Great video. I added a Honeywell Wi-Fi thermostat to mine and am so glad I did. No more getting up early to go to the shop in the morning and warm it up. House I purchased had amazon echo and connects with it.

anybody else have the same unit and find the orange power light is dim over time?

Do you run this HEATER continually in your shop to maintain heat. Also thermostat to regulate Temp.

Currently I am not running this heater continually to maintain heat. It is also not on an external thermostat. To maintain heat in this garage I'd have to run this heater alot. I actually have a video coming Friday which will be my review for this heater. Stay tuned. Thank you for watching!

I likely will. I want to wait and see how the heater does when it gets really cold first. With the size of my garage I might have to upgrade next fall.

@northernoutlier OK, keep us updated. I got a honeywell heat only stat with a 2 wire set up. Conected it to 1 and 2 and it doesn't seem to kick the heater on. I'm wondering if I need a dynaglow stat only.

How do i know if it's 2 phases or not? the specifications in my dyna glo eg5000dgp says its 1 phase for all the wattage settings but looks like you have the exact same heater.

The only way I can explain it is that the heater is 240v, therefore you need a two pole breaker in order for it to pull 240v. Hooking up the two pole breaker, it's pulling 120v off each spot it's plugged into. just finished up - having an issue. for whatever reason the power light comes on when the unit is off and when i turn the fan on, the power light turns off...only thing i'm considering is buying a new breaker as i'm using an older one i had kicking around. any input appreciated, thanks again for the video@@northernoutlier

Hmm interesting. Well when the unit is off but power is going to the unit there should be an orange light on. When you turn it on though and it goes off...I'm wondering if it's not getting enough power maybe. Your using a 30amp two pole breaker? Your wire is 10-2? If your breaker was pooched I feel like the unit wouldn't get any power.

@@elikabak7044 Hmm that's odd. So when you turn the knob to power on it loses power. Does the breaker trip? Check all your wiring. Grounds connected and hot wires connected to breaker and the heater. Also check the switch on the back which is for the thermostat. Make sure that's not set to external. Not sure what that could be.

WARNING! I installed one last winter. Half of the heater elements failed in less than a year but because I was over a year since actually purchasing the unit there was no warranty. You CANNOT purchase replacement elements, even though it would be a simple fix. This heater is sold under multiple brands with small changes to the control interface. None of them list the spare parts as available. SO basically if something fails you will not likely be able to get it fixed if out of the 1 yr warranty. Very shady dealings. Two thumbs DOWN!

Thanks for the comment. I figured paying only 170 bucks wasn't getting me much. It's crazy that you can't get replacement parts for a heater which is sold under so many names. I just did a review video on this heater. I have noticed as of late that it does not seem to be as hot as before, maybe the element. Anyways I am going to be switching it out for next winter, probably going up to a 7500, or 10000 watt heater. Any suggestions on a good heater? I was looking at the King Electric ones. Thoughts? Also thanks for watching.
