I remember watching this lesson when I started fingerstyle and it seemed soooo hard. Now the video seems much easier since I've practiced. I've learned sooo much from Justin.

Please everyone, support Justin and his lessons so he can afford a new couch.
I'm now mid way thru the Folk lessons. Thanks Justin S. Your doing well as a human rights activist. Everyone should have the chance to play, not bound by economic privilege. The lessons go far in everyone's life and will for sometime to come. Justin will be known in History.
I always love Justin's lessons! He really understands that guitar is such a personal instrument. Everyone plays just a little different. Very good intro to fingerpicking!
I really like your method of teaching. Starting with what people should already know really helps viewers know if they're watching the right video for them. Thanks!
I've just spent the last couple of months really honing in on building up my technique and finger dexterity, solely for the purpose of learning that little fingerstlye melody Justin played in the first 25 seconds!
My name is justin too! and you're the only guitar guy on youtube that makes sense to me!
Woke up at 2 am,had an urge to practice your Folk Fingerstyle patterns 1, Browse your videos and now I will listen to your inspirations on practicing guitars... Your way of teaching Guitar are great and easy to understand... Thank you very much..
I WAITED SO LONG FOR THE FIRST STYLE MODULE TO COME OUT! Thanks a whole lot Justin! You rock!

Everyone who reads this, please visit Justin's website and buy the DVD or donate if you can. The DVD even has three extra lessons about 28 minutes each!

Finally! some folk techniques!! Thank you so much justin!
You sure know how to share your talent Justin!
These videos are genius Justin. Keep up the good work.
I didn't really know what fingerstyle was and I now I realize one my song intros is fingerstyle. Now I'm just struggling to relearn it by playing the high E string with my ring finger instead of my middle finger, I'm not used to that technique. I can't wait to learn more techniques, thanks for this video!
Justin showing the M finger - now I've seen it all 😂
seriously the man justin!!
Man i've been waiting for this module since i found your website thanks
Great as usual! And nice tip about the anchor finger. Didn't know that.
Thanks Justin, this is really helpful, i wish you uploaded it few years ago, so i could save my time, cuz i learned it my self in a hard way.
Hey Justin thanks for all rhe great content and lessons ... you've made my life so much better despite all the health issues and my favorite guitar tutor. Im always looking for you vids when trying ro learn something!! Can you please do a video on Jake Xerxes Fussel's style of southern folk. I just discovered this cat and can't get enough of it. He is playing souther folk and blues with a heavy droning
I am one of the people who don't like to use fingernails when playing. I find them to make a much a brighter sound, and I prefer a very mellow vibe.

I use fingernails just because the calluses on my right-hand fingers are not hard enough and produce a weak sound.

Nw Thts My Sir !! I Am Proud Of You !! :D
I’d like to see an episode where @JustinGuitar meets Tim Edey. That is gonna have to be the happiest KZread guitar video ever!
If you (like me) have trouble with the little finger anchor techique you can try resting your palm/wrist on the bridge like John Fahey does.
Great "Lesson"
very nicely explain.respect from india
Thanks for the great lesson Justin. Do you record your videos with an external mic or external webcam?
I was in a car crash. Brain injured, vertically sheared pelvis (broke hip and a piece went upward), broken ribs, punctured lung (collapsed). This is the just of it, it happened 2months short of 1 year ago. It was very difficult touching the G again. I finally learned to play the one style that eluded me (Left handed). Ive done well with fingerstyle. Its like my dormant subconscious plays to me, unnatural sound hurts my head. I can guide the playing but its easier to let it flow. I love it.
Justin do you have information regarding keys etc? The prerequisites you mentioned. I can not find it in your channel. Thank you in advance.
Justin - your stuff is terrific in every way. Thank you! Is there any chance you can do the Guess Who's "She's Come Undun?"
that guitar is beautiful
Could someone PLEEEEAAASEEEEE tell me what model Maton that is, I just love it!
Nice ring Justin :)
So Justin, i have a question. I can play many folk songs of this style, simon and garfunkel, iron and wine, etc. But Im mostly self taught with a little bit of youtube help over a couple of years, and I havent watched your whole series of lessons, and when you mentioned about the music theory stuff i would need to know at the start I was lost. Will i still be able to follow these folk lessons or would you recomend i start the whole series even though ive got some experience already?
@JustinSandercoe JUSTIN YOU ROCK!
Justin hey man thanks for the lesson. Been a subscriber for years. Was wondering if you could show us how to show us those songs or chords you were playing in the beginning and when you played half threw this lesson. They were beautiful arrangements. And sound super fun to learn... I learned landslide a couple years ago now every time I try and finger pick I come up with something that sounds simililar to landslide I need help getting away from every song sounding like landslide
I have to use my little finger as my ring finger was dislocated years ago

I love Justin sandercoe I do. He's not making billions off the backs of innocent children or trying to take over the world. He just give simple effective guitar lessons to us aspiring musicians. Top guy 🤗😉👍
U r my guitar only guitar teacher !!!
Hey Justin, awesome guitar lessons for more experienced players as well. I was jus wondering, what Maton guitar is that and which one do you recommend me if I was to buy one? Thanks!
Yes. Any instrument, in my opinion (especially a fretted stringed one like the banjo), helps learn another instrument. Sometimes they are, or can be, tuned the same or similarly, for example. Open G chord is one common banjo tuning that can be used on the guitar, although it is best to stay with standard (EADGBE).tuning at first. But things like finger placement on the fretboard (next to the fret to the right-handed player's right), basic sting plucking and so on will carry over.
my little & ring fingers are a little bit damage and I want play finger style can you suggest something for me thanks for your help
Hey Justin, could you do Bleecker Street? That would be awesome!
Nice sounding acoustic. What are the tone woods?
I've not even completed the IM course . What am I doing here ?
hey Justin .. how can I get the notes of this wonderful tune u play just in the beginning of this "intro to folk fingerstyle module" ??
@herbiesnerd maybe on PIMA i'm wrong, but in classical music notation, all expression indication are in italian. Whether a music piece has a mathematical time indication or not, in classical music it is customary to describe the tempo of a piece by one or more words. Most of these words are Italian, because many of the most important composers of the 17th century were Italian, and this period was when tempo indications were first used extensively. From wikipedia: Musical_vocabulary_for_tempo
finger picking is the one thing I really need to get better at.
Justin you should check out the artist City and Color. His style of playing the acoustic guitar is unique
@JohnRoss10 Thought it was one of his Maton's but it isn't looking at the headstock. Justin?
@herbiesnerd Before the metronome, words were the only way to describe the tempo of a composition. Yet after the metronome's invention, these words continued to be used, often additionally indicating the mood of the piece, thus blurring the traditional distinction between tempo and mood indicators. For example, presto and allegro both indicate a speedy execution (presto being faster), but allegro also connotes joy (from its original meaning in Italian).
which song he played in this video? from 4:11
nice ring duude, i want one
The action on my acoustic is so high its going to kill me to play that :D
Brother, can you make videos with folk strummings?
I liked the thingy at the start and as example, but I have trouble on coming up with these on my own. I play electric but cant do this,
When are you going to demo your new sponsors amps? I really wanna hear you play on a Two Rock!

@@justinguitar Thank you for making available all the high quality content you create.
I'm having a very specific issue. When I attempt finger style with the C chord I'm unintentionally muting the high e This doesn't happen with strumming only when I try to learn fingerstyle
I am a great fan of Bert Jansch, Davy Graham, Jimmy Page and other folk players ....so really work to get the technique right
Justin will there be a rock course module?
@herbiesnerd In other hand italian and spanish are similar, in many cases, so PIMA acronym can fit perfectly to italian, same initials of hand fingers. Ciao. P.S. Do you Remeber Led Zeppelin album "CODA" is an italian word used in music sheet. Also pianoforte instrument (piano) was invented by an italian...it literally means Piano (slow, low volume) Forte (strong, loud) the older harpsicord had no dynamics instead of piano.
Can you PLEASE tab out the part from 4:10-4:20. Or at least post the chords. Thank you! I love the lessons! :)
what's the song on the opening?
@topperdoggle my bad when i looked it up the site said the v symbol was used in the UK oh well
@afms93 You should know that when someone uploads a video for the first minutes you can only see it in 240p because KZread needs to convert it properly
cool ring
does anybody know the shape of Justin's guitar looks slightly smaller than you standard grand auditorium maybe a folk body or something
U r the best Justine!!!
Justin I am a new subscriber and really interested in learning flatpicking in the folk/gospel style. being a blues/rock oriented guitarist I am really having a hard time getting away from the pentatonic scale. I know the major scale but am having a hard time putting it to use. Please help I'm goin crazy. thanks alot.
I don't have fingernails, I ate them all
@Abs9106 i think he's used it on his last couple of vids... my guess is a maton EBG808C Artist. It's been on my GAS list for a while. Confirmation? (Confirmaton?)
Is that his song "Page 99"
This is an introduction lesson into his series of folk fingerstyle, if you want more playing have a look at his page (description) into the section "Folk".
@afms93 yeah
I wish i could be good at it..

will u explain keys
In classical music all the words are italian,or latin and they have a meaning. Allegro= happy ad libitum= as you please
You should really go to his website if you have questions, more likely he will answer there or you will find some answers.
@TheKillerFabivs I know right...

I should probably also mention that I have ZERO understanding of theory...I can play very well when in the rock/blues realm but country/gospel/ and flatpicking in the major scales throw me>>>>please help
