As an INTJ who loves my INTP friend, it drives me nuts when she is loyal to terrible friends. I have an INTP sister as well, and I know that INTPs tend to be more forgiving and generally much better at expecting goodness out of people. For myself, there are just some things that if it's morally dubious or outright immoral and disrespectful, I really cannot see why I need to waste my time with the person. It's just really frustrating because as a friend, I really just want to tell her that her to leave these friends that are clearly using her, but also I feel like if I have already told her and she chooses to forgive them, it's not my place to tell her she's wrong. It's still her life decision. I love INTPs, but their lack of self-value when it comes to friendships seriously drives me nuts.

I understand how you feel because I've felt the same way about people I care about not just the INTPs. It really does drive me nuts but I learned that I was just projecting my own values onto them. They're humans and they can make their own decisions and will learn from their mistakes. Your only job is to be there when they need you ✊

Its not that we're forgiving, its that the dealing with the drama of speaking up far outweighs the peace we gain by just giving people what they want (to a point). Im curious to see how your intp friend/relatives respond when they reach their limit. Because when an intp explodes, theyre bringing YEARS of laser focused, pent up fire and fury with them.

I'm an INTJ that's been talking to this girl and I noticed that whenever we had a question (no matter how small), we would both instantly grabbed our phones to google to find the answer. I've never seen anyone else do that. I assumed she was also an INTJ. I asked her and she is an INTP. It made me notice the difference in the Google search. I'd find the answer and read a small amount to make sure it's accurate and drop it, while she's still reading it a couple minutes later.

This is the EXACT reason why my INTP and I have a rule that we can't Google anything when we're around each other. It's more fun to Ni & Ne the topic to see how the other person's mind works and see where we end up (even if the answer is incorrect) because it's just fun to play the abstract game. You should try it with her, you'll learn a lot about each other 😂

I am an INTP married to an INTJ man and this is the best talk I've ever seen on how INTPs and INTJs interact. I love the term "mind mates" because that's exactly how we first connected as friends. INTJs are great to talk to because they will dive deep into a topic and they tend to have expert knowledge on the things that interest them. INTPs value knowledgeable people who can give us a greater understanding of a topic.

@@asheghefarsi I personally don't think INTP and INTJ are natural rivals. If respect is on both sides we find a lot in common. The main conflict can arise between INTP's desire for flexibility and INTJ's desire for focus. But if they work together the INTJ can help the INTP organize and prioritize thoughts and goals and the INTP can help the INTJ to fill in blind spots and discover options their laser-focus might have missed.

Our office hallways are lined with white boards and I see that 'ok, GO!' dynamic often. I'm usually one of the smartest persons in the room but I'm awed by these guys working out a function. Low maintenance is the exact way I would describe my relationship with my INTP friend. In fact, I'll go as far as to say I appreciate him because he forces me to come correct on my shit. There are a lot of times we'll be gaming and I usually play characters that have a bit of style, while he'll go for the more practical characters. How this usually ends up working is I'll be doing a lot of flashy techniques to move around and do things, but it makes me more precise in how/when I decide to so that stuff, cause I KNOW FOR A FACT, the moment I mess it up my INTP friend will be like, "So... what happened there?" and all I can respond with is "shut up." cause we both know what happened, I miscalculated and I got wrecked. But we also have those amazing moments where I'll see him working out something to make sure people get their buffs/protections and such and I'll understand the ideal pattern he's going for and move into position to make it happen, since others aren't seeing what's going on, or if someone is sleeping at their job, I know I can always count on him to see how the plan is going awry and if he can adjust, he will without even needing to be asked because he knows what is supposed to happen and if it's possible to adjust. In the end, the same thing we both say to each other when those moments happen just generally applies to the overall relationship and that is, "Bruh, I love you man." 🥰

It's always funny when INTPs try to use Ti against our Fi. They're probably confused because we're so logical most of the time until there's something that goes against logic just because we feel like it. I know Ken is a low tier character but he's my favorite character INTP! 😂

@@justcallmejon22 Absolutely. Plus the ribbing we can give each other is always subtle enough that the "nerds" understand what is happening even if others don't. I remember in raid someone had mentioned one of my normal moves I like to exploit was "useless" in the fight because the boss arena and shape doesn't really allow for it to truly be utilized other than for damage. And admittedly that set off Auntie Fi like, "how dare you say anything I have is useless, I'm going to prove it's not," but when I went to execute, of course I miscalculated. The moment it happened I already saw it and was just like crap... and sure enough my INTP homie came over the mic with, "So... what happened there?" to which he got the expected response of, "shut up." Fast forward two weeks later, and my INTP homie found himself in the exact same situation where he needed to do a similar move. I heard it over the mic when he was like, "crap... I think I'll need to try something..." and instantly knew what he was going for because it was really the only part in the fight you could pull off something like that. And of course me wanting to help told him, "You're going to need to move to X spot and then do your move," but it was in the heat of the moment so naturally he missed it being as on the spot as it was. The next pull we got to that point and to poke at him a little and it went as follows: Me: Hey bro... INTP: Yeah? Me: I'm gonna do the thing. Executes move as intended with no issues. Me: Hey bro... INTP: Yeah? Me: Did you see me do the thing? INTP: Uh huh... Me: Cool. And it was all love, no animosity. Just a very simple acknowledgement, and hopefully a learning example.😄

As an INTP, I see the difference in our thought processes clearly when doing certain tasks.. Ti + Ne makes things.. difficult, to say the least. Basically, we do not want to make a decision because we can see many ways that decision could be wrong, or put us in a bad position. Ni + Te is the exact opposite; it excels at determining the best route to take in a certain situation, and doesn't question their decision, instead deciding to put in an action, thus finalizing the task. This is evident when an INTP that is an amateur at Chess tries to play against a Te user. The INTP will take very long to come to a decision because they're calculating the risks taken by moving every piece in different locations, and deciding subjectively which piece is worth what. This is why I believe INTPs excel at puzzle games, where they can fully look at every part of a system, and break it down piece by piece, and then once understood, solve the problem. Whereas INTJs excel at strategy games more, where they can see a path to take from within that will help them reach a goal. It's quite a dynamic to behold.. My best friend is INTJ, and there are lots of things admire about him, and I believe him to me as well.

Congrats on landing yourself an INTJ! One of the easiest friendship to maintain for sure. I agree with everything you said with a slight caveat. Ni operates knowing that there's always going to be uncertainties and Te is confident on it's ability to be adaptable. So it's not necessarily that we don't question our decisions, it's more that it's the most efficient/effective route given the known variables but we will adjust as needed when the unknown arises. An INTJ questions ourselves more than we will ever let other people be aware of 😉

I'd say it only applies to immature INTPs. INTPs are naturally quick to make decisions due their Ti but there's a quirk with it prefering a great deal of accuracy. Basically, the speed of INTP decision making depends completely on how much they know since it gives them confidence, and how much they need to know to feel like they know enough is often unknown to them, lol. Normally - unreasonably a lot since Ne is not linear and prefers hopping around the world of ideas, collecting info chaotically. I used to suffer a lot from analysis paralysis. After assessing this issue I concluded that I should give into my Ne more - let it drag me here and there, experiment with decision making, even if it makes chaos. And in order to give Ne the max amount of freedom I started developing Si to back it up and give me a feeling of some predictability through understandaing and remembering basic concrete things about the world. You know... How not to die, use societal structures, move around and what is the bare minimum of things that must be done systematically. It provides a way more dynamic and intuitive lifestyle. The core thing is simply to learn pragmatic basics about life - then you'll feel much safer going ooga-booga with decision making cuz you'll know enough to get yourself out of bad outcomes.

Dude, you nailed me with what was the bane of most of my dating life... basically the, "I don't want to ruin this relationship I value so much by accidentally making it awkward or broken either through initial rejection or a failed relationship". I have never understood why people do that when someone expresses feelings or something doesn't work out, and it made it soooo impossible to ever explore so many relationships. People have this tendency to reject wholy instead of reject and encourage continued friendship. I know this has to do with the way many people act when rejected too, but it is super frustrating none the less. I grew up with parents who divorced when I was 7, but are best friends still today, even as one has remarried. So, I guess I had a weird set of role models.

She teaches me BSL, French, German, I teach her more science stuff, but for languages I usually teach her Japanese, Romanian and Spanish. We just love having someone to share our knowledge with, and because we're both so keen to learn, when the other says something, we just learn that by heart, and after a while we just show off to other friends, saying that we taught each other, and we're so proud of it! Even though we're literally best friends, I also consider her a rival, as I'd like to surpass her in knowledge, though she's saying that I already know much more than she does. She's also my role model as she knows how to give proper advice, is very smart, and can handle difficult situations. With other friends, I can't be sure if our friendship would last, but with her, I know it will, because I've talked to her about it, and she said that I won't need to worry because she'll never leave me, but rather try to work things out with me, which non of my other friends ever said before, and we've both expressed how much we value for each other, many times. With her I can be fully honest, and the same goes for her, thus we're not afraid of showing our honest thoughts and emotions. For me, It has been nothing short of a movie story! In short, my unusual reaction to office politics led me to introspect about my tendencies. thats how I found out that I am an INTJ and further researching on personality types, over last 2 months, I came to a conclusion that my boss for whom I had started developing soft corner is probably an INTP. I can't imagine how last two years of my life at this office has played out. Now after learning about my type, i have realised that each big step (e.g. voicing my concerns to the administration/ standing up for my values etc) i have taken there fits perfectly within INTJ personality, and how freedom to work and intellectual talk with my boss were destined to make me feel happy, understood and confident. I think this is the first time I am interacting with an INTP or any Ni/Ne kind that understands me, doesn't put any pressure. But it is really really different and difficult to navigate (due to power and gender differences, I can't be too inquisitive/friendly) yet intensely joyful. My feelings are getting involved and often I am afraid to lose this connection.

I'm an INTJ my close friend is INTP. I love how similar we are. It's really hard for me to connect and open up with people but i genuinely love her a lot, i feel myself when I'm with her. We think alike so i connect with her even more but the only thing i hate hate about her is how forgiving she is to people. She'll forgive people and let them take advantage of her on the other hand i an INTJ never forgive people if they have wronged me even once so i find it annoying when INTPs forgive people so easily. Another thing I've noticed is that even though we both are straightforward my INTP friend is straightforward in a nice way and I'm meaner. Still she loves me 😂 we even joke around saying if you were a guy i would've married you, we are totally eachothers type but in similar gender.

I haven't watch bing bang theory but I always figured the Sheldon was probably more INTP than Leonard seem to me to be slighty more able to be goal oriented than Sheldon Am I wrong? But a big thing about INTP vers INTJ is that INTP are not focus on going into action. There is a lot of introspection and this translate to the stereotypical lazy, sleeping all day image of the INTP while the INTJ , Judging is more action, goal oriented driven to accomplish what they want. Though both can be ambitious. INTP is extremely prone to self introspection and a very high level of perfectionism and is very interested in any sort of ideas while the INTJ is stereotypically very orderly, will master a subject and move to action.

I didn't type the characters in BBT so I'm not sure what their actual types are. I agree with the delineation of both type's strengths and weaknesses and I want to add that INTJs are perfectionists in our own right but we're aware that perfection is dicated by the situation. So what is perfect in one instance will but sub-optimal in another and Ni/Te will let an INTJ know when good is enough 😅

It's funny because I am an INTP and my friend is an ISTP and my friend has the worst ability to detect social cue, they might as well not exist. Saying something inapropriate or not stopping after people start showing sign of disconfort is 100% him, and like I think almost 100% of those time I was with him I literally had to tell him to stop what he was doing. He also told me of plently of time where he got someone very angry or fustrated with information he kept asking them. It's like he has or he says he has a craving for information and has a complete lack of socially acceptable boundaries that one should I think and would probably have with a complete stranger asking you about your personal life for seemingly no reason. And if you ask him why he wants to know he'll just says I'm curious. Growing up I never identified with the idea of being curious I have said multiple times that I tend to hate curious people, but during the last few years I've realized that I am a lot more curious about stuff than most people that I know at the very least, except for my friend the ISTP. But also while I am curious about theory and philosophie and abstract art. I also like to do devil advocate on controverial topic and I enjoy debate and arguing. My friend seem to just be interested in knowing useless things like who was present at someone party and gossip information. He will sometimes start discussion with me about a movie star and unleash this bank of information he gathered on a certain celebrity he took fancy at some point and knows just the insane amount of information about them and sometimes the most random shit about their life. And I don't know how much other INTP feel about gossip, small talk and rumors of celebrity. BUt I find that it the most boring shit that exist on planet Earth. I truly could not give a **** about any personal life of any actors or actresses. Then the discussion is just one way, while I wait for him to realize that he is and has been the only one talking about about half an hour or more, to realize I find no interest in what he is talking about and cannot find it in me to even try. and most of the time. I have to say it. Like almost everytime it happened and it still happens from time to time, look I don't have anything to say about that, I don't care. I also found I was a lot better at reading people than my INTJ friend. And have been systematically able to predict his behavior and critic some of his action and motive before he did some things and I found it funny because he argues that I am wrong and then prooves me right a few days later. I don't why but after I start talking to people and knowing them, I find people to be extremely predictable. I've never known someone I could not predict how they would react to scenario. After spending a lot of time with them that behind said. Not saying I am able to predict stranger or acquintainces.

I look at Fi and Fe often in terms of faith. I think Fi tend to look at themselves and think "am I a good person?" whereas I would think as an INTP "am I doing my part in the family of God?" I think Fe makes it easy for me as a Christian to understand that where I am isn't based on personal virtue as much as relationship with Jesus where I see Fi types (especially INFPs) as kicking themselves for personal failures.

I've not spent much time with an INTP, though my INTJ BFF was pretty much the INTP/rest of reality translator during her high school years. Her friend would answer questions in class and no one else would understand him, and then the teacher would ask her to explain to the rest of the class what he just said. Also, she'd remind him to do things like stop running science experiments on his orange and actually eat his lunch. He studied at MIT, I think, and took over his dad's engineering/consulting firm. Hopefully he doesn't need a translator for his clients. If there are INTP girls that you know and are interested in, why not try flirting with them a little? I mean, they do have Fe, and are girls so have probably had some level of required training to identify emotions. You don't usually get to be a girl in this society without being beaten over the head with the expectation that you understand feelings, and finding some kind of coping mechanism to mimic what society wants. I would think they should pick up on it. And maybe I should clarify that when I say flirt, I mean word play and strategy games or something along those lines. Because you're right that INTJ/INTP are mind mates. I mean, I'm not an iNTP, obviously, but as and NT girl, mind games rate highly as part of the dating experience. Not mean mind games, but things where you're gently batting the ball of conversation back and forth, bouncing ideas of off each other. Perhaps with an INTP offer to help with one of her experiments in particular.

While I enjoy looking at the big picture, or predicting the future (Ni), if you ask me why the overall trend should be the way I predict/plan, I could draw from my knowledge and (at least attempt to) give a satisfying logical explanation, which sounds like Ti to me. Saying something should be in certain way based on gut feeling (Ni?), without at least providing a good reasoning sounds like terrible opinion to me. INTPs may enjoy trying to predict the future here and there, but in general, I don't think we feel like having a sense of what's going to happen before it does takes away the surprise factor that makes things feel new or spontaneous. For example, I don't like it when someone tries to figure out the ending of a movie outloud. "He's probably gonna die in the end", etc. High Ne people no like this.

It seems to me that the "great capability to analyze large amounts of information" that people attribute to INTPs comes from their relatively equal ability to pay attention and see both the details and the big picture. At the same time. I would always get confused when tests asked if i I'm "detail-oriented" or "big picture person". It was hard to me to get how you can be one but not the other. Details make the big picture, they're basically the same thing just in different perspectives. I see my mind map as a system of systems (a system within a system within a system etc) and can easily zoom in on details and zoom out on bigger picture. You say you "enjoy predicting future", but ain't it something an Ni dom does unwillingly and compulsively? I quite like building logical connections but it's pretty much a huge compulsion to me - sometimes tiring even. Not something I can stop doing.

As a female INTP, we get sick and tired of hearing a long winded explanations of something we're aware of. Could have been that you didnt get to the point quick or directly enough. We want to hear the problem, not the lecture. Its like.... say if Im coloring outside the lines of a picture too much because Im coloring too swiftly. Often times, instead of someone just cutting to the chase and saying "Hey, you seem to be overzealous because some of your coloring went outside the lines." I usually recieve a brief lesson on how to color. I know how to color. Whats the problem and point youre trying to make? Or if we're salty What's the point in this argument you're trying to make so I can focus on reasoning why or why not its making any sense to me. Idk how you interacted with her exactly but I've heard this lament before about INTPs like me and I've reached my limits at this point with those kinds of interactions. It fills my head with too much annoyance and frustration trying to listen to someone explaining information I already know and then I start losing attention and just fall into mostly emotional responses. Its annoying but that's what I've realized about how my mind works in dialogues. Trying to make fixes, you see.

The frustrating thing about being an INTP is that Ne is our most employable trait but it's secondary. Nobody pays for Ti alone unless it's strongly coupled with some Ne activity. There isn't really a career that fits too well. Software dev is the best but we're up against the INTJ rock stars all the time. An INTJ is great at building new software. INTP is better at reverse engineering and modifying/extending some existing thing bit by bit. Sorry, I know that's nothing to do with love.

Hey man, you're looking at this from the wrong prespective. You're focusing on the superpower of the INTJ whereas downplaying your own. Advancement in coporate is not by what you accomplish but by people liking you. INTPs are more liked in the work force than INTJs so once you develop a system to finish tasks quicker/on time, you're miles ahead of the INTJ.

You are allowed how you think but the following is what I see as reality. You need to get off the net and learn how to socialize and understand, be comfortable with rejection. I know my friend did mb whatever bs zodiac in medschool and I still ask them after seeing them go into residency, you still believe in the zodiac? I did the test over 3-4 times? I got (I unno?) intj. Just looking at it face value, intj are easily triggered kinda reminding me someone with borderline personality disorder. I would never brag to anyone about my love life, the only thing intj has right about ne is my privacy and I’m self assured. In my case, I call it self sufficient. I like to observe who I date and that means many hang out where (MBTI has zero evidence on humanity) does not mean it doesn’t open my opinion some people choose to communicate this way. But, I look for compatibility. What’s our conflict resolution? What are our boundaries? Are we both open to therapy? How do we bond? Children? What I see people who complain identify themselves using mb(who cares) they lack identify in focus and also have trauma in their lives. Not easy to tackle abandonment issues and unhealthy attachment if you believe using a “online dictionary” will help you regulate emotions.

INTP (me) versus INTJ at work. INTJ is my eternal nemesis. INTJ software dev: 10 Jira tickets in TODO. One month to deadline. Tickets smoothly glide across the columns. In Progress. Testing. Done. Timesheet app fills up with carefully timed entries. 26 mins on this ticket. 34 on another. 3h 49m on a third. After 4 weeks, all tickets in Done. INTP software dev: 10 Jira tickets in TODO. One month to deadline. Four weeks of nervous project manager asking for "status updates" as the tickets remain stuck in TODO or jump mysteriously between In Progress and TODO. Day before deadline, all tickets in Testing. Tester freaks out but all tests pass. Dev looks at empty timesheet app and tries to figure out how to apportion fictional time chunks to everything in a way that matches the client's expectations. Whenever I am on a team and an INTJ comes along, I know my days are numbered. It's not that they can do things better than me ... but they don't give PMs sleepless nights and heart attacks.

Not sure where this comment is coming from but I understand what you're trying to say and dumb isn't the right word. Dumb has to do with intelligence and that's the superpower of an INTP. I refuse to enter a battle of knowledge of a topic against a Ti dom if we're both equally as invested in the topic because we'll be approaching it from two different angles 😂

WHAT!!!!! INTPs are not low maintenance. They ignoring sensory or not paying attention makes them the most high maintenance of all types. Se inferiors have to pick up the sensory slack because although it frustrates us we can’t ignore it like INTPs can. You want to a live a life where you are supported emotionally and in the physical world? Stay away from an INTP. DEFINITELY don’t own physical assets or responsibility with them unless you want to chained to them (e.g., house, kids, pets, etc). You will drown with an INTP.

The funny thing is that my INTP described it using the exact same word before I showed him this video 😂

There's barely any resistance towards friendship when an INTP & INTJ meet. Somehow we learn to respect each other once we get into our dom function and it's refreshing to hear another person who uses logic as much as we do.
