People who foster for any length of time saw just how much reality went into this movie. It caught slices of what it’s like from all sides. Great, great movie.

I worked at a school that was mostly foster kids. When you work with kids who have troubled lives, you make very special bonds. It was so sad how many kids would tell me or another teacher “I wish you were my mom/dad.” I would cry all the time because if I had the financial stability I would have LOVED to adopt them. They just desperately wanted adults who would truly love and care about them. As teachers we did love them but it’s not the same 💔

Just got home from watching this at the movies. Best movie ever. My favorite part of it was the character Lizzy showing how being separated from a parent does affect you as well as foster care and going from home to home affected her self esteem. She didn't find much worth in herself and honestly the scene where she runs off after finding out her mom was using again right when they were supposed to go back to where she felt was home and her foster parents followed and it was like the more they tried to tell her they loved her the more it hurt. Oh gosh I felt that

The foster dad: “She called me dad” The foster mom: “I want some of that, honey do you need help” The girl: “Nope”

i really love all the caseworker scenes. my fave part is when Wahlberg's character was worried what would people think about him, a white man, adopting latino kids.

Julissa Ashley i felt bad because i told my husband shes the dumb grandma (i dont wanna spoil but basically she was being fake and when the parents were having doubts she was like thankgod youre not adopting) but basically in the part of the movie where shit hits the fan the mom tells the lady that adopted that in the bad times she goes back to remeber the moments that make everything worth going through ❤❤❤❤❤

@@FlowerEmblem Its funny when you think of it on a wider scale. The pic part is wrong but its their reaction and him saying "she should never be naked". Think about it how will she have to shower with clothes on. Its joke that causes you to think outside of the box. once you do it becomes funny

I realized this movie didn’t come out too long ago, and I really would like to see it.

A customer asked me what i did over the weekend and i told him i watched instant family and he went on a rant how basically if you get foster kids or adopt kids youre basically raising criminals and that if he were to investigate the parents to fiND OUT WHY THE PARENTS GAVE UP THE KIDS like what did the children do that made them give up the kids and im just like excuse me if children are in foster care it isnt the kids fault if i were to adopt i dont give 2 shits who the parents were i care to know what the children went through and who they were and my goal is to give them love and my best attempt at giving them a loving family and i dont know what was wrong with this OLD ASS GUY that said that he had his kids when he was 17 and that he brought them to the us when they were little and they ended up hanging out with the wrong crowd and he tried raising them the best they could and they still ended up robbing stores and shit and i just said you know what if kids in the system end criminals it will not be blamed on the system, if your kids ended up like that well god knows the attention and love and actual raising that is thats on you and your parenting but if i adopt kids or have my kids and if it is already written in the stars that they are criminals its gonna happen regardless if they have my blood or not. God that ignorant way of thinking ruined my day.

They are teenagers they watch people play video games on youtube. *whats wrong with that*

Good morning Julia.

So, from the day that I learned where babies come from, I’ve known that I don’t want to physically be pregnant/have children that way. I’m a woman, so, that would probably be a painful experience. So, since 5th grade health class, I’ve known that I have ZERO interest in physically having children. This movie made me realize that foster care adoption is EXACTLY what I want. Someday, I’d LOVE to open my home to foster children like this and to eventually adopt them as my own. Again, my reasoning is not about being a good person and helping foster kids. My reasoning is that pregnancy isn’t always comfortable and childbirth usually hurts like hell.
