He really hit her with that “This was just a moment in the woods.” 😂 😂 that took me out

The line "I'm in the wrong story" was actually thought up by Joanna!

Her performance is absolutely perfect. Each comedic beat, each shift of emotion, each realization the character comes to--she portrays them all and navigates her way around Sondheim's tricky lyrics with such natural ease.

I love that she mentions the fact that he's married before she mentions that she is.

Joanna Gleason won a Tony for this role in 1888. Her scenes with Chip Zien her husband the baker are good too.

Joanna Gleason was born in 1950 and the first Tony awards were in 1947 so it’s very impressive that she won a tony 65 years before they started when she was -62 years old

That Tony should have been Bernadette's. Gleason was awesome but Peters was unreal, the goddess of theatre.

No because the baker and his wife are of roughly the same age and the baker is only around about a year older than Rapunzel (he was too young to remember his mum being pregnant - hence the "I had a brother?"). Rapunzel and Cinderella are of roughly the same age and the Prince's are of roughly the same age as each other and Cinderella and Rapunzel. Therefore, the Baker, Baker's Wife, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Rapunzel's Prince and Cinderella's Prince are all within about a 3-year age span. So at most, the Baker's wife is 3 years older than him, yet the Prince acts older and is most likely older than Cinderella and the Baker's Wife is most likely older than Rapunzel, meaning that Cinderella's Prince and the Baker's Wife are probably the same age. Do note that this is all speculation and assumptions based on phrases and character personality in the musical, some of it is definitely true like the Baker and Rapunzel being a year apart in age. Feel free to dispute this but I think I'm right (I'm playing the Baker in my school's rendition so I've kind of been forced to learn a lot about this musical, luckily it's a really good musical).
