Installing Neck Latex Seal to the Drysuit

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Tutorial video showing how to replace the drysuit neck seal.
Notes: The presentation is done on the Otter drysuit, where the neck seal is installed initially on the outer side. Then, over the neck seal, the neoprene collar is glued. This is making the replacement pretty tedious, since before replacing the seal, the neoprene collar should be removed and after the replacement, should be glued again.
So I recommend installing the neck seal on the inner side of the suit, which allows easier servicing in the future.

Have you tried this technique with a neoprene neck seal? Last time I stuck something to a neo seal it tore.

Have you ever converted a "semi" dry suit's neoprene neck gasket to a latex neck gasket? Is the process similar to putting a new latex gasket on any old regular dry suit?

It depends how neck opening looks like. But if it’s flat and have enough place to accommodate the skirt of the latex seal - it’s doable and the procedure would be the same

I’ve got some questions after seeing this video, let’s see if you can help me. :) 1- which sizes did you cut the wooden rings? 2- it looked pretty easy to remove the broken seal... I guess it’s not aquaseal, right!? Any tips on how to remove remaining aquaseal from the suit? 3- which glue do you use? Does ir works with neoprene and latex? I guess you don’t like aquaseal right?! 4- where can I find this roller? Tks for all this videos! ;)

    1. The outer radius of the ring is 13cm, the width of the ring is 4cm 2. Usually the Aquaseal is not used to glue the seals, only to provide extra sealing. To remove the old seal it can be a tough task, it’s not going always easy. I’m trying to to stretch the old seal in place there it attached to the suit. Sometimes it works smoothly, sometimes not. Then I try to use a heat gun. If it not helps, use try to pill it piece by piece. 3. It’s sc4000 of Rema Tip Top. Works with almost everything I’ve tried. The roller you can easily find in Amazon

@@DrySuitProjects awesome!! Thank you very much for the reply!! Any idea why does DUI use aquaseal for building the drysuit?

Its not really the Aquaseal, but some similar PU sealer. Its a technology choice of them, they are not the only one used this way to seal the seams.
