Intersection Marking Tool Tutorial - Cities Skylines
Ойындар
The "Intersection Marking Tool" mod for Cities: Skylines allows players to add definition and beauty to conspicuously blank intersections. No props or decals required. Configurations can be copied and saved as templates. Lines also remain if the intersection is edited or moved with "Move It". This can turn an empty ambiguous space into something clean and defined.

This is why you have to learn, know, bind every single hotkey not only for the mods but also the vanilla C:S UI to just speedrun it like an RTS in competitive multiplayer (e.g. Age of Empires IV) to shorten the time it takes to do a standard intersection in order to MARK MORE INTERSECTIONS.

Intersection Marking should've been in the vanilla game.
I came into this thinking I already knew everything about Intersection Marking Tool, just hoping for some handy YUMBL tips. Then I had a lightbulb moment on the offramp example when you mentioned that creating a line makes the filler follow that line instead of cut across. It had never occurred to me that that was what caused my major annoyance with IMT. Thank you so much!

i use this mod alot but never understood how to create fillers in the middle of roads like that. now i know. thank you Mr Yumbl Sir
To make it invisible, you can also just delete the rules from a line. The line will stay (for the rest to use as reference) but the markings will disappear. :)

This is great, thanks. Regarding your working without notes, it's actually much more relatable for me. Watching people do things quickly and perfectly in a tutorial makes them go by too fast, and it makes our early attempts to learn the content seem pitifully far from the artificial perfection seen in a error-free, fast, planned out tutorial. Also teaches out how troubleshoot when we see the presenter troubleshoot on the fly.

No shame, I actuality cried with excitement over this mod watching you do this
Tip:when u paste the preset and it doesn't match u should try rotating AND inverting it will always work u don't need to copy from another intersection
Regarding 8:10, there is a more refined/controlled way to adjust points, you can hover your cursor over the text entry field in the UI and scroll your mouse wheel (holding CTRL for fine adjustment)
In the U.S,, the crosshatch lines should be sloped in the direction of the major flow of traffic. This tip helps me remember when to use chevrons and which way to slope them.

I've created so many Presets for every possible lane configuration. One thing i do to help me with rotation is to always color my most left hand lane with a solid yellow line.
Fantastic, I tried marking tool to detail freeway exits and it looks terrific. So strange its hidden by having to go into transportation to find it.

Two things: in the US, the chevrons always point towards the point, including for merges: mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/services/publications/fhwaop02090/fwymarkings_lgview.htm More importantly, you may have discovered this since making this video, but the paste tool has an "invert" button, which would have allowed you to paste the offramp markings to the onramp markings. HUGE time saver! Hope that helps, and great video!
@YUMBL

Very interesting! I’m seeing conflicting information on the direction of the chevrons, but perhaps there are regional differences in each area’s DOT. Or i’m open to being wrong, but I need to be sure 😂. Thank you very much for watching! I’m learning all the time.

@@mattdeady6448 different areas use different markings. I've seen chevrons in both directions, diagonal lines, even diamond patterns. I think it really depends on what pattern they feel makes more sense in that area.
@YUMBL

The diagonal likes are usually when lanes are passing each other. My understanding is cars go toward where the line is pointing on their side. Like pushing open the swinging door to a saloon :)

1:13 - I’m currently living in Egypt! And I can say yes there is a million intersections not detailed by lane markings… even if there was lane marking the drives of Egypt don’t know what they are 😂😂😂
i would suggest doing with then step instead of step then width cause width also changes the blank space.

Guys in Intersection Marking Tool 1.8.2 i don't have pavement options for my intersections.. i just have "Stripes" - "Grid" - "Solid" and "Chevron" .. i missing Pavement and Grass in option, is there some additional mod/asset which i need to get for that?
I actually learned the pronunciation of "quay" from a gta game. I can't remember if it was III or Vice City, but there was an area in the game called Atlantic Quays, and I always heard Atlantic _Keys_ until I looked at a game map and saw how it was spelled.
04:15 In India we use ladders as well

@@YUMBL Thanks for the reply! You just earned yourself a subscriber. Thanks to you I also just subscribed to the intersection marking tool. I cannot believe I never found that sooner. That and the loading screen mod. So many amazing community workshop items.
Is there an updated guide? I can't do any of the complex things like clipping the line segments so that the markings don't overlap with crosswalks for example. I think the latest version works significantly different and the dev of course provides no guides themselves.
This mod cured my anxiety and depression
The copy paste for the highway part was fine, you just had to mirror it I think
Some of the cool mods I see on internet, does not load into my game. I try to always have all dependencies and all, but is there something I should be checking firstly?
To make the highway intersection even nicer you can offset the highway 2 meters causing the slip road to line up nicer, I decently spend too much hours painting my road with this thing

I have been using this mod for a little while now, but am struggling with one thing. I have been matching colors like you did in the video with the bike lane filler.
