It took Levy exactly one question, 23 seconds into the interview, to bring up Magnus. Record breaker.

Chessboxing was what really got me into chess. I have always been a big sports fan but seeing an athletic sport like boxing and what I would call a finesse sport like chess combined really made me interested in chess. And I went to Levy's channel and his clear passion for chess really hooked me on the sport and I have been bad at it ever since

I am 41 years old and have been super, incredibly interested in Chess the last couple years. I need to play more but Gotham has inspired me to learn and be more in touch with the current form of the game. Love it and him. I learned when I was 6 and have always hovered around 1300, but I love watching top, mid and low level chess because there is always something to learn.
best advise I ever got from Levy. PP on the PP
I was surprised that Rozman wanted to play Capablanca. Given his own style of play, I was expecting some of the flashier players. 😊

I really enjoyed this
Great interview Levy!
Always a delight to listen Levy, thanks FIDE
To make interesting, FIDE can organise online chess tournament with top 100 rated players on one side and open to all on other side, just like call centre, top rated players can pick each game in queue and play... Like 3 games per open user as 5 mins game, 24x7 for one month... Those who win can move up get chance to play higher rated players... This way, you can find talent, who were not suppressed by financial/power influences... Also fans can connect with top players
Love to see Levy on the channel! Great interview.
With the separated live games without commentary plus this interview this channel is goated
People r underestimating Ian. I believe he will win a 3rd and maybe this time clinch the title. He has a lot of grit to keep going despite losing championship twice.
When will Chess 2 will be launched FIDE?
For a second I thought Levy was a candidate lol
I´m 17 and play since 6 ys old. After the nepo-Magnus world championship, i got into chess , and i discover Levy. I never watched more videos of a single youtuber in my life
His insight about the cool perspective of chess is so true i myself started playing in late 2019 quit playing in 2021 my rating is around 2050 in rapid the reason was the same as stated by gotham because after a certain rating chess demands time and your emotional energy which i dont think an average is ok with of course i love chess but now is just watch all the major tournaments on youtube
I thought i was a dull person until I saw the host

Chess has this peculiar quality where it's like watching a mathematician do math. It might be interesting,, but what they do feels so difficult, and if the proof goes on and on (Fermat's Last Theorem, for example), it can be a slog. When you see a sport like tennis, you don't have to play to admire the physical prowess on display. They hit shots you can't and you can see it. In chess, often one tiny mistake can cause a total change in the game, and yet people don't play well enough to see this happening. You have to be quite good at chess and still you'll miss things because these are the top players in the world.
@tennisCharlzz
Ай бұрын
This is one reason Levy makes more money than top chess players. People will pay to watch a tennis or football match. Would they pay to watch chess? You absolutely need commentary or you couldn't follow the game at all. I do wonder if AI might get better at explaining chess moves, but right now, it doesn't seem like it's well suited to explaining chess even if the best chess engines are much more powerful compared to the best players.
I thought he was interviewing himself
Tania should be the interviewer We want Caruana interview part 2
Levy never fails to mention (why) he is not a Grandmaster
You got 1million subs in 40 days doesn't mean they started playing during that period, they probably found your channel at that point of time when they were already playing.
Was expecting Levy to be the interviewer. Had to re-read the title. Caught me by surprise lol
Really good questions - not a common appearance in the world of chess interviews.
FIDE Candidates, and why is he interviewed?
That is an Uno reverse card
Who is this?
I’m glad I’m one of the people who started watching Levy when the spike came in .. arguably the best content creator in KZread for me!! And the best thing about it, is that not everyone can say “It could’ve been me” .. the guy is actually good at chess .. and can entertain & never fails to provide quality content!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽
I think Levy has done more to spread chess than any other person in the world, and it’s good to see FIDE actually recognising that
Nice chairs!
Bro never fails to milk magnus
I paused the video when Levy was thinking whom (in history) he would like to play. I guessed he would say Fischer or Morphy; but not because they were American.
When the interviewer gets interviewed
Levy 🤝💪
I never thought I would see an Ambassador chess set on a big chess channel. I have one and I consider it a bit .... mediocre. Should I change my opinion?
Who is this beautiful host
What is the name of the interviewer
Levy saying Hikaru is a favorite is just a lie. Everyone knows Nepo is the strongest but the desire on the majority is an youg indian to take the spot on World Championship. As a Brazilian I’m cheering for Pragg all the way!
Poor Levy, he won't hear the end of this for months. Why would FIDE do this? 😅
The first answer Levy gave was the correct answer to what develops people’s interest in chess, but he withdrew that statement. When Magnus plays, people watch the game.

Real Candidate !!
When broadcasting chess games I think there should be no live evaluation bar and the commentators shouldn't use chess engines as well. I think it kinda takes away the magic of the game, also it disconnects the players from the audience (because they don't have the same information) and in the worst case makes them look stupid ("he didn't find the best move") although they are the best players in the world. It also basically predicts the future so it can spoiler the outcome of a game ("this would have been the only winning move and he didn't find it"). Would love to here other opinions on this.

Whenever anyone talks about distributing chess on television, they always speak about it like it has to be live. Why can't they have players play classical games, keep the results hidden, then edit the footage down or dramatize it?
That's a Senator chess set. Thanks Amazon!
It's tough to explain the positive influence Levy is making on chess. His catalog should be collected and preserved. His sense of humor and devotion to the game are just.a few reasons. He is truly The Boss in his field.
