When I read The Color Purple in 1982, as I finished it. I turned back to the first page and read it all over again. I have never done that with any other book. And I am a full fledged bookworm. Alice Walker created a work of art like no other.

I read Alice Walker's novel "The Color Purple" in 1982, and was fortunate to see a screening of the film at IU-B in 1985. Though the film was good, the novel is better because Walker openly addressed issues of Black women in an epistolary format that isn't often utilized by many novelists. The film does examine some of the passionate and violent issues pertaining to Black women; yet, it doesn't address these issues in totality. Thus, I look forward to viewing the new film version.

I read it in 1995, as a senior in HS for our "Gatsby Period Project". Then my peers thought it strange, as adults they agree the book is far better than the movie. It is worth reading and rereading.😊

Where is Whoopi Goldberg??? No where to be seen not at the premiere not on interviews ! It is celie’s story Whoopi should be involved some kind of way. Oprah purposely left Whoopi out of it. Oprah has completely strong armed the legacy of The color purple Sofia was not the main character. How wrong & cold to TAKE IT AND SAY SHE IS THE GODMOTHER OF THE COLOR PURPLE. Oprah don’t even understand the essence of the color purple because she didn’t play the role of celie. She didn’t not have to go deep within the bowels of the trauma that is the essence of THE COLOR PURPLE.

Listening to Taraji talk about being pregnant and having a kid in college as someone who currently has a newborn while in college is very inspiring, there have been many times where I just want to give up and quit but this is my sign from God to stay at it and see it through. Thank you for this Taraji. ❤

Why y'all keep running with this false narrative. Once that tiktok came out about body language everyone is now an expert on body language. If there is tension in the room it's not with each other. You can tell they genuinely love each other and want the best for each other. I swear we tear each other down more than anyone else.

I am blessed beyond words! I can not even express the what the Lord has done in these ladies and what an impact this on going legacy is having on people of all colors, races and Creed's, all Nations, Kindreds and tongues!!!. And for Taraji to share such positive Revelations that actually lend to the total essence of what the author was originally desiring to get across to readers and now viewers, it's not a black thang, nor a white thang or even a you!, it's an us thang!!! We all need a revival, after all we have experienced in these past few years and still experiencing, some of us to this very day!, We are surrendering our minds, thoughts and ways to the will of God, that is the only way in all of this that we will make it through!. God is so good and He will bring the good out of it all. Amen.
