BJJ is what gave me my soul back after surviving years of brutal domestic violence and an attempted murder by someone much heavier, taller and stronger than myself. I was constantly living in a fearful and traumatized state of mind, even long after the aggressor was gone. Maybe even more so. I got sick of constantly questioning how to be truly free, without becoming an aggressor, without becoming helplessly dependant on the mercy of bigger, scarier people in this world. I finally found BJJ as an answer to that question and I'm forever in its debt, truly. It's nothing short of phenomenal what your body can do once you stop making yourself so small in your own mind.

Holly Rey Hi Holly. I just wanted to let you know that I will be praying for you tonight. I want you to know that you have been fearfully and wonderfully made by the God of Heaven and earth who sent His Son for people like you and i so we can have everlasting life in Him. You have tremendous worth because you have been made by God, and He wants you to come back to Him through repentance and faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. I’m really sorry to hear about the struggles you’ve had. I don’t claim to understand them but i hope this encourages you.

I can tell you as a woman, it truly helps! Altough i trained muay thai, which is a totally different kind of sport. I stopped because it was a bit too brutal for my liking and now im really looking into jiu jitsu techniques and want to start too! But just the confidence in yourself helps you to prevent something happening, because usually the perpetrators target those who look like they're already scared. I used to be like that.

"If nobody wins the fight, you won. Especially if the opponent is bigger, heavier, and stronger than you are" Yes!!! After training BJJ for about 3 years I was assaulted by a man on the street. He was certainly bigger, heavier, and stronger plus had the element of surprise on his side. Thanks to BJJ I was able to control the situation, defend myself, and fight back until he decided to bail on the fight. Adrenaline was flowing, I was in full on flight or flight mode, but I was comfortable and in my element due to so many hours of drilling and rolling. BJJ can literally be a life saver.

I've been a fan of MMA for more than a decade now, and I can say that grappling part of any fight is a HUGE part, it's incredibly important and it can turn any fight upside down at any moment. Everybody who underestimates technique is plain wrong, HOWEVER I notice people lately tend to underestimate strength and size factors too, which is just as wrong...For example one great grappler can beat much bigger and stronger opponent than himself, but imagine that opponent being much bigger, twice as strong AND knowing how to grapple just as good as the first guy :) the first guy has very slim chances of winning in any way :) So in a nutshell I believe that one should not underestimate anything, everything matters at a right place and at the right time, it's up to us to use our self defense tools the best we can given the situation we are in, and, of course, to first avoid the violent confrontation as hard as we can, before actually getting into a fight.

+minecraft songs Hope you got over it. Feminist attitudes like that are childish. (If you are young, never mind. I can't expect a child to not be childish.) The channel, which is pretty ironic in nature, seems to be for men who want to become better men. Maybe I can find a channel for women that I can complain about too. I'm here because I love BJJ. ABSOLUTELY NOBODY, especially Rener Gracie, will ever claim that women aren't tough or able to fight or defend themselves. I roll with women all the time: and yes, some of them are way better than me. You read too much into this.

What's the odds in that scenario actually happening?? the average Street fighter is satisfied with landing hay makers, you'd even have a edge against a semi decent boxer. I've had too many fights to count, only clearly lost once and it was coincidentally to a guy more disciplined at MMA than I was at the time. 😂 I had it coming, tho, I thought I was a ninja turtle who could beat everyone. one thing I can say is most mma guys will take it easier on you, compared to a street fighter who's liable to kick you while your down. smh

injuries are pretty rare in brazilian jujitsu during training due to the fact that your teammates go at a pace that is challenging but they are not out to kill you in competition however injuries are slighty more common do to the competitiveness of the sport, but are still rare themselves most of my injuries have been minor.bruises scrapes and minor mat burns mostly,my most serious one had to of been a bruised rib....but i do have to state thate serious injuries in all combat sports and martials arts are a possiblity and stuff like dislocated shoulders do happen but as long as yuou use some common sense you will be fine.my finers and hands have never been injured and have never heard of it happing to anyone else.i would deff try it out brazilian jujitsu has changed me life

BJJ is self defense. It's not really an active offensive combat art but more of a defensive tool. Being good at BJJ will depend on your flexibility and ability to focus on the task at hand. Distance control.

+H.D.Instrumental People are asking this a lot here. Not only is it awkward to punch over the knees, but if they try you can collapse back down into guard and force them to miss, or push away with feet on their hips. Also, look at the angle, you said it yourself: the dick. I don't want anyone punching my dick but it's the testicles that really hurt, and that's why the knees are together. You won't win the fight with an awkward arm-punch to the dick.

For one, the fact that when proper technique is applied the other guy would be biting his own arm. And 2, he's got 5 seconds before cutting the blood flow to the brain makes him unconscious (not exaggerating, talking from self experience)

Either palm strikes or heavy blows to the stomach will do the trick. The idea behind a palm strike is you won't damage the bones (in your hand and in their body) as much and it would most likely leave a bruise or slightly damage muscle tissue slightly, you are 100% able to knock someone out with a palm strike the same way you could with a punch.

An elbow stike could kill him. They are mainly used in muay thai and can be even more damaging to someones face then a punch.

Use the side instead of point of the elbow, it'll be easier to hit with, will inflict less damage and will allow you not to break your hand
