Installing D.I.D VX3 525 Chain on the Z900RS
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Watch me struggle putting on a new D.I.D VX3 525 chain on my z900rs. Chain was purchased from Amazon. I had to remove a few links from the chain prior to installing. Note the stock pitch on the z900rs is 525 so if you are keeping the stock sprockets make sure you purchase a 525 chain 120 links.

Thanks for watching
Tools I’d recommend
Chain press tool-for removal and pressing on master link
Angle grinder-for grinding down did chain to remove links

Need to also flare out those rivets to stop them coming out again on that master link. Not sure if your tool has it or not, loads of videos to show you how to do it. Others have used like a punch & a hammer but I wouldn't recomend it lol

@@EverydayCarLife its a little bracket that slides over the shift shaft, 2 bolts, takes all the slack/slop out of the motion and gives a solid shift feel even if you boot it
how much milimeters u have betvene plates and instaled one? my is originaly 19.2mm and conection link plates are 19.00mm i hope its not too much
I installed a new chain maybe 13-14 months ago. You want the DID chain with 114 links, not 120. No chain rust if it kept greased.

114 would be way too short for the z900rs

@@EverydayCarLife the service manual says it's a 525 114 link chain...

If you look at the chain adjustment screws towards the end of the video you appear not to have a lot of adjustment left after fitting the chain. It would suggest that 114 links is correct.
SWAPPING OUT your chain after ONLY 3,000 miles!!?? You might take care of your bike, but not your chain! LOL. I have over 27,000 miles on my OEM chain & sprockets on my '21 V-Strom 650XT Adventure. Showing little signs of wear because I clean & lube it every 600-700 miles. 😉

The oem chains on this bike are garbage, quite a few people have had rusting issues with the oem chain. I did the same maintenance on the chain and still had issues, since changing the chain I havnt had to adjust it every 1k miles either. Huge upgrade over the oem chain
