installing Whynter ARC-14SH duct work portable AC

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A pain to install but this air conditioner works VERY WELL.. i can finally finish the last room in my house that I have been avoiding for about a year. They sell it a little cheaper without the heater. It was 93 F outside 57% humidity / 88 F inside that room / in 1 hour it was 74 F / 2 hours 70 F
the one I bought: amzn.to/3PMRa9l

Collapse the hoses rather than have them hang out in the room and push the unit as close to the window as possible. Looks a lot better and works better as one of the hoses radiates heat and the shorter and thicker the better to reduce the radiant heat. I also have a thermal reflective fabric sewn around mine. Makes a big difference. Just take an oblong piece of thermal reflective fabric (usually used for potholders and heat pads etc in the kitchen but you can buy it by the yard) and fold in half, sew along the edge and then slide on the hose.

have got 2 tips for anyone with this AC or other 2 hose whynter AC, the air filter carbon activated filter, just buy any carbon activated filter, cut to size, and while the AC is on attach it to the outside of the AC, where you see the filter mesh is, and the suction should keep it there!!! 2nd tip, don't buy hose insulator, get a bath towel, wet the towel a lil bit, then drape it over the exhaust hose side and you got an instant hose cooler, enjoy!!!!

Hey Chris. Good stuff. Yeah, why not just buy a window unit. But I guess it's good to move from room to room. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁

Does anyone have tips on how to remove exhaust hose *adapter piece* (from the window panel piece that you screw counter-clockwise into hose? What a pain getting both exhaust hoses secure on AC unit & window panel. Losing patience.

I’m trying to figure out why would you need it to suck in hot and humid air from outside instead of just sucking cooler air from inside? Why the two separate hoses? I get the exhaust but I’m so confused on the other.

You might need this option for many reason, most of which are unfortunate. I for instance have unfriendly neighbors that would not be happy about a window unit sticking towards their house that close, nor could I even get on the side of the house to secure it properly… also all the other windows in the place are crank windows😢

I hate that the Intake and Exhaust vents are so close, its like the cold air will suck all the hot air back into the unit. :(

it doesn’t suck hot air back in.. that is a fresh air vent and doesn’t even have to be hooked up

@@chriscraft2 yes it does matter. You MUST use the intake hose as well or it will create a negative vacuum and pull hot air into the room to equalize it, thereby defeating the purpose of the ac and not getting its full cold air potential. Always use both hoses unless you have the Whynter that heats. Then you can use only the exhaust hose while using it as a heater.

@@ltstupNegative. You only use the intake hose if you’re using the fan only mode or the dehumidifier mode. Says that in the book.

Why... because a window unit to cool a room this one cools would weigh just a little shy of an elephant and lifting it would cause back pain and hemoroid flair up... LOL. Plus have you ever lost one out the window because it was so darn heavy and it just got away from you? Not a pleasant convo to have with the wife!
