This seemed like a pretty positive take on it, but I am sure they will be pissy about it. I do think it will come out in October. Like you say it kind of has to at this point. They know that. All this being said, their target audience isn't really us retro folks. And those people don't know about it yet. Can they reach that target audience, very hard to say. I'd say I'm 50 50 on if it will be semi successful. I personally still have some hope for it because I believe the controller will allow for paddle like controls and games to support that. However, it will still be a tough call for me at the current price point. There are odd hate videos out there about this system, but I personally don't think you guys have been that hard on it. Mostly just skeptical and somewhat not interested in it. Maybe your tune will change when it comes out. But I have personally not had an issue with your coverage.

The Amico will play the Monorail song from The Simpsons when you turn it on.

I wonder how much pre-order money they got in the period between being certain this delay was going to happen and the delay being announced the public? I would be surprised if they didn't know for certain that this delay was going to happen 3-4 months ago. The Amico team would have a better idea than the general public where they are in development and pat has been calling this delay for months.

Anytime Tommy uses that stupid "smiley" emoticon, it's just his passive aggressive way of telling someone to go &#%$ themselves.

We saw how Tommy moved the goalposts and redefined "exclusive". Maybe he should just redefine the word "launch" and then he can say he launched on time. Or maybe "Yeah, we made our October 2020 launch window... for large values of October. You see we launched on October 395th, 2020. So just a little later than we promised".

With every update, the Amiico loses reason to exist. It’s basically down to Earthworm Jim and nothing else. I’ll snag one if it goes to $100 just because I like weird stuff, but the asking price is insane at this point (not that it wasn’t before but still)

I loved Earthworm Jim like everyone 25 years ago but there's no way a new game in the serie could be any good... it's a product of the early 90s... that's like making a new Home Alone movie or something.

@@KevenLC Well this gen did brought back older IPs like Sonic Mania, Mega Man, Crash, Spyro, Streets of Rage, Panzer Dragoon, and Wonder Boy and those were great. Last gen brought back Kid Icarus, DuckTales, Fatal Frame, Abe's Oddysee, and Killer Instinct and those were great too. The gen before that brought back NiGHTS, Klonoa, Rayman, Rocket Knight, and Blaster Master and those were great too so you'll never know, it depends on the dev and how they'll handle it and since this new Earthworm Jim is going to be handle by the original Shiny dev I doubt it'll be anything less than decent.

$250-300?! No way. Maybe $100-150 MAX I’d pick it up. I do like their mission with this console though. To promote couch co-op since much of that has been lost with online multiplayer. Now I just have to find someone who’s willing to come over and play with me... lol

Tommy is just a used car salesman. Everything you point out is _actually_ _not_ _a_ _problem_ and yatta yatta just give me the money. Once you take a step back, and take a big whiff, you start to understand whats really happening, or not happening. And a big no offense to used car sales people, there are some good ones.

Lol my comment on the other video was tongue in cheek, I figured that Tommy would of deleted the comment had I been more blunt lol. The main point though is this controller is suppose to be the difference maker, yet we still have not seen up close the controller in action showing why people should be *excited* to use it.

Maybe someone else mentioned this already. But are they really making games exclusive by changing the names? Is that the strategy?

I feel like the Evercade is going to be the only "neo retro" console that actually lives up to expectations if these guys were so keen on reviving the Intellivision brand, they should have just invested in all these "exclusive" remakes of classic games from the system and made a multiplatform compilation of them and I imagine they would have made significantly more money then however this project ends

I'd have gladly bought that, I still think a lot of the remakes of classic intellivision games they're making for Amiico look really cool, I'm just less and less excited about the idea of plunking down the money to play them

The real question is not,will it come out this year,but will anyone care? This thing will be just another passing ship in a sea full of them. It seemed like an amusing idea,I still have 3 Intellivisions and fool around with them now and again,but really,who was asking for this?

@@Allen.Christian I agree with you. If they had actually done something like a mini Int that would have been just charming enough to get. For like the price of an NES mini with nearly every INT game on it,that would have been something. But this is just weird.

When they announced the delay again to October I immediately canceled my pe-order.... besides this thing keeps looking more and more pathetic... it’s just an extremely underpowered android device... meh, I’m done...

Ok, they couldn't get 4 controllers together...fine. They couldn't get 2, or even 1? Surely they have to have at least 1 controller to be able to develop their game with it in mind? Just one controller to show what can be done with its unique features, how is that so hard when the thing is coming out in less than a year? Eventually I think they're going to announce that you can use other controllers with this thing in order to attract more interest from indie devs who may not have the time or resources to work with the new controller. The controller will end up being its biggest impediment, and the console will get a bunch of straight ports with no, or basic, support for it (like the disc being used as a D pad).

They had a safe harbour thread on AA for criticism of the Amico, it got locked because of "Trolls". People pointing out this is terrible product thats out of touch with the market, highlighting multiple missed release dates and weasel words etc is trolling now according to AA admins. It's a shame really because AA used to have a very good BS detector and could see a snakeoil saleman coming a mile off. Them all fawning over papa Tom is so cringy i stopped going on there.

The disc does NOT spin(possible edit...maybe...edit...it spins but it is NOT a spinner controller). It will most likely use the touchscreen to control the game and thus will be non-optimal or in terms of Mattel/Mattel ”homage” controllers...perfect for frustration & low scores.

The disc spins but play regular games will be difficult because it's easy to spin the disc instead of going up, down, left, or right.

@@ezg2000 I think it is hard to say how the controller will work until some folks give it a try. It could be interesting if it does work for certain games. One area we are missing in consoles nowadays are precise unique controls. Could this work out? maybe. But until people actually get their hands on it it's hard to say negative or positive.

He asked about putting a “knob” on the disc to play spinner games & TT said it wouldn’t work because contact from pushing in the disc needs to happen.

As someone who grew up watching Tommy on Electric Playground, and was happy to see him go on to success with his live concerts, it's a bit heartbreaking to see this happen. Whatever the truth is behind the scenes, it's clear that things aren't working out, to say the least.

If either this or the Polymega comes out this year it'll be a FRICKIN' MIRACLE.

I do love how the first 3 comments on this video are all hate comments directed towards pat and ian. Like holy hell, that's fast. I seriously find it absolutely bizarre that tommy and this thing have garnered even a tiny tiny little following that's so dedicated to it that they just desperately hit refresh on this channel until a new video comes out so they can hate comment on it.

Well they say all systems are created equal! But you look at Amiico and you look at Nintendo Switch and that statement is obviously not true! And if you add XBox Series X to the mix, Amiico's chances of winnin... drastic go down!

It is not delayed, it is just the LAG doing that. My guess is that the controller is not working as expected. There are design flaws and the lag is unacceptable. As a software developer I know how long it takes to make software, drivers and hardware. The delayed is nothing unexpected for this kind of huge project with this small team.

December 2021 here. The answer is "No."

I still fail to see where this is marketed? There is very little this thing has going for it. It's marketed as a family friendly console, which literally any console can be "family friendly" if you don't buy M rated games for it. It's price tag is still in the too much for way too little, considering the portable nature of the Switch at a comparable price point. It has fancy controllers, so did the Wii U, and look how well that sold. This reminds me way too much of the Stadia, just with less funding. A system that relies too heavily on it's gimmicks, with a questionable at best market. The only console that ever sold well on the nature of it's gimmick was the Wii, but that had the Nintendo IP, super ease of use, and a very attractive price point. This is a fail right out of the gate, but Tommy's ego won't let it fail, and the cult keeps feeding into it.

The Amico was already going to be a poor value in 2020 when you could (pre-COVID sellout of all game consoles) buy a brand new Xbox One S (complete with UHD drive) and two controllers for $250. Those bundles included a bunch of free downloadable games (worth WAY more than the 6 pack-in minigames of the Amico) plus a Game Pass subscription trial (hundreds of on-demand games to try). By the time Amico launches (maybe) in October, the brand-new Xbox Series S will probably be $250 and there's many a KZread video on how you can turn one legally and easily into the ultimate retro gaming machine for those "thrifty" parents who don't want to pay for AAA titles.

March 27th 2022 and well nothin yet.....

July 2022 and it’s all over

For all the hater talk, Pat and Ian gave the Amico lots of second chances and were quite generous with the chances of this thing coming out. Knowing what we know now, Tommy was bonkers for ever starting shit with them when he knew in his hearts of hearts they were both right and giving much higher odds of it releasing on his fake made up release dates.

I get rooting for an underdog, but people honestly thinking this will sell well are delusional.

Hardware will need to be ready by July, but as long as there's software updates, they can push it to the last minute. Trust me, there's a reason why physical game releases need day one updates.

The Amico has 2gb of RAM and uses Android as an OS. But maybe they close always all tasks in the Background... To optimize it. According to the Web and my daily use of Smartphones: "The optimal RAM needed for Android is 4GB If you use multiple apps everyday, your RAM usage won't hit much more than 2.5-3.5GB. This means that a smartphone with 4GB RAM will give you all the room in the world for quickly opening your favourite apps."

2 years later and this console still isn't released and seems to be quietly canceled with no fanfare. Kinda sad

Can’t believe this could even eventually come out. The price point is ridiculous. The games are basic. Who is their target audience? It would need to be under 100for me to even consider picking one up
