’Pamela’s PRO Workout’ is a compact programmable clocked modulation source providing 8 highly editable outputs that can produce everything from simple clocked triggers and complex rhythmic wave forms to quantised melodic patterns, random chaos and more, all correlated and synced to a BPM based master clock.
Building on the original ’Pamela’s Workout’ & ’Pamela’s NEW Workout’ the evolved ’PRO’ Pam maintains the precursors' form factor and intuitive workflow but improves and adds many new features with upgraded hardware, more CV inputs, a new full colour hi res display and rewritten software adding many new enhancements like micro grid timings and cross output modulations.

Nice! The one thing I never liked about Pam's was the somewhat fiddly screen that made using some of the more advanced features feel like a bit of "work". Ordered!

The clearest explanation of Pamela's WorkOut to date . + I Almost wrote this module off. I could not wrap my head around why this module is so popular and now I am a believer. I'm building a noise/glitch modular and see that the Squid Sample makes a great companion. Too bad, as of this posting, it is not available in VCV rack.

This will be my 4th as well. Pamela is one of those essential modules that has a place in every rig. But yeah, at this point I may try to find an aftermarket black panel for one of my PNW's, if they even exist

I *JUST* got Pam's New Workout recently and boy do I feel silly now. These improvements would have really been nice, incl. the screen depictions. I wish a module fairy would come replace it for me during the night. Looks great though.

@@pedrogomis - In many cases, including with PNW, by the time a module has been through a few updates, the code space is full. The new display is integral to the way the new features work, anyway, so it would have been very difficult to find a representation that would have fit the old screen.

The screen is so much easier to read! no more leaning and squinting!
Nexst module shoiuld be called "Pamella Sitting In The Sauna After Here New Workout", and it should be an LFO based synth that you can take sounds from other sources and make them into synths and you can then individually tweak each LFO for each sample you used to make the synth. You can use multiple samples in one synth, and each sample you use will generate a different sounding synth.

Will there be the possibility of a baked in feature to chain multiple of these together via rear expanders or MIDI so that one can recall parameter banks in sync? Ideally also MIDI in to allow clocking / mutes / MIDI program changes to load banks up for live performances. This would really shoot the features to another level for mixed live rig performances.

Hi ALM! Nice upgrades :) If I remember correctly the previous version had some aliasing limiting the use of the envelope and lfo modes in some cases. Is the «resolution» or sample rate on this new version better as well, so we get smoother results?

12-bit DACs on PPW vs 10-bit DACs on PNW. Significantly better resolution.

How does this respond to a wonky external clock source? I like to feed my clock divider with an off grid clock which I generate with the Make Noise 0-ctrl.

Hard to believe you can make pam's any nicer but there you go.
I hope this is available with the PEXP-1, If its not that will be fucked up. Maybe an update for "old" palms would make us feel not left out.

How much does it cost? Schneidersladen doesn’t list it yet

Sure it would be, but... There are things that the new chip can do that the old chip can't. Firmware updates won't make the old hardware more capable. They offered as many updates as they could until the old hardware reached its limits. Now they use new hardware, and will offer more updates for as long as the new hardware handles them. That's technology. You may as well ask Microsoft to figure out how to run windows 10 on a machine built in 1994, or Apple to run Ventura on a G3. It just won't work. PNWO still works great, but if you want the new spangles, then pony up. I have PNWO + PEXP-1, but I'll soon be adding (not replacing) with a PPWO and Axon 2. Totally worth supporting.
My Pam workout original is stuck in some odd mode and I don't know how to get it back to normal. Says ch something I think

What are you using to play the bass line notes around 6:45? Is that from a MIDI signal to another synth/module not in the video?

Pam outputs 5 & 6 produce the rhythm & CV Notes for the bass line. See the start around 2:27
In the video you decide what scale the bassline and the chords are playing but can you also set the key?

The Key is set via whatever root note you tune you oscillator(s) too.

will it suport the pexp-1 expander? if not, is there any reason/issue with keeping my pams new workout with pexp-1 expander and just sending a clock out of pams new workout into Pams pro workout so everything syncs when i hit start on pams new workout? either way i see no reason to ditch the pams new workout just because i add a pams pro lol

I just realized that the PEXP-1 expander cable is different and doesn't fit. While linking two Pam's may work, I don't have 6HP free to spoil myself with dual Pam's.

From the manual. Only a single connected PPEX1 or PPEXP2 is supported. The PEXP1 & PEXP2 expanders for ’Pamela’s NEW Workout’ are not currently supported. We expect the new expanders to be available Dec/Jan. So you also need to buy a new expander in a month or two.

I love your modules, however, if there is anyway in the future to do this, can you please offer a non red screen and just have a white text on black screen? Id love to use more of your modules but if they have that red filter or screen, I cannot use them. Thanks

I really wish there is a midi expender that I can send this to my drum machine, like C2 D2 E2 etc for a fix note. So i can use this with my drum machine for some techno/house live situation

We-e-ell… there’s some nice display enhancements, but no radical improvements over my good ol’ PNW. Don’t know if it was just my impression, but did the menu-diving get another layer (opt)? Pass- for now…
