A tractor grill on a generator is a cool feature! Your electrical design and wire routing is perfect x 10. More young people need to get into the trades and learn to do quality work such as this! Thank you!
Appreciate your attention to detail and the precision of your wiring. I've wired up a number of panels and can appreciate what goes into it. Was missing you -- thanks for the video.

It's a godsend for us electricians 🙂 imagine screwing up something in the wire spaghetti
That’s a wonderful piece of American history and I’m glad that it’s being used instead of being scrapped. Thanks for the video.👍

Excellent wire management in that cabinet. Very impressive!
Great job with all your videos. I particularly enjoy these obscure units you work on. Glad to see someone keeping these older machines and their history alive. Well done!
I wish more people took as much pride in their work as you do. Labeling those wires for the next guy, even if the next guy is you again; is the way things should be done. Outstanding work on a VERY interesting generator. IH of the old days is cool.
What a cool old generator. That engine didn’t even sound like it was working at all. Beautiful job on the wiring, what clean neat work…. Thanks for sharing
Damn nice job on that panel. A couple of suggestions for you, don't use those stick on wire holders, I have seen plenty of those things fall off in a few years. For even better wire labels slide a piece of clear heat shrink over them. A lot more work goes into making a panel like that, than most people realize, hope you charged the guy enough.
Your wiring is just a work of art. I wish every control cabinet was wired up like this.
I really like your clean control cabinets. It shows that you take your time and care about future service. Nice work, Mike!!
My grandfather had a Farmall WD 9 tractor. I am positive that had the same engine
Your are a master of detail - Great job
That's a really fun job! You made that control box look like something off the showroom floor! Those wire number sleeves are great. I used to do a lot of retrofits in the Oil/Gas/Power Gen field on industrial gas turbines and those things made life so much easier. Write-on/wrap around labels are PITA! ;)
Good old Made In U.S.A things.. it shows how things should work as the name plate says...where is Made In U.S.A stuff now.. thanks to the dirty politicians for that also greedy company's... Grate work Mike...!!

Amen brother
I've seen those engines in tractors and construction equipment. You can hand crank those if you have to I've done it on a ID9 tractor. To make it easier to hand crank the old timers would switch it back to run on gas before they shut it down to clear any trace of diesel out of the cylinders. they shut the gas off and let it die so there's none left in the carburetor. A lot of antique equipment collectors would love to get their hands on that engine. A good running low hour engine like that is hard to come by.

Thank you from across the pond. The days of quality are over - unless you buy old or pay for it. Gardener diesels powered many lighthouses, etc. and still do. Unfortunately the 'greenies' and cheap inports caused Gardener to close. That generator may be old but those reading this will be long gone before that old lady dies. You did a very nice job, I'd buy you a pint any day.
Great video…from a guy who has done this kind of work for 50 years!
I love your attention to detail
Impressive old set. Sounds like it's at idle even at full load. No wonder the customer wanted it back to full function. Now, if my clean wiring looked like your messy wiring, I'd be happy.
Loved the video, I think the wiring looked very well thought out and nice. Keep up the good work!

Real nice clean build. I didn't know they made modern regulators you could hook to the old gensets. Very cool. Going to give me ideas. 😂
Are you kidding me??? That is the neatest panel box I've ever seen! It's a work of art :) Mine looks like a Radio Shack threw up in an ugly plastic box (but it does work well so I just leave it alone).

Awesome job ,it looks Factory ,your workmanship is brilliant , I've done control panel wiring for years and have nothing but praises for your work, the brass name plates will be the topper for the project
Haha you said sorry about the mess..your wiring is very nice not messy.
I don't know why but I do enjoy your videos. You have a calming way about you and seem very knowledgable . I just like the way you do things Thanks...
I wouldn't say that panel was messy, though I'd definitely call it "busy". We have here a commercially built control panel, and all of the wiring is white - every single wire is plain white. The only way to know what you're looking at is to don your reading glasses and examine those tiny little yellow sleeves, and hope they're not faded, blanched or buckled with age. That's a very nice job you've made there! Then how about that engine? Isn't it a beauty. It sounds absolutely spot on. You can probably get a 15kW generator in a frame on wheels these days, but this will outlive them all

I built industrial controls for 35 years, AC power = black, AC control voltage = red, DC control voltage = blue, ect... as a general rule, you only use multicolored coding for sensors and instruments.
That is to cool . Be nice Gen for up north . Start on gas , warm eng , switch to diesel for making electricity. That is the most awesome thing I've ever seen . Thanks for sharing with us . Wiring is evil . Best left to professionals.
What a cool old Genset. I have seen that engine in some farmall tractors, always thought they were really neat for the time. I also like the low operating speed, don’t have to listen to an engine at high speed. Thanks for sharing your time and videos.

Thanks for checking it out Doug!
great video , I love getting older machines working and used . I find the older stuff lasts longer , built better , and is more serviceable that modern models . I find things are built too cheap and very little quality . The items are not priced very low for what you are getting , considering that even lawn mowers that are 40 years old are still around and running . that says something as to the quality and design of engines . thanks for taking the time .

What a great setup, beautiful job on the box
Very interesting and great job ! Happy Easter Mike ..
Good show !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Instead of getting one of those brass plaque engravers, get a simple vinyl printer (aka cricut- your wife would love having it for crafts) then apply that to your raw brass stock, drip in acid, the acid will remove a thin amount of the exposed brass, and the vinyl will protect what you want to see. Old time look, easy to do and 100% customizable

Thanks for checking it out! I am going to have to look into that!
Nice old genset. I pity the guy who has to maintain it with all the "stuff" around it! My last job of 17 years was building panels of all sizes. We used blue for common, brown for 24v, black for "signals", yellow for AC and red for fire. We used the Panduit Panther LS8 for labeling wires and terminals. Very nice work on the panel! Nice generator upgrade!

Such a nice piece of history still working! Great work.
I cannot believe the oil pressure switch, I would almost guarantee it can't be correct. I would also want some temperature gauge checking. I have seen old IH tractors, MD, with the same sort of start on gas and run on diesel. I know there were UD 9 power units used to power irrigation equipment. Your voltage regulator seems to be perfect.

Actually its probably not far off! I own a Farmall "m", made by International before it was IH, and if the oil is full, 75psi is normal. IH always had high oil pressure, not sure why.
Another great video Mike!! Love older GenSet setups
I had a TD9 crawler that was gas start, diesel-run. The engine looked very much like the UD9.

after a bit of research, I found that the TD9 crawler's engine is in fact the same.
Glad to see your back on the channel was worried something happened.
Getting in to RNG generators with my new job and these videos are great for me with a diesel engine background but not a lot of generator experience and power generation. Great work!
Very nice work on the control panel. Nothing like old American made engines and gen sets. Thank you for your video.
Very neat wiring job Mike! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next project😉😉😉
Very cool! Nice to see the old iron still ready to work, looks sweet with the new box!
The control box looks great
That job was so neatly done. I love it!
Great job Mike!
As a proud owner of a td 9 it is important to run engine on gas before shutting down it makes it easier to start next time and engine block cools down a bit

I was just going to say the same thing. I want to say that I heard the head would have a tendency to potentially crack due to the higher heat even without load. A friend had a Farmall 400 with this setup.

I will look into that. I thought I was told the opposite at one point but don't remember. I have a gen set with a UD16 that I need to get running at some point! Thanks for checking it out!
Very nice work!
Very impressive build!
Wiring looks good. Years ago I did wiring repairs a 30s Ford street rod. The entire car was wired using only black and blue wire. No labels. Yes they used blue for ground circuits also. After that I label everything.
Love the content. Let's get more!!
Gonna give you a 99/100 on the control box. Had to deduct a point for not painting it IH Red.... I still operate a crawler tractor with that engine in it. Love the sound esp when the governor kicks in. lg no neat sig line
Very neat engine! Great job making the panel
Brilliant job love the control box
Beautiful work
Another great video. That engine is very cool. AMERICAN MADE Thanks
Nice job. Runs great!!
Love that wire management, nice and neat
Sweet build!
The "touch and swipe" generation is guaranteed to freeze in the dark with this setup! I hope that you have an agreement with the owner that the gen set will come to you whenever it is no longer needed. That gen set would be a crowd pleaser where ever it is shown! 2 tons for 15Kw! Now that IS the good ole days!

Awesome job! Love that old iron!
Thats some super nice work!
fantastic workmanship mike!
Hope you get the chance to do more like this !!
Brilliant job!
You are correct, the US Army & US Army Air Force purchases a bunch of those gen-sets during WW11. As a matter of fact the USAF was still using them during the Korean War. I was a ground power tech in the USAF between 1951 &1955 and had a lot of WW11 equipment in the Far East. In Japan, we had to use generators for US made equipment because the local power on our USAF bases had local 100V 50Htz power.
You should have passed million follower. long before, hope it will happen soon.
Beautiful workmanship. Thanks for sharing.
wow! you did a great job on that box.

Nice work.
Yet another informative and entertaining video. Thank you and keep them coming!
Good show! 👍👍
Great work on the control panel. Nice generator.
When he says "We are running on gasoline" I got major Apollo 13 Tom Hanks vibes.
Wow, we had an old UD series IH to run our core drilling rig back in the early 70's, they are very unique engines. Your attention to detail is second to none🧰🔌.
Cool video, it is an interesting setup
