    Hey man props to you for being positive encouraging and patient teaching a new guy how to operate. I have worked with so many experienced and knowledgeable operators who do not have a kind word to say towards a new operator learning the trade and don't have the patience to stand back and let somebody make mistakes and learn from them

    I'm nearly 30 years old and haven't installed many culverts myself but, from being on all kinds of pipe works with my grandad(who dug by hand with shovel, spade and pickaxe graves/septic holes and culverts) , my dad and uncle's since I was about 3 years old we would use only clay on open water pipe work like this I.e. streams, creeks or run offs up to about half way and compact the clay and then back fill the rest with gravel or topsoil all depending on what the top is going to be used for like driveway or field. I don't really get out to sites anymore as I'm either in the quarry or gravel pit most day's now but, still a job I love to this day lol. Great video man, it's nice seeing you grow both here on KZread and with your business. 😁👍

At the end don't forget to remind your viewers to "Like, Subscibe, hit that bell icon to be notified when a new video is posted, share with your friends and leave a comment below".. Throw up some reminders to "like and subscribe" in the middle of your videos durring the editing Get those KZread algorithms going! Then you can afford two helpers! Excellent teaching video!!! I’m not a professional so am not questioning your work but I was told to backfill culverts with road bond or soil from the excavation up to the middle of the pipe and compact it. Then fill with whatever is available so to prevent water from undercutting the culvert. Anybody has thoughts on this? I live in the mountains where creeks can get steep and run pretty fast!

    Always refer to manufactures installation instructions as well as any local county/city/DOT code regulations in your area. ADS installation video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aGpsuo-EfrbNorw.html

    Can you explain why you put the black road base on the sides of the culvert ONLY TO ALLOW IT TO SLIDE DOWN while covering it with the stone? Once it slid down, it's of no use at holding the roadbed in place!

    Nice work! Todd, have you ever ran into a situation where the area that a culvert is to be installed in has eroded and the grade that the culvert is to set on has to be elevated? What type of material do you use to build up the grade of the area, rock or dirt?

  • @DigginLife21

    @DigginLife21

    3 жыл бұрын

    Jake Duffin if you can dam the creek up I would use dirt to try and keep material cost down. If I couldn’t pump our route water to where ask my fill not gonna turn to mud I would use a washed some of some kind. Either 3/4 or ballast would be my choice but I have seen people use a smaller rip rap..

    Sometimes a large rental pump can be used to pump the water around to downhill side of creek while you are working.
