A great how-to video with no distracting music! Yes! I’m about to buy this horn, and I’ll show the mechanic this video!
By far the most clear explanation and the most simple process. I've actually watched several videos in which the owner insists on removing the entire front bumper.
Stellar instructions!
I installed ours today. It was a bit of a pain in the butt to get my arm into the space. But, pretty straight forward otherwise. And, the horn is exponentially better than Mazda's "meep meep" horn. THANKS for a great product and good install notes.

Glad you got it installed OK. And yes, it's a pain especially if you have large arms. Enjoy your Miata!
Just purchased it for my NB today. Less than a week of owning it and this is my first mod, a must have! Massholes are crazy!

Watch them jump when you give them a dose of this horn, lol
Thanks for posting this. I was replacing a broken nautilus, so didn't need a full kit. But seeing the steps in detail helped me figure things out when I had an issue.

Thank you. I'm going to order one with a battery disconnect. I tried this with a different horn replacement and I had to re-install my meek little squeak of a horn.
I just ordered for my 2015 NC. Can't wait. It is a potential lifesaver from that cheesy stock horn! Thank you.

@@3rdMillennium FYI Guys. Saturday morning project. Took me 30 minutes tops. Super easy. Although I used a mini drill with an 8mm socket to get the under pan screws off. Zip-zip off! Also drove the car on a sloped curb, before having to get my jack out. Easy access! 3rd Millennium supplies everything. Right down to the 20amp fuse! I do feel more secure with a big boy horn. Sounds just like the video. Very happy! Thanks!

KILLER-DILLER! Thanks for sharing this! I've got 2 horns I want to ADD to the one there. I think a 20 amp fuse should be OK.

To run this Marco horn with some additional horns, I think you'll find that you will need to install a separate relay and fuse. The current Miata relay is 20 amps and the Marco horn by itself is probably drawing around 15? If you order from us include a note and we'll be glad to send you a relay and socket for that extra wiring.
I purchased one of your battery disconnects, and I had constant issues with it. For over a year at least once a week I would go out to start my car and there wouldn't be any power and I would pop the hood and twist or wiggle the disconnect and I would get power. So after trying everything I could think of to keep it tight I gave up and removed it. No more power loss issues.

Its operation is a simple mechanical make/break, so there isn't much to go wrong with the disconnect unless the insulator that separates the halves gets damaged somehow. We've sold hundreds over the years without any issues although we have had some users with problems that were in the vehicle's crimp-on negative lead clamp being intermittent. But there's a 1-year warranty on everything we sell so if you've ruled out any other issues, use the contact form on our site to request an RMA.
Great product! However, the screw that came in the packaging didn’t fit when I tried to attach the horn to the car. (I have a 09) I was down there for so long until I decided to see if the screw would fit on its own & it didn’t. Had to improvise but I love the sound.

Hi Richard. Please drop us a note at our main website as we'd like to find out why that mounting bolt didn't fit. While there might have been a packaging error (and if so, we apologize), it would be the first time we've heard of an NC that mounts with something other than the included 6x20 mm bolt.
i have an 06NC and i’ve been looking for a plug and play option where i don’t need a compressor/tank (too much weight) i’ll be ordering today. thank you.

Hi Quick question , If your putting a bigger fuse in the system does that not mean you should really be relaying the system and not using the original wiring that might not be up to the job of the bigger amp draw of the new horn Genuine question
@3rdMillennium
Жыл бұрын
All the Miata's shipped with a factory 20-amp relay for the horn circuit. And because horn use is so intermittent and just for a few seconds, the wiring gauge isn't a problem. If it was continuous current draw, then it would be an issue.
I have an 08. Is that a standard gril on your 12 or aftermarket??

While the printed instructions (with pictures) included with the horn kit include the 4th gen Miata, we will make a video when we get a customer loaner car for a day or two when we're recording.

If you just pull the fuse, would that have negated the need to disconnect the battery?
@3rdMillennium

If you were absolutely sure you were pulling the right fuse, then yes. But if you disconnect the battery you don't have to worry about potentially making a mistake with fuses.

Don't do it. Mine melted down the first time the alarms went off. And put off this ungodly smell. Maybe it's a freak thing. But ive been in the Automotive business for years, and never seen a horn melt down like this before.
@3rdMillennium
Жыл бұрын
Doesn't sound related. If you noticed some sort of electrical smell, that would indicate a short in the windings / brushes of the horn - there isn't anything else in there. The horn circuit isn't connected to the alarm system and is protected by its own fuse and relay. We've probably sold 500+ of these kits and this is the first I've heard of one shorting out internally. Sounds like it could just be a defective unit - not sure when you purchased it but connect to us on our website and we'll check warranty status for you. Marco is pretty good about standing behind their products.
Great video - my only problem is I want to see how the h*ll you got your hand in there to tighten that bolt! I've been contorting myself for half an hour and can't get the damn thing threaded into the bracket. GRRRRRR.

Are you using an extension on the socket? And if you need more room for your arms, remove another screw or two from the splash pan. That will let you pull it down a bit more.

@@3rdMillennium thanks for the reply! I did eventually get it done. Instead, I tightened the bracket by itself, then slid the horn onto the other pre-installed bolt and used a box wrench to tighten it blind on the backside. The horn sounds GREAT!
