Art > OG Pennywise > New Pennywise. Although the actor did a really great job under the makeup in the new IT film; I just don't think that makeup was scary. He looks a little bit spooky, sure, but art looks fucking *terrifying* . I hope we never hear him speak; it makes him so much scarier.

@@kiillabytez I am not sure, but I know it was in production not long ago before the pandemic hit. So, delayed a bit like everything else, but I am sure they are doing their best.

I love clowns, but Art is pure nightmare fuel. David's body language and facial expressions are spot on.

I saw another interview of him actually dressed as Art and I didn't look away from him the whole time. He just steals the show. He is a very talented actor, especially with how much personality he is able to convey without saying a word.

I'm trying to think of a really great horror character (a real character, not just a one-note monster) that debuted after Freddy but before Art, and there really isn't too many. Dr. Decker from nightbreed maybe? The more I try and think of some really good ones, the more I realize we've been in desperate need of a really great horror character like Art for a long time now.

Met this guy shortly after seeing the movie. He was so sweet and when he told me a sequel was confirmed I was so happy.

My brain is having trouble conciliating that this normal looking friendly guy is Art the Clown, I'm having a Tobias Forge is Papa Emeritus moment.

You would never guess he was Art the Clown. Total transformation when the paint goes on to the mannerisms he does. Cult classic already

Art is one of the best horror movie characters ever.

Yep - i met CJ Graham (Jason) at The Gas Station (TX Chainsaw Massacre 1974) in October 2021, and he was truly a sweetheart, and super funny! I'm normally a proper, serious, dignified person around strangers, but he brought out the kid in me 😂

This nice, well spoken, polite and seemingly chill dude plays the most menacing presence I’ve ever seen in a film. What an awesome actor!

He deserves the interviews. Ive watched terrifer 3 times already on netflix. Would never believe this is the same guy. He really outdone himself.

David’s outtakes and behind the scenes are just hilarious he single handedly made terrifier worth it

David Howard Thornton was incredible as Art the Clown and you asked some really great questions. You can tell he enjoyed playing Art and hopefully we get to see more of him in the future!

I JUST watched Terrifier 2, never seen or even heard of it before and it is hands down and absolutely amazing movie and ART/ David Thornton did an amazing job playing Art the clown 👏👏

He seems like such a sweet, down to earth person. So weird how the nicest people play evil characters so well!

The thing they touched on really well in terms of the Mr Bean inspiration is that he's universal; you don't have to speak English, or really ANY language to get the joke, because he barely speaks, it's all visual and a physical performance. The same goes for Terrifier; because Art is silent, you don't need to speak English to understand why he's scary or understand his motives, because he doesn't HAVE any. At least none that are ever stated. He's just... merciless. The original Texas Chainsaw did that really well, too. Leatherface and his family never provide any hint as to the answer to "WHY?", and that's SCARY! His family do speak, but they never voice any motive, or much of anything sane at all. The key thing is that a character that speaks and expresses a motive can be reasoned with. A character that doesn't, cannot, and that makes them terrifying.

Same with the first Halloween. Michael Myers' family seems normal, middle class, no motive, he doesn't speak...that makes it more awesome!! Zombie's version, giving him a troubled backstory, spoiled all of that.

David Howard Thornton is just such a cool guy!!! One of the kindest guys, so sweet to his fans. Great all around dude.

Just to recover from the trauma, I love to see the interviews of the actors or the behind the set /making of the movie , to put everything right with the world..

he still moves his head and laughs like him lol. he is a sweet guy but damm if i was in the movie i would still be scred cause its a whole new wardrobe

He seems like a real cool guy. His acting as Art the clown is amazing, very scary. I wish the best for this talented actor. 😀👍

I love seeing super down to earth people that play the most terrifying characters. Like Bill Skarsgard, he was always making sure the kids were okay on the set of IT after he filmed scary scenes with them.

This reminds me of THE BAD SEED. Kid was so terrifying at the end they introduce cast as if it's an episode of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.

What separates Art from other horror antagonists is; he gets the job done.

He is a handsome guy 😍🤩 OMG!! I❤️Art the clown.

This guy played the most terrifying character I have ever seen in any horror film ever. He scared the crap out of me playing Art the clown.

I watched Terrifier last night. I’ve looked for an interview with this guy to assure myself he’s actually a decent guy in real life and I can sleep better tonight.

hah, cool name, once I tried to memorize the 50 (or something) first digits (I think what you have exactly) of Pi in an afternoon... I could tell them backwards at the end of the day and in the morning after, without fail... I was just bored but recognised now that you have all the digits correct I think so... it's interesting how our mind can remember that; you didn't just wrote numbers at random after 3.14152 that I think everybody would recognize as the next 50

It's so cool to see the actor behind the horrifying clown. David did an incredible job in bringing to life the writers' vision and with their writing he managed to depict one of the most brutal but at times funny killer. Like the scene where he gets hit and he just pulls out a gun to smoke the "MC" in the first movie and just keeps wasting the entire clip.

Silence is golden ❤

There's a very sweet continuity that throughout film history the scariest clowns have been portrayed by the nicest people, Tim Curry and Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise, Joaquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger(RIP) and Jack Nicholson as the Joker, John Carol Lynch as Twisty the Clown(AHS),David Howard Thortan as Art the Clown. And of course ALL these actors are absolute professionals.

As the late great writer Ray Bradbury (Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451) said, “Enthusiasm is contagious.” And you definitely feel love and enthusiasm from everybody involved in The Terrifier franchise.

David’s Point about guns being a power trip is legitimately insightful. There was even a whole It’s Always Sunny episode about it. I’m saying this as someone who’s shot guns before at ranges, it does give you an immense adrenaline rush and it’s important to keep that in check

I think Terrifier 2 catapulted him into the forefront of body horror - no doubt.

Is somewhat tranquilizing to hear him talk, when he's Art the clown and all quiet it's scary 🤣😱

He is so underrated!!! His redemption of Art the clown scared the fuck out of me and was impeccable!

Really glad I could stop the movie halfway through to see Art speaking and without makeup! Just to reassure myself, y'know!

Art could easy kill Bubba. Bubba is a human while Art is literally an immortal demon.

Art the clown sent chills up my spine. Those different facial expressions alone scared tf outta me and I love watching horror films. He played that role really really well. Would love to see part 2....damn!!! GREAT JOB!!

It makes so much sense that he has a background in comedy...this is the first time a horror movie made me laugh (in a very uncomfortable way but a laugh nonetheless) other horror movies that have made me laugh are it 2 (specifically the naked grandma scene) and tusk

Fantastic actor, it’s a shame the movie isn’t as famous as it should be (although it is growing slowly!!) Can’t wait for the sequel. By far Terrifier is one of the best recent horror movies, so perfectly campy but still genuinely creepy and disturbing at the same time

David is becoming the Robert Englund of his generation. Amazing performance in both 1 and 2

That was a great interview. He's such a nice guy in person. He definitely makes pennywise look like a baby when it comes to horror and gore as Art the clown. Great job on the movie. Can't wait to watch Terrifier 2 when it comes out.
