I bought the last set of 444 11" shocks from meancycle for my 2022 Scout Rogue and your video made the installation easy! My Rogue rides like a completely different bike! It is so much smoother over bumps and the stance feels tighter. Despite adjusting mine, it was so hard on my back with the stock shocks. I appreciate you!

I have a bobber and I'm debating whether to just go with 11s or whether I should look for 11.5s. It seems 11s are more common. You don't regret the shorter stroke?

Yeah - it's a fun platform!

I added a set of adjustable Arlen Ness shocks on the rear but, i also put a set of progressive springs in the front with 20w oil. My feeling is that the springs in the front, the rear works even better. Just my opinion.

dadwithabike thank you. One more question. For the most part I’m a solo rider about 150-152 pounds. So what should I get? The standard or heavy duty? If I get the heavy, will that cause any issues?

I love the look of the scout bobber but a lot of the reviews have the general consensus that the rear suspension and seat need to be upgraded for a comfortable ride. My question is do you think the added cost is worth putting into the scout bobber vs buying a more expensive bike that doesn’t need that?

That - is a dang good question. So let's look at the numbers and a little it of detail. So the Indian Scout platform is a mid-sized cruiser that is liquid cooled. I wanted to stay away from the standard "air cooled" cruisers and really wanted a classic platform when I moved into the cruiser family. The Indian Scout Bobber with ABS comes in at $13,000. When you add a seat ($250 for the comfort or for a saddlemen) and shocks ($650 for Progressive 444s) you are raising up the price to .. let's say $15K (to cover taxes you'd pay for mods, etc.). You are still about $4k less than if you picked up the next bike in the lineup which would be a Springfield (about $19K) - and you are loosing the performance that the Scout has to offer (one of it's advantages). To get a bike that offers LOTS of comfort and LOTS of power you would need to step up to the Challenger (base is $22K). So I think, if you like the bobber - it's a minimum investment to make it the bike you want. Now, I can say that my next bike WILL BE the Challenger because I want a longer riding, more comfortable bike in about ... 4 years or so. Hope this helps!

Probably not. I haven't reached their limit and I ride pretty hard. So far they stand up well for me.

Thanks for this! How did you manage to undo the bolt on the pipe side ? my exhaust comes in the way. I see you had the same conundrum as well.

I believe I played with lowering the bike so that the swing arm cleared the exhaust enough for me to get the bolt undone.

@@dadwithabike , i ended up doing the same. I wasn't able to torque the lower bolt. Just hand tightened it. In hindsight, i could've when it was lifted on the jack but i suspect i'd have struggles aligning the upper bolt to the hole with the lower one torqued and not allowing any play.

What seat is on your bike? I bought the comfort seat and the 1920 solo seat. Not really happy with either. I’m having a tough time with the hard ride and trying to find the sweet spot.

Have someone apply pressure to the rear and the bolts will line up perfectly when installing.

I JUST bought my 2021 scout bobber and I plan to replace my suspension as well. Would these work as well for a guy at ~290 (depending on how much pizza I've had)?

So you torqued the bolts to 55 foot pounds? Do you need to put any loctite on the threads of the bolts?

It's not necessary but if you want to just use blue loctite

Is this 12inch HD spring? I'm 220lb. Will HD 11in work? 12inch are always out of stock.

@@dadwithabike I had an hour on the bike. I was hoping it wasn't as fun to ride as the Yammie MTs. It is just as fun. I am completely smitten with it. Come late Jan start of Feb and I will buy it. There are tons of bikes that are better, more gear for your buck but they don't put a smile on my face like this one does.

How the hell did you get both top shoulder sleeves in? One side seems slightly smaller in diameter then the other side and I am having ZERO luck getting it in

I actually lined up the bolts and used the act of bolting the suspension on to push the sleeves through

5:09 put the sleeve in the freezer before installing & use some lube... it will go right in!! =)

What length did you purchase? Are they the standard or HD?

Would the 11’s work as well? I thought that’s what came on the stock shocks. Great vids BTW! Haven’t owned a bike in over 20 years and your vids are a tremendous help!

I called progressive and they said 12 inches work best for shock dampening. Any reason why you didn’t get the 12 inches version?

@@tussauds88 only because I measure myself. I wanted to avoid any height increase. But that's it. 12 would be just fine.

@@dadwithabike Thank you. Between the seat I ordered and changing the shocks, I am hoping I can ride longer and not look forward to stopping at red lights so I can give my butt a rest. The AirHawk seat cover helps but does not fix the problem.

What length progressives did you go with? Factory 11” or longer?

I adjusted them to set my sag properly - that's all. They are super easy to adjust, no tools required

I know the 440s are gas charged...

Yeah, you can still find the 440 but I don't think progressive makes those anymore

Nice wasted money on new suspension. Just go to indian shop, they can adjust the spring to what ever you want

That is incorrect. I've already had my sag done and I still exceeded. That is why I moved to the Progressive 444s.
