Installing S1 clutch locking plates on a Honda CRV / Element Rear Diff

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this episode, I installed S1 Clutch locking plates into a Honda CRV / Element differential. I believe this to be a 07-11 diff but I'm not sure.

    Looks like its an 07+ crv rear differential. I remember reading that those have a spring to help the rear differential to activate faster.

    Always love the content, super appreciate the struggle. So many other KZread videos, just like poof and it's installed. Or..or the one handed clip removal... so many times... two hands sometimes a screwdriver... and you still break the stupid clip.

    Hey bro, I just got a po730 gear ratio code on my rd1 cr-v. My most recent mod was a upgraded differential from a 2009 or 2011 crv. This was about a week ago. After the swap my V was driving great. It was hooking beter than it ever did. Now it's kind of stuttering to shift and jumping. All this started today with code. Do you have any ideas on what it might be or something I should try? Really appreciate any help or advice. My V is automatic btw.

    I bought it almost a year ago. With 200,000 miles. I put new fluid in it a little bit after I got it. Was struggling to shift gears before. After I swapped out the fluid ran great, until now.

    There are so many FWD RD1's I see driving around but not so many AWD's. When I'm at the salvage yard and I see AWD differentials I think about snatching them up but I don't know what all I would need to convert a FWD, if its cost effective, or if I really want to get into that. I just hate knowing they are going to get smashed. My RD1 was supposed to get me to the range and back, now I've fallen down the Honda rabbit hole and all I want is more Honda's.

  • @hondaresource

    @hondaresource

    Жыл бұрын

    Rd1 doesn't have a viscous. The rear had a clutch pack, now you eliminated that. The viscous allows some slip when turning and compensates for difference in gear ratios.
