INSTALLING A CULVERT! With Rip Rap Stone Edges - kubota SVL 75

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

this video we install a culvert and driveway entrance for a farm access. This culvert was designed by someone and we followed their requirements. which were a 24 inch diameter culvert and a total of 16 meters long. We then trucked in A gravel to build it up to grade and then topped the sides off with rip rap stones

Very nice job, well done! I do have some observations to share for what it’s worth… 13:57 That is probably the most expensive way of backfilling a culvert i have ever seen in my life due to the use of high quality road base for the entire fill material All of the jobs I’ve done we used unclassified fill material that was compactible for all but the last foot or so. Where I live in California Road base cost about $27 a ton and unclassified fill about 8 dollars a ton so you can save a Lot of money by just capping the job with road base The revetment on the outside is a good idea for sure. It will help your fill stay in place. Sure looks like the engineer specified far more corrugated. Metal pipe than the job needed could’ve saved a ton of money there, too

Yup I don’t disagree with you! We were following the specifications designed by the engineer. That’s the way it was desired to be completed, just happened to be a very deep ditch as well

Thanks! Appreciate that. Yeah flicking the dirt or other material like that is a technique that can be helpful to spread material out or sometimes if you can’t raise the bucket to Dump for various reasons. And yes for this job we needed to have a permit for the culvert and also one to have a lane closed on the road when trucks were dumping because it was a very busy road

Hey Andrew, what's your thoughts on the SVL 75 Skiddy ? I'm in process of buying the new 75-3 series and wondered if you have any thoughts on the upgrades Kubota did to your model on the 75-3 - Any feedback gratefully appreciated my friend :)

  • @dirty.diggers

Hey Daniel! I am a huge fan of the Kubota machines in general like the mini excavators and skid steers. However to be totally honest I have not tried out a 75-3 yet. They look nice, I’ve heard the cab is better and supposedly a better venting system from the 75-2 which is one of the biggest cons that machine has. I would love to tell you more about it but I would have to run it for a while before I can give an honest assessment. Sorry I know not to helpful but in general kubota has been great equipment to own and operate 🍻
