👁 About this video : The install for this is intimidating because you are not going back to stock, but working through it step by step, it was easy. It's not a hard project to do, but very time consuming and you have to be perfect on the cut. Removing the stock bumper is not hard, it took about 10/15 minutes. Switching over the wiring to the new bumper is straight forward. After that we spent about 4 hours measuring, cutting and getting everything prepared for the bumper. This has to be perfectly level and straight so by following our method you should be good. Then it was time to install the new bumper and get it bolted in. I will be adding some wire to the harness to extend it, just using similar gauge wire or larger will work and that shouldn't be too hard to do.

    Lots of vids on Tacoma upgrades. Downside is adding lots of extra weight reducing mpg and slowing it down. Not to mention adding massive tires that's not recommended by Toyota. Then people complain(not you) that Tacoma is under powered. My mostly stock SR v6 is plenty fast. I've taken it over several mountain passes to go skiing and some off roading and never felt it was under powered. Use it for what it was intended and it has plenty of power. Don't get me wrong I did add A/T tires. Tires that are recommended size and some minor aesthetic trim pieces. When adding larger tires it effects power because the rear gearing won't match the tire size.

  • @BrosFOURRSpeed

    @BrosFOURRSpeed

    4 жыл бұрын

    That's all true, but I don't really care about the mpg as much and I haven't noticed it being underpowered with the larger tires so I don't know why people complain about that. I don't use this as a sportscar so I don't notice lack of power! I might be going up another size this year, but looking to regear the truck and see how that helps!

    So I would in the future try and cut the plug back a little bit so just in case you ever need to use that as a repair pigtail. Also might want to upgrade your head shrink or get you a heat gun to try and help seal that heat shrink better. The way it looked that is a good place for water to get in and rust your connection up. As much as I like the bumper I don't think I could ever cut my truck up.

    One thing to consider is the weight you are adding is rear of the axle which is why people only recommend you minimize the weight of objects in your rear. Lol. Also, remember the next mods you will do are adding a dual tire swing out as that will house your tire and possible Jerry cans. As doing a high clearance bumper and keeping the tire underneath is kids pointless. Nice vid and strong work.

    I do have upgraded add a leafs which help with the weight, but I only added about 70lbs which is really insignificant I think. The blind spot wasn't available on 2017's and I didn't get the tech package to have the sensors. Didn't need or want them. They make this bumper to accommodate the backup sensors! It will have cutouts for you to install them into this one! The blind spot is integrated into the tail light I believe or side mirrors so that shouldn't be an issue.
