Installing and Testing Comma.ai OpenPilot 2!

Ғылым және технология

The Honda already comes with Lane keeping from the factory, and that works pretty well for straight lines and distances. The real advantage of the system was that it enabled the Honda to take slightly sharper turns and have better lane keeping in certain situations. However, city driving and other forms of autonomy were simply too risky in this vehicle to trust the system.
comma.ai/shop/products/comma-...
For now though, my buddies Tesla model three has the best auto pilot I have yet to see. All of the edge cases that failed on openpilot were easily performed. Maybe just our car?
We’ve designed the comma two to always live on your windshield; it’s quieter, and with an integrated panda it is a minimal install. Driver monitoring is now available during night driving. Select your car harness to connect the comma two to your vehicle. (note: the comma two is compatible with existing car harness.)
comma two includes 3 free months of comma prime (begins on ship date). To claim your free prime, download the comma connect app which is available for iOS and Android. Inside the app you can see your recorded drives or access them on the web in explorer and cabana.
The comma two does not ship preloaded with software capable of controlling your car. Open source software can be installed separately.

Thank you SO much for this. I ordered a Tesla Model Y to replace my 2017 CRV, and after discovering OpenPilot tonight I almost cancelled my Tesla. But your video changed my mind. So in my case it doesn't even matter whether the problem is Honda or OpenPilot. You helped me tremendously, dude, thank you.

Interesting! For being able to retrofit it in a Honda, that is very impressive. It did quite well on straight roads. You guys are brave for testing this out, I would be very scared lol 😂

Seems silly to pick a sub par vehicle and then compare it to Tesla. May as well do state of the art on both. Maybe use the #1, #2 or #3 recommended vehicle by Comma Ai and see how it performs.

2:33 In my experience, openpilot is bad at braking in two situations. 1st, when it has to brake soon after a sharp curve. (its field of view isnt wide enough to see the the car after the curve) 2nd if you're traveling 45mph+ with no lead car, and you have to brake in front of a stopped car. Did any of these situations apply? It you were just following the car in front of you normally, it really shoulnd't have had any trouble.

@@AliA-ex7st Yeah, pretty much all ACC systems including Tesla's has trouble with that type scenario because of the way radar works. Stopped car detection is still way better than stock though. It usually handles stopped cars driving at 40mph just fine. It kind of does 45mph too, but not without a whole bunch of warnngs flashing.

In Australia we have 8 road authorities and not enough charging infrastructure to own a Tesla. There are some in Victoria and NSW but so far I found only one in Queensland.
