Intermittent Fasting Causes Heart Attacks? NEW "STUDY"

A new study has been released from the American Heart Association that says an 8-hour time-restricted eating linked to a 91% higher risk of cardiovascular death. But is that really what the data shows? Will intermittent fasting cause a heart attack?
In today’s video we’re gonna take a look at the study and determine if it is of high or low quality. I think this is a very important skill for everyone to have because a lot of the scientific research out there is fraudulent and funded by industry, and you need to be able to quickly discern what you should pay attention to and what you shouldn’t.
This research is coming from the American Heart Association's Epidemiological & Prevention Lifestyle & Cardiometabolic Health Scientific Sessions 2024. This conference just happened March 18 through the 21st. I have linked the press release and abstract where you can read all about the study itself and how it is conducted below. I've also linked the poster presentation from the conference.

Our ancestors for decades ate this way. What a joke. The food industry really wants to push eating 6 times a day…

Amazingly enough I have been doing carnivore and fasting since last March and when I went for my cardiology appointment this February and was told my heart issues had resolved themselves, though five years ago I was told the problems could only be managed not cured.

I saw it all over the news yesterday and automatically thought it was bull based on the fact that they took two days of food data and then looked at the heart issues for the next 8 years. How can you apply 2 days of data to 8 years???

Love how you break down these studies, Jenny. Many seem shoddily managed yet the lay people just believe the headline. There are not many of us out here who side-eye questionability. As a teacher I’d teach my kids strategies for critical thinking. An important life skill that you have in spades. 👏👏

It’s astounding to me that we take epidemiological data - which at its core is correlations, not causations - and speak as if it’s gospel truth. Since I began carnivore to help treat mastocytosis, my family has been freaked. Add this on - I mean, I’m just not that hungry so I easily go 15-18 hours before eating - and they are convinced a heart attack will take me any moment if anaphylaxis doesn’t. Both my parents and my doctor want me to take more medication in hopes of tolerating vegetables (mastocytosis makes you allergic to to any number of things most people are fine with). Or I can just not eat veggies and skip some heavy duty meds. These studies do not help anyone’s perspective on what for me has proved to be a medically necessary WOE.

The thing that bothered me the most is the way they determined that fasting "causes heart attacks" is not by looking to see how many people actually had heart attacks, but by looking at their cholesterol numbers. So they took a set of epidemiological studies to support a hypothesis based on another set of epidemiological studies. People have been trying to prove the lipid hypotheses for decades and never able to do it. yet it is still held up as if it was unquestionable truth that all subsequent truths can be based on.

Fasting is good for you why? Well for me as a Christian Jesus even fasted... it's Biblical... David would fast for 3 days to 7 days at a time and many people would.... don't forget that video Chris did on the National Geographic channel ~ where he fasted for three days and the health person with him said it's very good for you. Many people fast all over the world for various reasons... so I call that a big fat LIE!!!
