Installing BIG Culvert Pipes In A Creek-2024
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Installing two 48 inch culvert pipes in a creek. Using Yanmar excavator, Kubota tractor, and Ford F750 dump truck. By using two pipes we minimize cost and material to build a bridge across the creek.

You gotta love the south... people are just so laid back and in no hurry to do anything they will just sit up under a tree all day and watch you work!

True story
Water will continue to undermine the pipes, you placed them too high. Always dig down about a foot into the river before placing the culvert. Over time a small portion of the bottom of the culvert pipe will fill with sediment to create a new river bed inside the pipe as a result of placing the culvert deeper. This will not clog the pipe. It will also help in retaining the culvert pipe. When filling, the proper way is to use small rocks on the sides of the pipe as they will help drain soil water down and away from the culvert. Adding a bit of the rocks to the top of the soil dressing will help in compaction and able to carry the weight of larger vehicles. Always have about 2 foot of soil on top of the culvert to ensure during very high water levels there is enough downward pressure to not dislodge the pipe. Most of the decisions taken are ways of cutting costs, but i would never just place culvert pipes on top of a moving body of water, always cut down at least a foot as mentioned earlier.

@@Big.Ron1 agreed, this video plus this input is very helpful indeed. I have erosion wearing down the creek banks and I am hoping that i can install culverts like these from one end to the other and fill to cover the culverts to "cover" the creek

@@DigginLife21 Wow. Congrats on handling constructive criticism like a champ. 👍
Long videos are better than multiple part ones. Just found you, sofa room so good.
I prefer longer videos too. Enjoyed thoroughly and learned alot.
Thank you 😊! If I can convince my husband that watch this then he'll have a admit that I actually have the best ideas to deal with our similar creek culvert issues 😃😁🇺🇸
personally i like your longer videis, ilike seeing start to finish

I’m changing things to where that’s how it will be
I appreciate the explanation on how to do things such as picking up the trees and moving it in position to track to where ever you are gonna dump it. Those sorts of explanations are very helpful for people that don't have much experience (in dirt work). Also I appreciate you putting all of one job on the same video even though it is longer that way.

I prefer showing us the whole process in one video, regardless how long the video is. Clicking around looking for videos so that I can watch them in sequence is not always easy.

I won't mention any names but if you watch the YT's for your 'learning or entertainment' instead of some bickering alphabet TV show, a lot of people tend to like longer than a 30+ minute video. Seems like no one wants to hear a story from beginning to end anymore, SMH. ( The procrastinator types) daaaaangson .. I know he didn't just go there. 👀🤔
Best channel I've found he explains more than most eyes can see. Awesome stuff

Hey , another totally awesome video ... I like the long video's because so many times it's hard to get the sequence in order . Your doing a great job . They camera work and equipment usage is spot on . Kep it up . I know it takes a tremendous amount of extra work to create this kind of quality . Thank you for all the extra efforts .

It’s a lot of fun to make these videos. Even more so when I manage to do one people really like. Thanks for your support
I like the longer videos versus broke up.
It's inspiring to watch how much control you have over that excavator... and stopping to save the turtle was great. Thanks for posting.
Amazing how you can take a long video and make it totally interesting. That’s the importance of intelligent narration. There is nothing worse than a long video without narration. You tend to fall asleep. But you kept me interested throughout and taught me a few things as well. Way to go.
My boss owns a excavating business and I swear you sound just like him...."that's some good dirt right thar!" Lol
Loved this video...very instructional...Got one on order...Can't wait to start on the steep learning curve ahead!!!
Love the full video of the job start to finish!

That’s awesome!!! Start small and build it slow
You are a smooth operator. I don’t have enough experience to eyeball a culvert install like this. Measuring and marking the rough area to excavate and keeping track of depth and slope along the way would give me more confidence on the outcome of the job.
Ive watched and learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I actually did my first large culvert this past weekend and it went like clock work and looks great. Happy customer. Thanks so much.

I too like to see a job through from beginning to end in one sitting. I passed up a movie on Netflix to watch your video and I was thoroughly entertained with your dialogue, I need the full details. I am a homeowner in the Tehachapi mountains that are located in California. I recently bought a house (April 2021) that was built in 2006 and most likely has not had any excavation up keep since it was built. I'm mostly likely in over my head for the excavation I need to do but your videos give me enough tips that I'm willing and looking forward to doing some digging. Good stuff, thanks!
Love to see it from start to finish in one video. It's hard to find the videos in the right order. Thanks ur doing good jobs and I like how exsplaining what ur doing is great. Keep up the good work and videos.

This video has saved my life! I just purchased a home and my backyard has been hijacked from me due to a creek this gives me hope that I can one day have the back yard I dreamed of having.
Love the detailed explaination of your job / project - the length of the video was great for learning.
Yep Todd , OCD can be a useful tool when your in business for yourself. You do nice work and your a good machine operator. I plan to watch more of your work.
Turned out to be a good looking project.

Thanks for explaining 2 pipes vs one…especially the price of pipe vs extra day of digging. That creek bed looks like it can rise pretty high seasonally!
Great job! Great explanation with tons of knowledge.
I'm in agreement with some of the previous comments, the pipes could have been a foot or so deeper. You manned up, agreed and owned it. Total respect. I'm sure there are many of us in the trades (honestly) that walked away from a job that didn't meet perfection and knew it. You are clearly a skilled operator who backs his work. Subscribed!

I just picked up on your channel here in Feb 2021. I'm a Swimming Pool Contractor and a lot of your work has business potential with most of my pool customers. I appreciate the long play video with fast forward. I usually set my video preview speed at 1.5 or 1.75, depends on how fast the talent actually talks at normal speed. I can come back to the video when I want and pick up where I left off on the long play the videos. Go Sic Em!!!

New subscriber. Thank you for the info. Getting ready to move to a place with a creek and a drive with problems. Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
I love the excavator. Good work.
Well done again! I always get concerned about some of these drainage pathways. I was assisting with a small drainage path/creek that was similar to this, but very winding. We had to build up the embankment using gabion baskets filled with large rap, but it wasn't designed/installed properly and the gabions were not pinned...we had huge Texas rain storm and the gabions were all washed out. Back to square one...the moral, never underestimate the power of water. lol....great vid as usual dude!

I'm getting ready to install the same 48 inch double walled pipe. Mine is smooth walled on the inner side. But I have to use big rock or concrete so it doesn't get washed out. A few over my neighbors loss theirs with just topsoil to hold in place.
