Love your MINI! Awesome mods you did on it. I put purple Powerflex bushes on my R56 a few months ago. That really transformed the handling as well. Definetly the best upgrade i did!

Strongly recommend you install a set of strut defenders on the R53. Prevents/minimize any mushrooming of the strut towers.

I have the same R53 as you, same colour as well ... I do all my own mechanics and went for the same as you 17% pulley, also did the light weight crank pulley, and big intercooler, stainless exhaust and also did the RamAir mod which make the charger whine even louder, and better throttle response, I was surprised that Mod a Mini never talked you into that one ;-) ... Your coilovers look the nuts mate, next on my list now, bet you was loving those Essex country lanes lol ... I also did the JCW black grill today and makes it look much better now. Keep the videos coming, well done and thanks for sharing.

Small changes can make a big difference to a car’s stance. I’m having lowering springs and spacers fitted to my M440 tomorrow. Be great to see the difference!

Congratulations! Been thinking of coilovers for the GTI Clubsport, but im afraid for comfort getting worse than stock if you cannot set them up correctly. Question: Did you consider an Airlift System?

Excellent....watch out for snapped bolts though....I fitted 11mm spaces and kept breaking bolts on hard cornering....went for a stud conversion in the end

Did you initially have longer bolts fitted or just the standard ones at first?

@@camelsac I had longer bolts. At first I thought they were low quality as they came with the spacers....but even after changing for a decent set from a mini sport supplier...I still had a few snap. One front wheel literally snapped three on a hard cornering into a roundabout....I watched them bounce across the road.....the car could have easily rolled if number four had snapped. Ok, I know alot might argue with me that it shouldn't have happened etc but I'm only passing in my experience... overall I think seven snapped before I swapped to a stud conversion which has been fine....the physics I guess means the stress point is not in the same place,maybe someone out there wil explain it for me. Again,just personal experiences but I won't ever trust extended bolts with spacers....studs for me.

How much did you lower the mini by front and rear mate?

Best looking Mini era!!!! Shame they felt the need to make it less mini and less stylish after that period! Why do designers think they have to reinvent a perfect wheel?

@@DaleSteel I disagree! The original BMW Mini is far superior in exterior styling- Frank Stephenson design genius!!! New Mini is too large - it’s meant to be mini - if you look at the side profile the front is too large and awkward, compared with the rear. The design language isn’t making as much sense as the original gens. However, of course you are more than entitled to your opinion.

I agree and even besides the look which I believe is subjectively better in first bmw gen, they are factually smaller, like the original mini’s

What the tire size in this setup mate?

Have a 2019 cooper s ....the clutch seems very stiff ,..is this normal?

Any problems with arch rub with rear passenger on board??

How does it compare performance wise with a 595 competizione?

Different. 595 is more torquey. This you need to drive it a bit higher up. It sounds great. Both cars are super fun to drive. The 595 is much more modern but the mini holds its own based on the age of the car

Because you tested both: for an extra fun car, what would you buy? The Fiat 124 Abarth or the Mini JCW cabrio 2018 Ed.?

Agree, loved your Mini vids Stef! Have an R53 myself in same colour ;)

try other wheels with no flat run!!!!!!!! this is the most impressive thing you can do, and you will see its more comfortabel and much more direct to steer!!! and stoptech brakes, but they dont work with the original wheels.

The R53 is a ROVER not a BMW. BOOM

Sleeping Policeman (speed bump) says no, do like the R53, BMW did well on this one. Today's mini is massive and should be called a maxi, oh wait.

@@StefABtv I live in the Midlands so the roads here just weren't suited to them at all. The car used to slam into bumps and bounce and jiggle out. In the end I bought some heavy duty Konis sport shocks and R53 GP1 springs. I found that was the perfect setup and wouldn't change it. Its low enough, reduced the bodyroll and the ride quality is super high quality now. Firm sporty and really well dampened. My personal perfect setup for fast road driving.

you do know they have coilovers as standard. What had been fitted here are adjustable coilovers. Maybe yours needed setting up?

@@huwjones5879 Well yes I know, Mcpherson strut fronts and rear. My point was the adjustable coilovers are just too stiff to really enjoy the car on UK roads. The cars very stiff from standard, its under-dampened. The dampening is fixed by the heavy duty shocks and I found that the spring rates from the Mini GP were just perfect. I enjoy the car alot more with a certain amount of roll. When on adjustable coilovers I found that the car had less grip as it was prone to wheel spinning and lifting the inside wheel when taking on UK country roads.
