Intense 48 Hours in Beijing China 🇨🇳

48 hours in Beijing, China - one of the Asia's biggest & least understood capital cities. We started this intense two days, and day one, outside of Beijing at the incredible Great Wall of China - a bucket list item for everyone travelling to China. Later on we head back in to the city to explore some of the main sights of Beijing before heading to the infamous 'fake market' and then later, out in to a local area of the city to experience get more of a feel for local life. China and its friendly people have honestly surprised us at every turn so far, which once again has reminded us not to judge a book by its cover and to believe everything you are told 🇨🇳

I was privileged to visit the Great Wall in 2007 with my Dad who was 71 at the time. He still remembers how he got to the top of the Great Wall to this day - under his own steam. He is now 87 and that is a precious memory for me and us.

I know how you feel. We visited in October 2023, 6 cities, and also captured a lot of the journey as well. I was impressed by how much China has progressed and developed since our previous visit in 2011. We also walked the same section of the Great Wall as you. I did not want to leave our last trip and we have plans to visit again later this year. Beautiful country, often feels like you are in a postcard. Beautiful friendly people. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Cheers from Australia.

“If you want to explore the 3000 years of history, go to Xi'an. If you want to explore the 1000 years of history, go to Beijing. If you want to explore the last 100 years of China going from colonization to modernization, go to Shanghai. If you want to see modern blade-runner-like infrastructure and seemingly impossible urban planning done in the last 40 years, go to Chongqin. If you want to see the future, go to Shenzhen. And If add the different landscapes and biomes that China offers, there would be no end to the list.” Have a great time.

In between I visited many other places from northeast to Tibet, central China and Hainan Island. It was great to see you at the Great Wall (been there 7 times at different locations) and also to see my old “second home” - Hongqiao market. We always visited the same shop, and today I have still clothes purchased there. The quality was top level. Even when you went down a residential street it’s spotless! Says a lot of the culture tbh! Lovely video! I’d have to be dragged away from the roses! ❤

Don't underestimate these old houses in Beijing. They are called "hutongs" in Chinese, and are located in the heart of the city. They are protected for their historical value, and a single one could cost millions of dollars. Anyway, I can't afford it.

I don’t know if it’s because my English understanding is so poor, but this video blogger keeps emphasizing “fake”. The so-called “fake” means that the same product has similar appearance and functions, but there is another real product for comparison, but in this video The bloggers have never seen any simulated products in person from beginning to end, and can only verbally say that these are fake. Do "authenticity" and "fakeness" only depend on Westerners' mouths? ! China attaches great importance to intellectual property rights. Most of the things you see, regardless of the size of the company or factory, have their own brands. What you call "fake" should be the result of brainwashing by the Western media! 🙄

Totally agree you should take time to just wander in a new city, get into residential areas, especially a big and famous one. You don't get a flavour for it otherwise. I'd love to explore the Forbidden City, but by going off track this made it a really interesting film with a different perspective.

hope you can really enjoy trip in China. Beijing is really a great and historical city. I lived in Beijing for 4 years in my university life. I could share with you that i have travelled so many cities before my study in Beijing. And finally i chose beijing for my undergraduate degree. I love the first snow in Forbiden City, and have a drink with my friends inWudaokou. It is really a Morden and historical city.

Having met a Beijing lady online back in late 2006 and corresponding for five months she invited me to visit her in March of 07. Her sister also met someone online and we shared an awesome two weeks together in Beijing touring many historical sites one being the Great Wall. This video brings back great memories of the long walk and surrounding scenery. Of course March was much busier with many visitors to the Wall plus those days back then seemed more welcoming to the country. We also took a 12 hour train ride to Xi'an City which is also a must do to put on your bucket list. Would love to go back one day! Ganbei!

The Wall by itself is tiring, but totally agree that the view is one of the amazing in the world. Your video shows the great scenery, but being there and seeing with own eyes is a totally different thing. It is like watching music videos and going to concerts. Lucky, we were there in winter. Cannot imagine people climbing when it is hot. Cheers.

Not to judge a book by its cover and to believe everything you are told. Perfect statement. Here I would like to share my friendly conversation with a young American couple recently. I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US. We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting, But I was surprised of what they told me. They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere, every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason. All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

The same as most Indians people believe nothing is good in China and India is 20 times better than China. If any news or video clip showing positive about China, most Indians will say and believe it is fake news.

Their mou trains are unusual formations like walnut whips. I walked the wall in 99 not many tourists, the steps where at different levels. Which was super dangerous. Remember china was oded to the world for many years before that, and before the bamboo curtain closed tourism was for the super rich Marco polo took noodles and icecream back to Italy. You will also find some areas are different to in cuisne. Some have noodles another rice I visited a hawkers market in xian next to a new supermarket and that definitely was a most interest ng experience
