Intelligence agent Alexander Bortnikov a candidate to replace Putin in possible Moscow coup
Associate Professor Russian Strategic Policy expert at Curtin University Alexey Muraviev has told Sky News Vladimir Putin could be ousted from power if the country's war against Ukraine continues to drag on.
The comments come as there is growing speculation Putin could be the victim of a coup as Russian elites become increasingly concerned about the conflict with their neighbour.
The candidate to replace Putin is Alexander Bortnikov, the Russian director of the Federal Security Service.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the pair had a falling out over the bloody and devastating war.

I mean another KGB agent wouldn't be any better. This way they'll have to select their third choice and it's likely they'll be even less accepted by the populace there, plus if the coup fails, everyone, including putin, is weakened politically and militarily. The KGB won't trust putin and vis versa, that's basically half the power in russia divided... Hit them from all battlefields

Russia is not playing ball with western energy interests. Look at Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Libya, as examples of what happens to countries who defy the western oil/banking cartels.

Not going to happen. Whether the Western media likes it or not Putin is very popular in Russia and even popular in the Russian speaking parts of the Ukraine. It's good for the world that there is still countries standing against groups like the EU and WEF.

Putin seems to be fairly popular among the population although it's not known how popular he is among the ruling oligarchs and that's what matters. I don't believe it's got to a stage where they're ready to overthrow him though. That may come if he fails to make some decent gains in the next3/4 weeks but it looks unlikely.
