Teacher Turned Actor | David Howard Thornton | Life Story

David Howard Thornton, Actor has become known as the man behind one of the most iconic horror characters and clowns in Hollywood. Art the Clown.
He had the conversation before making the choice to go out and chase his entertainment dream, and he wasn’t the only one that thought he was gifted.
He felt the weight lifted off his shoulder once he decided he was going to pursue his career in entertainment.
Can you say, waiting tables?
New challenges and moving to New York made the next phase even more connected to the climb…
Smartly he looked at it as a “job” that would help him go to work for his career.
This is a conversation focused on the pursuit of making it doing the thing you love, and after making it, maintained humility.
He plays the character of a well know horror character, who doesn’t do sexy things in the Terrifier movies, but hardly influenced the mind of the man behind the suit and makeup.
We talk about the reaction got after his audition, the way the fans received them, and the explosion the movies and character took because of the Netflix exposure.
That’s just a hint of what we get into, we talk about what triggers David, how he responded to the newfound fame and has stood next to his values along the way…
If we’re lucky we’ll geek out on this one together!

Usually, when you see this type of interview with a horror actor, they are in a studio and sitting in a directors chair, but seeing David sit here, in his own home with his cat on his lap and telling his personal story, he seems so much more human - if that makes sense. Mad to see what the character gets up to versus this nice man right here.

As a haunt actor who was stuck in a heavy silicone mask for the first 4-5 seasons I worked (hard to talk, it just rattled through my mask instead of out, and hard to make facial expressions lol), Art the Clown seriously inspired me. Nothing annoys me more than a haunter telling new actors they have to be able to scream- thanks to this guy, I've made more people terrified (no pun intended lol) of me without doing anything but using my body/expressions. Art the Clown was my teacher and Thornton didn't even know it. I didn't care about Terrifier 2 much but Art is such a solid character and he is the only one who could be him. He's owned the character the same way Englund owned Freddy. Truly a legend and it was even noticeable in The Mean One. Thanks for being a teacher to me ❤

He is NOT like this in real life. He bullies people if u don’t agree with him politically on Instagram. So I find it HILARIOUS that he said he hates bullies. You don’t have a right to bully anybody. Anybody that is a conservative or stands for freedom or anything he bullies. I’ll never watch his movies ever again. Or if you’re a Christian, he’ll bully you.. YAH, real grown up there. Anytime he gets called out for insulting people. He’s a bully. I ripped into him because of how insulting he was to certain people. I don’t like bullies, and I was bully growing up. And HE instigated the bullying. I do not appreciate hypocrites.
