I did a deep dive into the meaning...Dark grey fortress. We are a mighty, strong fortress guarding throughout the night. We are able to shelter others in our shadow and reflect light off our large stone walls. 😊 If you look up Leslie in the urban dictionary...it says she is stunning and a woman others want to be like. That is a high calling for sure 😂, but also delightful to imagine! It is nice to meet you my name sister! I feel like I already know you! ❤

You have a sewing trailer???? Uh-maz-ing!! Our third, and smallest, bedroom is converted to a sewing room, and sometimes I feel the squeeze LOL. I'm glad KZread suggested this video this morning; looking forward to your projects. OH...and about those seam rippers...I've been the cause of MANY a seam ripper's early demise from overwork. My friend said I must love the projects I do, because I will tear out a seam and redo it at LEAST once per item, just to prolong the joy of making it LOL. If she has something go wrong, she tosses it and starts over with a new project. I just can't do that.

Hi Lesley! My name is Sondra and I live in Southwest Missouri. I'm 54 and have one married son and no grandchildren yet. I have a basic knowledge of sewing what I learned years ago in Home Ec and haven't sewn in years. I crochet now a days. I've recently been thinking about taking up sewing again. As a way to save money by mending/making my own clothing and living more sustainably. The idea of a sewing circle sounds absolutely wonderful to me. 😊

I love your content...I am thrilled that I found you. I am 68 years and I live in Georgia...in a small town that has doubled in population in the last 20 years. I do alterations and make memory quilts. bears, pillows and more from loved ones clothing for extra money. I used to make everything my daughter and I wore but I don't enjoy making my clothes now. I also make quilts to donate and give as gifts. I have made too many quilts to count but I don't have one that I have made. Many blessings

A girls vest with a silky lining for the pink fur. My Bernina 180 and 830's both have stitch counters to record "mileage".For the quilt back use a busy print so the quilting hides in the print. For kids you can use adult thrift clothing for "fabric".

Hi! This is so exciting! I love finding KZread videos like this. I'm Lori from Murphysboro, Illinois. (Southern Illinois) I am a wife, mom of 2 grown boys, Noni (grandma) to 2 sweet baby boys. I teach Family Consumer Science (aka home ec) at my local high school. I've been sewing since the 7th grade. SEWING is my life outside of teaching. I do lots of alterations, machine embroidery, costumes for our musicals and plays. I love making new things. Love vintage fabric. I don't have a local resale shop that focuses on the creative things. But we do have a thrift store that carries fabrics and notions sometimes. Can't wait for more videos!!!

Hi Lesley, I am Janneke. I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. I am 72 and I have been sewing since I was 8. I would frustrate my Home Economics teacher, because I would be sewing way ahead of all the other students. I made all my own clothes in highschool, grad dress, wedding dress and my husband's suit for going away outfit. My Mom was a plus size woman, and at the age of 16 I custom made clothes to fit her and in very bright colours. I buy my fabrics from the thrift store or on sale at a Fabricland store (canadian equivalent to Joanns).

So I only took home Economics in my 6th grade year (I was 11 years old, and I had not sewn again until 40 years later. Which was 2 years ago. I began quilting. I still feel new to quilting, because I am still learning this craft. I absolutely love quilting! I am a full time nurse tele-working case manager. I'm in awe that you look so young to have such a nice family. I love the idea of a special place to go to to sew. I have a workroom in our basement and even sneak down at night (menopausal insomnia) and sew , reorganize, or just finger my fabric collection. I'm 76 almost 77 and have sewn for more than 50 years. I sew mostly for my daughter (teacher at a college) and her 2 beautiful daughters, some for my grandson, son-in-law and my husband of course. Once in a while for myself since I don't need many clothes anymore. I am presently making a king quilt for my niece. My sister recently passed away and she had planned to make her daughter the quilt so I brought it home and am happy to make it for her. I would make a robe with the white and shawl of the pink fluff. Line the patchwork with the dark of the check. Can I give you a tip? Hold the fabric, pattern, etc. you are showing us higher and longer. Where do you live and besides the destash store in Ca. what is your favorite? I love to shop at thrift stores for fabric, sheets, and larger clothes I can use to make 'new' items. I live in northern Minnesota and married and loving my life, family and a myriad of hobbies. Thanks Lesley for your site.

It is nice to meet you. I am from the Chicago area. The pink fur would make pretty hand muffs. The fur at JoAnns has a dry clean only tag. But if a bargain maybe you could hand wash quickly, shake, and hang to dry. I haven't used it before so don't know how it would work. Could change the fluffiness..

Hello. I’m Candice, I live in Peachtree City, Georgia about 30 minutes south of Atlanta. I recently took up quilting, so no clothes making yet. I have two children, daughter 19 away at college and a son 12. My mom made clothes for my older sisters when she was a stay at home mom, unfortunately by the time I came along she no longer sewed but did take it back up when my daughter was a toddler. I saved some of those cute rompers for any future granddaughters that I may have. I lived outside of Lancaster PA for years and really enjoyed the Amish and Mennonite crafts and food when I visited. I look forward to following your channel and learning more about sewing. Have a nice day.

Hi, I’m Erin from Long Beach in Southern California. It’s great to see an experienced sewer like you. So many only share beginner items from woven cotton. I love to sew with knits like you. I have 1 adult daughter and no grandkids yet. My fabric stash is embarrassingly huge! I have collected fabric since I was in my 20’s and I’m now in my 60’s. I live 2 minutes away from Joann’s, and used to shop every Friday on my way home from work. I sew daily and it’s my happy time. Looking forward to seeing you and what you have to share!

Hi Lesley, I am Michelle and I am so glad KZread recommended your video to me today. I am an Aussie, married to a farmer and living about 20mins from the nearest town. I was only blessed with one child and she is my pride and joy, but no grandkids yet. I do hope to have grandkids one day but understand my daughter will do what is right for her when it comes to choices about starting a family. I am in awe at your big family! How lovely. Some of what you were showing us was off screen which was a little disappointing. Your sewing caravan (trailer) sounds like a dream space for many. I have a sewing studio in a small building in our yard. I don't make youtube videos but I do have an Instagram account where I like to connect with other creatives. Do you have a social media where we can connect with you? Oh.. and I mostly sew for little people. That's my happiness. I have quite a few nieces and nephews (some of them nieces and nephews of the heart) I sew for, but I also have a large collection of finished items languishing in my house. I look forward to seeing more from you in the coming weeks. Thank you for sharing with us.

love your idea of a sewing circle. I'm from Iowa currently living in Indiana. I started hand sewing very young, sewing buttons on scrap fabric while sitting at my Mom/s feet. Learned garment sewing at age 12 and finally got into quilting during the pandemic. I have lots of projects in the works, mostly for Christmas. One of my favorites is a double handed pot holder.

Hello from Michigan - I'm delighted to discover your channel! I used to do a lot of garment sewing, but now (except for mending), I focus on quilts, which I've been making for more than 30 years. I piece and quilt them on my very basic Singer and Pfaff machines. Many quilts go to family and friends, others to charities supported by the small quilt group I belong to. I love making things that are both beautiful and useful, and I especially love scrap quilts. I'm looking forward to more videos from you in the future!

@@TheSewingCircle-LesleyRosas I machine quilt the quilts I make, using a walking foot to do straight-line quilting. I haven't yet tried free-motion quilting. Most of the quilts I make are twin- or double-bed size. I seem to be in a minority of quilters in that I really like straight-line quilting; the trend now seems to be much more complex, swirly designs. I keep telling myself I'll figure out the free-motion stuff someday :)

Pick your pattern, find your size on the back and make sure you purchase the correct amount of fabric. Always pre-wash your fabric before cutting so your item does not shrink after all of your hard work! Good luck!! ❤️ Happy Sewing!!

My g'daughter (7YRS) loves the circle skirt. It's very very spinny and requires very little fabric when double folded. I've made 3 so far. Used a yoga style waistband. The last one I made used wierd sparkley tuil (spelling?) Fabric in three different skirt lengths that ended just above the knee with bike shorts underneath. It was a crazy make that turned out great. It even survived all summer spinning around. I made the dress pattern in the collection into a nightgown just added 3" frill on the bottom. It's a great fun pattern Hope to see more videos😁

The quilt is adorable. I'd back with the blue and use it for the binding too. I say this because you state your daughter is a minimalist.

Hi hello Lesley. I would love to hear and see more about your sewing space. I’m Diane from southeast Texas and Los Angeles, CA. I’m 72 and have been sewing since age 5., garments, home decor and quilts. I do miss various sewing groups I’ve belonged to in the past, so I’m so glad to see your circle here.

Hi from Oklahoma! Glad to find your beginning channel! I’m retired and have been sewing for 50 plus years. I mostly sew garments for myself and kids clothes. Last year I sewed 50 dresses for Dress a Girl Around the World, trying to use up quilting fabrics. Making more this year. I’m not much into quilts anymore after sewing hundreds of them over the years. Most went to kids and grands and charity. I look forward to your videos!

Hi Lesley, Carol from southern Indiana. I am so glad to meet you. What an interesting background! When I was a senior in high school, I wanted 12 children, all boys. After my second one, I quit (he was a stinker 😂).Love my two boys with my whole heart. I also have two step-children, a girl and a boy. Have four grandsons, but I only sew for one. I have sewn off and on for many years, mostly teaching myself. I also taught myself to knit, and knit mostly shawls which I give away; but, I like to knit socks too. I have tried my hand at sewing slacks, am having trouble getting the crotch area correct. Have been making adjustments and will persevere. I look forward to watching more of your channel. Happy sewing!

Hi Lesley; I'm Deb! So nice to connect with you!! I have a channel as well called Deb's Way and I hope you'll visit me. My channel is basically about my life in retirement and sewing has become a big part of life lately. I made clothing when I was in college many years ago; didn't sew for many years after that. When I was in my 40's, I took up quilting and enjoyed that hobby for over 25 years until I decided to try my hand at clothes-sewing again. Let me tell you, making clothing has been challenging but rewarding in many ways and I'm still at it even though I've kind of taken the summer off for several reasons. I've got projects lining up and I'm itching to get back in my sewing nook and get at it! You found some beautiful fabrics on De-Stash. Beautiful fabrics! With the pink, hairy fabric you could make a child's jacket or vest. That would be cute. I will have to check that De-Stash out. Happy Sewing!

Hello! I love this idea. My daughters and I share a home and that means I get to have plenty of time with them and my granddaughter. We all sew and create in a variety of ways. I am currently looking for fabric that looks more professional than stretch denim but has the same weight and stretch. Middle is on the autism spectrum and needs the sensory input but also needs more professional attire. I have a couple of options now, but am definitely still looking.

Hello, how lovely you can sew with your daughters! I taught mine to sew and loved when they were still home to sew with me! I am curious where you found your denim. A high-quality denim is something I used to order when I made all of my boys their jeans. I used to get mine from Mennonite stores. I am uncertain where you could order it today. I admire your dedication to your kids and teaching! ❤

Check out the style arc montana (ignore instructions, go with what's on the pattern itself), it is a pull on woven dress but fitted and smart enough to look professional especially in a navy blue. To replace the denim modern scuba is a great one, super soft on the back with a lot of stretch and it now comes in anything from light and drapy to more structured. :)
