@@janejustin1788 I find it's more unusual to find these kind of female friendships. My brother and most of the men I know are still friends with their childhood best friends. I on the other hand don't know any woman (including myself) who is still friends with childhood best friends. Unfortunately in the teen years we had falling outs of stupid stuff and I hear other women saying that's exactly what happened to their childhood best friends too. I think society plays a part in making women very hard on each other and we look at each other as competition.

It is so beautiful to see two unrelated people by genetics to love each other so much like sisters, mother, son and daughter. Their love is so pure, genuine, and angelic.

I love this! Love is patient, love is kind - never calling someone out of their name, being rude or raising your voice. Genuinely loving someone, taking an interest in their life, their interests, cheering them on, being supportive through the good and bad. Sharing laughter and tears, holding each others secrets- God I pray I find a friend like this before I die 💜 and I pray that I am this type of friend for someone else.

A friend like that is once in a lifetime

I had a bestie for 52 years. We shared everything. We had our ups and downs but always came back together. However, in 2019 I was hospitalized for 9 months in CA. My life went from doing ok to losing everything! My bestie said "come back to PA and stay with me". From the time I arrived things were strange. We had never lived together before, let alone with her husband. It didn't help that 2 1/2 months later covid-19 happen. I tried to help out around the house and out in the yard, as best i could. But, instead I was in the way. After living with her and her husband for eleven months and several big big blow ups, I moved into a senior only high rise. We very rarely speak. She went from calling us "family we choose" to, I was "a guest in her house". Naturally, there is a lot more to this story, but the fact remains after 52 years, she broke my ❤️! Be careful! You never know!

You probably overstayed your welcome. As soon as you could you should have got on your feet and be on your way. I would not want no one living with me and my hubby that long. She probably didn’t know how to tell you. I’ve had this happen to me before so I know from experience.

OP must have been pretty sick if she was hospitalized for 9 months. Her bestie should have known that it would take awhile for her to heal and get back on her feet. It's also very hard to find housing in some markets. The friend should have never offered to let her stay if that was the case. I relish in my independence and wouldn't let it get to the point of getting into arguments.

I say this with complete respect, however I really feel for Oprah. I can't even imagine not having anyone in your family to really be there for you. Both my parents failed me, however I at least had both my grandmother and Aunt that I could call no matter what and they would be loving and take an interest in me. I can't imagine not having anyone. That's so hard and painful.

As someone whom was adopted and also parentless with the recent loss of my beloved adopted mother.💔 You said it so very well, not having biological parents to rely on is a deep personal at times very sad pain that never ends. No matter how old I have gotten, or how much I’ve grown, or whenever I am for as long as I live. I’ll always wonder what my life could’ve been like, if I had my parents.😢

It is a blessing to have this type of a friendship. I thought I had one till covid hit, my life changed in some aspects. She could not understand me or stay on in my dark season. It’s alright. I am not bitter; this just shed light on who my friend was.

Gayle's hair looks so good on the shape of her face in this clip. Love their friendship.

My beastie passed away in Sept. We were friends over 50 years. It sad to say, she was months away from her 70th birthday! Yes, we finished each other's sentences, too!!! 💔

Interesting: watching this confirms Oprah and I have a lot in common (I had longterm friendships = no arguments/no yelling/no name-calling, I prefer one-on-one meetings vs partying, I prefer car rides without music, I like to be alone with my thoughts, I’m not extroverted, etc)..

Love this! My bestie and I have been friends for nearly 26 years. We aren't even remotely alike, but we are there for each other. The first years were tumultuous, but once be stopped trying to mold each other into the image of who we each thought we needed our friend to be, things became so easy and gratifying. She's the first person I call when good or bad things happen and she's the only person to see me ugly cry in decades. LOL! Trust me, the work that goes into cultivating close friendships is well worth the effort.

Some People never have the opportunity to have a friendship as close as Gayla and Oprah. I am one of those People. I am glad they are each other's ride of die.

I actually know people who no matter how hungry they are if they were out and if they wanted to just walk into a restaurant and have a meal they would never ever go in alone and sit there and eat alone . That's crazy and years ago I had a friend who said a lot of this being afraid to be alone in public is mostly an American thing . But yes a lot of people don't want to be alone with their own minds

Same here. Every day at 4pm. I even once wrote a scathing email to my local station where I used to live for constantly interrupting the Oprah Show with petty thunderstorm headlines (North Carolina's summer thunderstorms are legendary. I told the TV station they weren't worthy of carrying her show). 😁😁😁

Its crazy amazing how these 2 known each for 46 years and look like 46 we all know these women are way older then that but to age so gracefully its amazing.

Gayle, I’ve learnt to love driving without music, great time for clarity and perspective, also praying.

I admire their friendships... really admirable.

They both look incredably beautiful. Oparah just gets better and better. Gayle is growing in her own beauty. I don't have an "Oprah" or a "Gayle". Not yet.
