Introducing the Bambu Lab A1 Mini + AMS Lite

Ғылым және технология

In this video, we meet the all new Bambu Lab A1 Mini... a fast, multicolor 3D Printer for just $459. Brought to you by Sunlu, and their new S4 Filament Dryer. Check it out at jle.vi/sunlu-s4 and be one of the first 300 people to order for just $79!
Yes, this video was leaked. Yes, I have apologized for the poor judgement that lead up to that leak. In case you're curious: / 1704394523365740618
So... I LITERALLY can't believe I'm saying this for the SECOND time in less than 3 months, but... ladies and gentlemen... meet the latest 3D printer from Bambu Lab. The Bambu Lab A1 Mini.
I know.
But unlike when I had the privilege of introducing the world to the Bambu Lab P1S just 9 weeks ago, this time, as you can see, (and as you can NOT hear), there are some REAL surprises - and some head scratchers with the Bambu Lab A1 Mini. But stick around, because I've not only had the chance to play around with this printer, but also to pick the brains of the very people who developed and manufactured it, in person, at their headquarters in Shenzhen... and in this video, I'm going to explain why this little printer is about to disrupt the entire 3D printing market, once again, just like the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon did a year or so ago.
And while this may not be a full Bambu Lab A1 Mini Review, it does reflect most of my unbiased impressions and thoughts on the printer, including what I like, and what I don't.

  • @conorstewart2214

    @conorstewart2214

    8 ай бұрын

    Most fast printers, especially the Bambu ones can do that too, just adjust the speeds and make it print slower. However the default speeds on the X1C are quite a bit slower than their fastest speeds but are high quality and reliable too. I have never had a print failure on my X1C. In other words what you are looking for already exists, you just aren’t seeing it. FDM will always be limited by nozzle size and flow rate, so there is a limit to how much quality you can get and it has been long reached, hence companies are keeping that same quality but also going for speed. If you need even higher quality then you should probably go for resin printing.

  • @JiiruKoga

    @JiiruKoga

    8 ай бұрын

    @@conorstewart2214 I own the X1C too and have had failures (maybe mostly because of my own faults), and don't like going over the 100% speed mode as I feel like the quality starts to dip at the higher speeds. I notice little imperfections at 150% speed. I'm using Sunlu basic filament. I bought high speed filament but just find it not cost effective. I'd rather buy another X1C than pushing the speed if I'm in some manufacturing crunch.

  • @conorstewart2214

    @conorstewart2214

    8 ай бұрын

    @@JiiruKoga that is what I said, that their default speeds are high quality and reliable, going faster depends on the model and filament. There isn't much point to high speed filament, at least with a bambu printer. I think the Bambu basic PLA is already optimized for higher speeds. If you look at the volumetric flow rate settings in bambu studio it is higher for bambu filament than generic PLA but that could just be for marketing or to make their filament look better but I have had good results using cheap PLA with the bambu PLA settings. The default speeds are already much faster than an ender 3 or MK3, if you need it for manufacturing quickly then you are better with a P1P or P1S than either an ender 3 or MK3 and they are more cost effective than an X1C. Now with the A1 mini it is an even cheaper option for only a slight decrease in speed. If you don't need an enclosure, are fine with the print volume and just need printing speed then the A1 mini is probably the best option now.

    I wouldn’t have thought so, it seems to rely on the four input extruder of the A1 mini. They could release a way to use it with the AMS hub that lets you use 4 AMS units at once but you lose a lot of the benefits of the AMS lite and A1 then, since you would need to retract back past the AMS hub. It seems this will just be for the A1 unless they allow you to use an A1 hotend and extruder assembly on the P or X series.

    Would be nice to get the swatches for free with the original AMS. The hotend swap is also something that needs to come to the P1/X1 series. An existing nozzle swap is annoying at best, and even changing the entire hotend assembly on the X1/P1 requires screws and fiddling with wiring connectors. Nice that this one is so simple.

    Now we need the AMS LITE to fit as extra AMS to the X1C, and a kit to upgrade the AMC to work like the LITE one without the need to fully extract the filaments all the way back it looks like the MAS lite improves of the AMS of the X1C or P1S

  • @conorstewart2214

    @conorstewart2214

    8 ай бұрын

    The AMS lite in most ways does not improve on the regular AMS. To use it with an X1 or P1 then it would need to use the AMS hub which limits the usefulness of it not having to retract the filament all the way, and that is if bambu even allows that. Also if possible then like the A1 mini you would only be able to use 1 AMS with a printer compared to the 4 that you can with the original AMS. Then you have the dry box capability of the original AMS. The only advantages of the AMS lite is that it supports more types of spool and it doesnt retract all the way, but all it would take to make a multiple original AMS setup not have to retract all the way is a firmware upgrade and then you have eliminated one of the main advantages of the AMS lite. The not retracting all the way thing would never work properly with one of their other printers due to the hotend differences, the other printers only have a single tube to the hotend so even if it was possible then it would still have to retract as far back as the AMS hub.
