Interseeder: Planting Cover Crops Into a Growing Corn Crop
In this video, UVM Extension Northwest Crops and Soils Program staffer Jeff Sanders describes the Interseeder, a piece of equipment used to plant cover crops into growing field crops like silage corn. More information about cover cropping can be found at: www.uvm.edu/extension/cropsoil.... The video was made possible by a grant from the Northeast Extension Risk Management Center, based upon work supported by USDA/NIFA under Award Number 2012-49200-20031.

Most corn in Vermont is likely chopped off for silage to feed dairy cows...so there is much less residue
Why was the ground ever bare? The corn could have gone straight into last fall's crimped-down cover. Make your next vid "Undercover Farming"
The key to soil healh is to work with biology ! (not against it, so it is better not to use chemicals that are not good for the life in the soil). 2. Limit disturbance 3. Cover te soil 4. Increase diversity 5. Always keep living roots .
You wouldn't have a weed problem if you planted your cover at the same time as the corn. Check out Gabe Brown.
